Wow, they put a lot of effort into the product description there.

How to put money in Trash....
JediMaster replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
Their president was on the Daily Show last night. It's a poor country, and they can't afford more than upgrades really. However, to have nothing in a region not known for its stability isn't wise either. -
How Come all Combat flight Sims are stuck in the WWII era...
JediMaster replied to SkyStrike's topic in The Pub
Il-2:46 has FB, Aces Expansion, Pacific Fighters, Pe-2, Sturmoviks over Manchuria, and 1946 all together. Everything ever done for the series in a single install, with the exception of patching it to 4.08 after install. I've seen it for as low as $10 on sale now. -
The smug in that city is too thick anyway. The Marines should be happy to give it a wide berth, it's bad for your health.

How come arcade style flight "sims" are designed with better terrain detail and better special effects than true flight sims
JediMaster replied to SkyStrike's topic in The Pub
Hella cool--irritating way of saying you like something. -
Black Shark will be coming out sometime, and that's a dedicated Ka-50 sim. However, no real idea WHEN it's coming out. Other than that, you can fly one in Armed Assault, but it's not a helo sim. It's an infantry sim with vehicles like the Ka-50 in it. EECH is definitely the best for flying the Hokum available now.

Seahawk is a crap?

Being underpowered was a chronic problem for almost all jets until the 60s, especially ones that weren't fighters. -
Important Poll
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Got them all, getting the next ones for both WWI and (relatively) modern day. Unlike the "other" groups, he's not only the only one with a regular release schedule, but it's also the only flight sim being made in the USA. -

question about Desert Storm terrain
JediMaster replied to ArturR's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
It won't be too far in the future, patience is all that's required. -
Glad to hear it. NP is nothing short of a great company all around.

Cool! Congrats to you, no small feat there.
-
Ok, cool. With MP AI I might be able to convince some people to get it.

Less distance. HL2 came out 6 years after HL1. Halo 3 is I think 4 years after Halo, and 2 after Halo 2?

Got more room for ORBITER SPACE SIM?
JediMaster replied to Shin_kazama's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
We have an SF section for things like Star Trek. While orbiter is less "fiction" and more "science", it still fits close enough. -
I'm not sure why they put twin outward-canted tails on this F-5, but I know why it was done on the F/A-18--high AOA yaw control. The LERXs on the Hornet increased lift and agility, but the resulting vortices would impact the tail at high AOA and nullify its control. By canting them outward, they were brought outside the path of the vortices and regained yaw stability. This F-5 has no real LERXs that I can see. Also, being so small it doesn't need twin tails, a single tail would suffice. I'd say it has more to do with the visual impact than anything else. It works, doesn't mess it up, and LOOKS like they did something major to it. One major point to note, though...it's all in English.

Syria engages Israeli Aircraft
JediMaster replied to Hawk MMS's topic in Military and General Aviation
Some people don't understand violence and think you should never respond with violence, even if it's in response to violence upon yourself. That's a nice theory. However, that's not the world we live in. If you don't respond, you are weak and invite more attacks. If you do respond, you are suddenly the violent aggressor because the first attack with violence can always be rationalized as the "only" method of retaliation for some other type of attack. It's all reprisals and retributions going back thousands of years and no one cares who started it anymore. -

Not a surprising idea, other than it's being done by Borat. -
How Come all Combat flight Sims are stuck in the WWII era...

Il-2:46 has some early guided missiles in it. I forget which one it is, it's an AAM though. However, I've never used it so I don't know how it works in game. -

Actually, I think it's more that since those arcade games are about the visuals over the fidelity so they have the manpower to devote to it. The masses want it to look pretty, they don't care about climb rates. -
Can anyone identify this aeroplane?

India will be getting several soon, along with a new (formerly Russian) carrier. -

How Come all Combat flight Sims are stuck in the WWII era...
JediMaster replied to SkyStrike's topic in The Pub
Also, consider this. WWII was the first war using radar. It was used from the beginning, in the BoB and onward. Planes began carrying it and being able to detect it by mid-war. Yet not ONE WWII sim I've ever played had planes with radar in it. Why? Because I'm sure they didn't want to be bothered, that's why. Nothing classified about it, nothing hard to find out about it, they just thought it would be too much effort for too little return. -
That one ship looks like a B-2 with warp engines! Is that a Klingon ship too? Always loved the D-7 in all its variants.

I still need to try the demo for this. Is there MP support for AI? rFactor has this, but GTL and GTR2 don't and is one of their biggest shortcomings for me.
