All of those look pretty good except the Civic. There's a car that cures insomnia! -

Um...Maybe he meant WWIII? -
Perhaps they lived shorter because of disease? As War of the Worlds mentions, we've spent millions of years adapting to the viruses and bacterias that live here. Maybe those dinos just didn't have immune systems quite as strong and they died from injuries or illness far more often than old age.

I just looked, and I'm right out of parrots. I see. I see. I get the picture. I've got a slug. Does it talk? Not really. Then it's hardly a replacement then. Look, if you go down to my brother's store in Bolton, he's got one and he'll be happy to replace it. Bolton, eh? Very well. *goes to Bolton* This is Bolton, is it? (with a fake mustache) No, it's Ipswitch. That's inter-city rail for you. *returns* I understand this IS Bolton. (still with the fake mustache) Yes? You told me it was Ipswitch! It was a pun. A PUN?!? No, no...not a pun...What's that thing that spells the same backwards as forwards? A palindrome...? Yeah, that's it! It's not a palindrome! The palindrome of "Bolton" would be "Notlob"!! It don't work!! Well, what do you want? I'm not prepared to pursue my line of inquiry any longer as I think this is getting too silly!

I caught the news that Tarr Chronicles, formerly available only in Russian, in Russia, has gone gold for a N American release. I'd suppose that implies full English translations.

The tricky part was you had to open the bay doors to take the pictures, but it made you VERY visible on radar when you did. It was all about timing it just right between radar sweeps. Also, no hard turns or they'd get a big return off your top or belly! -
Tarr Chronicles Due for N American Release!

I'm going to try it this weekend, haven't installed it yet. -
There are also the "illegal" kills that took place across a border that shouldn't have been crossed. I once knew a guy online who'd killed a MiG...but it wasn't NVAF or over Vietnam, so he didn't get official credit since no one wanted to antagonize China too much and make a repeat of the Korean War.

Besides, everyone knows it's Utahraptor that's like the big, scary ones seen in the film, not velociraptors.

Those recon missions in F-19 were the best EVER. In Cold War mode, with not only no fighting but no sightings allowed! -
Aim-7 Sparrow in WOV
JediMaster replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've not seen that. It may depend what model you're using, but I flew some missions with AIM-7E's the other night and on average I was getting 1-2 missiles out of 4 to hit. Usually 2 would fail to track, with 1 kill and the other one sometimes getting a kill and others just missing. -
Yeah, I saw that in PC Gamer myself and stopped for a second. Hornet!! I almost thought it was a combat add-on before I realized it was just planes and missions with carrier ops. At this point, I'd pay for FSX and then the addon to get a CFS4! Too bad.

How Come all Combat flight Sims are stuck in the WWII era...
JediMaster replied to SkyStrike's topic in The Pub
Ironically, it should be easier to model the modern fighters than the ones from the 80s and 90s. After realizing there was serious pilot workload overload, planes like the F-22 and F-35 are being designed to be more like the sims we played in the 90s with "god's eye radar" turned on. You designate the target, choose the weapon (maybe that is even done for you based on range to target), give the authorization to fire and the weapon goes when the time is right. No worries about slewing this or activating that or remembering the right sequence. Point, click, and shoot. I think TK could do that easy right now with his engine. The targeting boxes could simply be on your HMD. The only real change is the new jets can do AA and AG at the same time without changing radar modes. The rivet counters are immaterial, anyway. Give me a sim where it FEELS real, where real tactics work and the enemies act real, and that's enough. Sure if I can't break Mach 1 in an F-15 I'll be annoyed, but whether you're going Mach 2 or 2.5 in 5 mins or 8 doesn't really matter to how you fly and fight, the whinerealism people to the contrary. -

Right, Colonel should be the last one, although on occasion generals will fly for a specific purpose. Never in combat, though. -

The F-101 was an interceptor. The RF-101 was a tac recon variant. -
I've still only played KOTOR2 once as light side. Been meaning to play DS, but just haven't had a chance. Played KOTOR thru twice, though. Am I the only one here still playing SWBF2? It's mindless compared to JKA, but the variety of combat and the vehicles keeps me coming back.

Their actions made it "tippy"???!? Just how vigorous WERE they back there??

"Oh that woman, got a mouth like an outboard motor. All the time, putt putt putt putt putt putt *putting/coughing sounds*" Foghorn: "Pay attention, son, look at me when I'm talking to ya." "Now who's repsons, I say, who's responsible for this unwarranted attack upon my person?" "Now wait a minute son, you paid no attention, you're starting too big! You gotta walk before you can run. Start small and, look at me when I'm talking to ya son, I say start SMALL and work up! Now try again, boy! Kids nowadays, they know it all." "Pay attention to me, boy! I'm not just talkin to hear my head roar!" "Say something! Explain yourself! Your tongue's flappin but no noise is coming out of your big mouth!" "That boy's about as sharp as a bowling ball." "Now what, I say, what's the big idea bashin me on the noggin with a rolling pin? Clunk enough people and we'll have a nation of lumpheads!" Of course, who can forget the classic: "Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal! Send me a kiss by wire, baby my heart's on fire! If you refuse me, honey you lose me, and you'll be left alone, oh baby, come on and tell me I'm your own..."

How Come all Combat flight Sims are stuck in the WWII era...
JediMaster replied to SkyStrike's topic in The Pub
To be fair, there really aren't any sims with 90s and 00s stuff on the market other than F4:AF and LOMAC that let you have all the stuff those planes have now. Even the next TK sim will end in 1982 to keep the reqs for fancy avionics down. The last one to really do it was Jane's USAF. Only ones I've seen lately are Over G Fighters and Ace Combat for the consoles, and those barely qualify because of their arcade nature. While you can DL recent jets for WOE and such, you're still limited in what you can do with them vs what those older sims let you do. I'd love a modern rendition of ATF/NATO Fighters/Fighter Anthology with all those modern planes up to and including the F-22, F-35, F/A-18E/F, Typhoon II, Rafale, Gripen, Su-35, Su-30MK, MiG-35, etc etc. I just don't know if we'll see it unless several releases down the road TK finally goes that route. -
Yeah, some mention has been made of it, but I'm not sure how far off it is.
-
Yeah, I'm hopeful this will be a good one.
