The only choice they can make is whether to put on that uniform. Once they do, their fate is no longer theirs to make, and they must put their trust in their leaders and their training. It saddens me when one or the other lets them down, although I think it's obviously one more than the other.

Yes, Genesis! How can you be deaf with ears like that??

Of course, the worst part of this experience will be the food.

I think his post was partially to deflate expectations (which are always too high) and partially to surprise when it did come out. There are 2 ways to do a game. You can make MP the focus and let the AI be morons ("This game is primarily about online play so we didn't focus on the AI"--see the BF games among others) or you skip much in MP and make SP the focus. TK's games are all about the SP with only a simple MP component, so he knows the AI is what you're flying with and against all the time. While he's limited in how much he can do in the time he has, he knows it's important to the game.

The differences between the 2 are slight, and those pictures aren't clear enough to offer easy identifiers, so it could be the N-9M too.

I saw a piece on the news the other day, I think it was an adjunct to the Walter Reed story (which I won't go into here!), talking about how severe concussions are the most common injury over there. IEDs knock people unconscious all the time. They're taken to the medics and looked over, and most of the time just dusted off and returned to duty. However, the question was at what point is it too many times? Once or twice is no major issues, but one soldier said it was like his seventh time! Taking blows to the head like that, even if it's just a shockwave, that often IS dangerous.

Tell me it's black when I know that it's white... Always the same it's just a shame that's all.

Perhaps they're too busy flying to post about it?

At the very least, this thread has given us some insight into the reactions of a "brand new user" with no prior expectations or knowledge. While there's not too much that can likely be done on TK's side to improve that initial "OOB experience" without changes in funding/manning, it does indicate that we must realize someone's expectations, based on the established franchises like MSFS, might be a little higher than the stock game can meet. Fortunately, Twobob has not rejected the game out of hand but took the time to look into it and see what he can do to improve things.

First Eagles Review in April 2007 Flight Journal
JediMaster replied to DWCAce's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
It's always worthwhile to get your name in print! At least, as long as it's not associated with the terms "alleged" or "indictment." -
WOV/WOE V's LOMAC
JediMaster replied to Redddevil911's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I fly them for different things. I don't fly much F4 anymore because of the time required to stay proficient with it. I don't really forget LOMAC too much, the only difficult plane in it is the Su-25T with Flaming Cliffs. After you spend an hour trying to fight in the 25T the other planes feel simpler than those in SFP! When I have an urge to fly "different" planes not available elsewhere, or I only have 30 mins, or I just want to mess around, the SFP series is where I go. When I have an hour or so and feel a little more "pilot like" I play LOMAC. When I have 2 hours and feel like my life has been too low-stress lately, I fly F4:AF. -

Which sim is best for direct TCP/IP internet play?
JediMaster replied to Hawk MMS's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
Hamachi is my tool of choice for TK's series of sims. Other than those, every other sim I play works 100% with direct IP: LOMAC w/FC CFS3 Il-2 F4:AF EECH/AH -
Sounds like it does the same type of thing as EndItAll.

That plus there's not much protection for crew or flight systems.

Flanker, Flanker, Flanker....
JediMaster replied to Hawk MMS's topic in Military and General Aviation
The Flanker, like the Fulcrum, is an excellent airplane. Its effectiveness as a fighter depends on other things, some of which are known and others are not. Avionics? Always been a weak point in Russian planes. Armament? Since the R-73/AA-11 introduction, lethal in WVR combat combined with its good gun. BVR not so much because of the previously mentioned avionics as well as SARH/RH missile issues. Reliability? Never very good in the past, but getting better as countries with money like India and China pay them to make them better. The engines are the primary fault in that area, but are improving. Damage resistance/robustness? No one really knows. The East Africa conflict wasn't very big to really draw any conclusions. Most of the Flanker's adoration comes from its looks, its lines, and its flying ability. It's also one big mutha and makes even the F-15 look small. :) -
The reason I think is they keep wanting planes to do more and more. It's not enough that it does what the previous one does, it has do to it all better. Then, it has to be able to do more as well. Then it has to be safer, then it has to be more survivable, then it has to be more lethal, then it has to more effective, and so on. Well, that stuff isn't free. You have to pay for it. Then Congress balks at building more. You can get 100 planes for $50 billion, or 50 planes for $35 billion...well, that saves us $15 billion! Uh, yeah, but now your unit cost has gone up. Penny wise, pound foolish, every time. The USAF bought the F-16 because they couldn't afford enough F-15s to do everything. We're buying the F-35 because of the F-22's price, but there are issues with the F-35. So the debate for more F-22s takes a different course...

I guess they fail to notice that in the US Hollywood is accused of being very liberal compared to the conservative gov't. The fact is not that there's any anti-Iran agenda, it's just that Hollywood has never allowed the truth to get in the way of a good story!

The thing is AFAIK the C-5 can fly with only 3 engines, right? Granted not full loaded, but it can. Yet if one engine is out it will sit there until the engine is fixed. If the zone is "dangerous" perhaps they're more willing to bend that rule.

That sounded disturbingly familiar.

Yeah, me too. I remember his bit about not understanding smokers wanting to light up after a meal. "Well, that was a great meal. Do I want dessert? Nah. A glass of wine or cup of coffee. No. I know, how about I light a big stinking weed on fire in front of my face??" :)

New to Lock On
JediMaster replied to Uzaree's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
The A-10 is the plane I'm most proficient in. I'm most likely to evade incoming fire, I'm most likely to survive it, I'm most likely to rack up the kills. -
Ah, last I played was F-22 L2 and that one didn't.
