A-Team Fokker Dr.1 - where do you get it?
JediMaster replied to arcuspilot's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Don't forget the A-Team has their own forum here, for all of their stuff whether it be WWI, WWII, modern era, whatever. Capun has just posted the full instructions there as well. -
I'm glad they're here for the reason mainly that any time anything is available at a single location it's subject to the whim's of the hosting site's ISP taking it down for whatever reason they choose. Maybe Jupiter is no longer in the 7th house... So, anyone out there who's stuff isn't hosted here, I urge you to consider doing so as a second source! Anyone who's stuff is ONLY hosted here, I less strongly urge you to consider having a backup.

Savoia Pomilio SP.3 --- RELEASED
JediMaster replied to Laton's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Gotta love the lumbering beasts! -
A truly sad day.

You know, I honestly can't pick one! There are scenes I remember being funny and such, but I can't recall which one I've thought was the funniest!
-
Ok, THAT is sheer perfection.

I'm watching S6 of TNG and I saw an Oberth on the disc I'm on now. After seeing its demise in ST3 I always hated the ship's weak shields.

Anyone else here remember being stunned at the death of the Enterprise in Star Trek 3?

What was you fav off the wall Sci-Fi movie
JediMaster replied to Redddevil911's topic in Sci-Fi Simulations
Oddly, I never saw the film but I did read Clockwork in school. Didn't care for it much! -
Well maybe if you'd waited more than just 4 hrs someone else would've come by and answered!

Su-29 exists, and you could even fly it in a few sims. It's a small prop plane for aerobatics. Anyway, the difference is the Russian Air Force and the manufacturers will have two different designations for the same plane. The Su-27IB became the 32FN and/or 34 because mainly it turned out Russian politicians were more likely to fund a "new" airplane then a derivative of an "old" airplane. In the US, it can be a major PITA to get them to give a new letter to a plane. I mean, the F-16C Blk 50/52 is so far removed from the original F-16C off the production line it was silly. Finally the Blk60 was given a new letter, so it's the F-16E/F.

LOL, I feel so old! Until I was in high school there weren't any flight sims to fly at all! F-19 and Red Baron came out then. Then when I reached college came Falcon 3 and Tornado and SWOTL and such. My college years were spent hardcore simming, as were the years immediately after when I first met my wife, then moved in with her. Really, the thing that's caused me to move away from simming now as much I used to is the lack of sims! In the mid/late 90s I'd be buying a new one every couple of months, although the best ones I kept playing. Now TK is the only one releasing new sims with any frequency at all. I'd say the amount of time I've spent flying from 2001-present is equal to the amount of time I spent in just one year back then. Now I spend time on other things like racing sims, RTS, and FPS that just didn't take much time then. So for me, 1-17 almost NO flight simming (because sublogic's FS2 is all I really had), 18-26 TONS of flight simming (the golden era of the 90's!), 27-now only a couple of times/week max, and some weeks I never fly at all!

The USAF pays that well if you have the right job. CES chief, for instance.

We also have the "knowledge base" forum with tons and tons of info.

Add-on planes don't show in Multiplay
JediMaster replied to arcuspilot's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
You'd have to edit the .ini files of the planes in question to alter their service dates. For 3rd party planes that's no big deal, but for stock planes you have to extract their .ini's from the .CAT file first before you can do that. -
I hate that Russian tendency to redesignate fighters with totally new numbers. Su-27 -> Su-30/32/34/35/37. Su-25 -> Su-39 Mi-24 -> Mi-35 MiG-29 -> MiG-35

Just look at the price of the 8800GTX vs 8800GTS. I always upgrade in small stages myself, but my next upgrade will have to be a whole new system. I'm DDR/AGP/IDE right now, so next one will be DDR2/PCI-E/SATA. I do have SATA ports on my current mobo, but I've never used them.

Wow, looking at this shot now I can see a ton of improvements since last year! Anyway, if it's a UH-60, you can roll it out by pushing forward on the stick a bit without giving it any collective to lift off. The tail will come up, but it will still go. If it's a skid-equipped one, you have to get it just BARELY off the ground and hover-taxi forward very carefully! Generally speaking, though, flyable helos shouldn't be parked in a hangar. It's a mistake by the mission maker if it is.

Hard for me to pick. I'd say the first one I had a real "I like that!" moment with was when I first saw the Reliant in ST2. Then came ST3 and I saw the Excelsior...I really liked that one. The changes they made for the 1701-B I didn't care for, much. The 1701 E comes in 3rd for me, and I think the 1701 A is 4th.

I saw him at a convention right before filming of Generations was about to begin. It was funny in that he said how much he hated Shatner, then he winds up being in the film with him and having the most to do with him on screen! He reminded me of my grandfather (who'd passed away only a year or so earlier) in many ways. He went along with this silly ST quote thing they did where he'd read a line as Scotty and people would raise their hands to guess where he'd said it. I think it was right after he'd been on TNG, actually. I'm glad I got to see him that once.

I watched a lot of Starblazers when I was young, but that's it.

I never got to play Obi Wan as I never had an Xbox. I remember the day they dumped PC and went Xbox-only for it...a dark day indeed.

I still am befuddled by all that has happened around these parts. It started with the modder vs modder conflicts on the forums, led to the A-team's reg-only choice, and continues to this day. Perhaps it's no longer a "hot war" like it was then, but it's very much a "cold war" still. I understand that people will get upset at someone claiming work they didn't do as their own, 100% I agree with that. I do feel that if you release something like that to the public domain, though, you can't expect things like that won't happen. Whether someone deliberately misrepresenting themselves (I think we all know someone in our lives who is the "pathological liar" and will lie even when there is no benefit to it), or just a person who was looking at someone else's work for reference and got it confused with something they did and repackaged it as part of a greater whole and forgot to give credit, it's going to happen. However, as soon as someone gets nasty about it, either the accuser or the one being accused, the whole thing goes to hell fast. One definite side effect of this has been a general contraction of the community into "sides". It used to be you had the pro-TW sim people and the anti-TW sim people, the latter consisting of those who would ramble ad nauseum about all the features that weren't there and how it will never achieve greatness without them and so on. Yet all those who enjoyed the sims were on the same side. In typical fashion, however, as soon as the "external" force of the naysayers gave up due to boredom or whatever, the fans that were left started to argue amongst themselves. I'm not for or against anyone, other than a general appreciation of the good work done by the modders. I have no info nor an opinion on who did what to whom when, and I doubt I ever will. The opinion I do hold is that this is a sad state of affairs we now find ourselves in and I despair that we'll ever see a return to "the good old days." I loved NATO Fighters and NF2 for WoE, OTC for SFP1, and so on, and I was waiting for more of these "bundles" to come out...but with modder set against modder I feel such things will be quite rare indeed now.

Unfortunately it's no longer where it once was, at least when I last visited 3 years ago. It used to be hanging right above the entrance to one of the halls (as shown in the pics on that site). When I was last there they'd moved it to the lower level of the gift shop, where no one sees it unless you go into the gift shop first then go downstairs. Only good news is it's in a glass case now.
