Aircraft issues
JediMaster replied to Sgt.KAR98's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Fishbeds and Foxhounds, Fulcrums and Floggers. Farmers and Foxbats for buzzing those joggers. Fagots are so named for bundles of twigs. These are a few of my favorite MiGs... -

Hmmm. A-6 or A-7, which is uglier? -
There's no room in the Bahamas! However, you can imagine the casinos in R6V are in the Bahamas...or anywhere in the world, really.

Sukhoi SU-34 Platypus
JediMaster replied to bwRavencl's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You did read that AvWeek article that claimed the "unbuilt" 3rd prototype was doing just that for the past 30+ years? The idea that "Dyno-soar" may not have gone the way of its namesakes but actually been used operationally is very intriguing. -

F-16 Question
JediMaster replied to FrankTB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The F-16XL single and 2-seaters were going to be called the F-16E and F, respectively. Instead, those letters have finally been granted to the former F-16C/D Blk 60 aircraft. Really not that important, however, as the USAF didn't buy any, and other nations call their planes whatever they feel like. -
Sukhoi SU-34 Platypus

He chose a good angle. It's not called the platypus because the platypus is an attractive animal! -
F-22
JediMaster replied to GregCrack's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Right, it's easy to make a plane that looks like an F-22 or F-35, it's making one that flies and fights like them that's hard. -
Sukhoi SU-34 Platypus
JediMaster replied to bwRavencl's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Not only can the Russians make one of the most attractive fighters ever built, they also know how to turn it into one of the ugliest!! -
Why russian aircrafts are so weak
JediMaster replied to kelvin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
After changing the .ini, though, you have to run the wep editor, open the .ini, and click "save" as it's the weapons .dat file that the game actually reads. -
Multiple Flap Settings
JediMaster replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Certain planes have multi flap settings, other do not. The F-15, for example, has only 2--up and down. The A-10 has 3, with an intermediate setting. I think the Su-25 has 4, with a "combat" flap setting of like 10 degrees as well as half and full. The F-16 has none, they're auto. So, if there was some way of doing it like that for each plane, fine, but you don't want a blanket setting. -
Whatever. Is every game supposed to take place in San Machismo, Kerplakistan, or Central Republic of the Gibbon? Real world locations are useful.

Right, ArmA isn't called OFP2 because Codemasters owns the name and they and BIS aren't on speaking terms. So, "game 2" may well be called "ArmA 2" instead, but it's not the name that matters.

Whew, I'm glad I'm not 35 yet!! I've still got...um...16 months? Sigh...

List of upcoming releases and dates?
JediMaster replied to Hawk MMS's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
LOMAC: Black Shark -- this year, sometime, maybe? SoW: Battle of Britain -- next year I think? Enemy Engaged 2 -- a couple of months Il-2: 46 -- just released Dante's Falklands sim -- not sure Fighter Ops -- next year, possibly? TK's next WWI sim -- not sure TK's next jet sim -- also not sure Falcon 5 or whatever LP is doing next -- not sure! Knights of the Sky -- ditto Maybe some others I'm forgetting, but really the release dates are so nebulous right now... -
Flanker, Flanker, Flanker....
JediMaster replied to Hawk MMS's topic in Military and General Aviation
Hard to say. The MiG-25 was feared and respected before we found out its TRUE abilities, and it led to the F-15's creation. The Su-27 and MiG-29 are only so well known and liked because of the fall of the USSR. Both were in service years before that time, but info about them was kept secret. I think it was 1989 or 1990 when they sent the Fulcrums to Paris or Farnborough and the world got a good look. The Flankers came soon after. It's not solely our relations with Russia, but it is a big part of it. -
SB Pro is certainly top of the line, but at $125 it's also top of the line. It's the F4 of tank sims, except the graphics are also great. Armed Assault has tanks in it, easy to get into and use. Not nearly as realistic, but also not as hard. A lot cheaper, too.

U-2's Grounded out of Beale AFB
JediMaster replied to Hawk MMS's topic in Military and General Aviation
I'd guess there was an accident, but given the U-2's mission the info may not be easy to find. Perhaps check Jane's or AvWeek's sites... -
Speaking as a Pole, we wish people would stop mounting their jets on us. First all the terrible jokes when you're young in school, now THIS. :threaten:

I used to go to the movies most weekends when my wife and I first met up through the early years of our marriage. Around 2001 or so we moved to an area where the theater was no longer so close so we became more picky. Then came the DVD explosion and we were able to see them not long after theater release, so we became pickier. Now although they've built a theater very close to us, we still only go for movies we really want to see. I can't recall if I've seen a flick in the theater since Casino Royale in December, honestly.

Well, it seems interesting enough, but I'm still uncertain. There's no doubt they did a world-class job on the visuals, though. I played the WC and X Wing/TIE Fighter games to death, and I've been waiting for a new one for years. I've got X3 but have barely touched it due to lack of time.

Actually, I can't think of one flight sim where roll is enabled.
