From the outside, certainly. As a passenger, though, I hate the DC-9!! Oh, and pretty much any plane that seats under 100.

The name hung on the economic model is largely irrelevant to global politics. There's no doubt that compared to his predecessor Putin is far less concerned with "getting along" with the West.

Russo-British naval incident in Scotland

They need to have something to make people want to CONSUME MORE NEWS. -
It depends on the strength and durability of the parts, of course. Sure, it may fit and work fine sitting on a ramp, but in combat under g loads it's a different story. Only time and extensive testing will tell.

A Very Small Nellis Test Rage Update
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I don't know how much is involved to make a plane for DCS World, but IIRC it's far more than SF needs. -
Yeah, each gen of tanker loses an engine. From the 4-engined 135s they went to 3-engined KC-10s. Now we'll have 2-engined KC-46s. In 50 years there will be a single engined tanker. In 100 years we'll have glider tankers.

That pic has been altered, it's pretty obvious the F-16 and Hornet were added to the pic later (as everything is a black silhouette but those 2 jets are line drawings). It's like those stupid Chevy/Ford rivalry license plates and bumper stickers I used to see. Identical except for where they put the Chevy and Ford logos.

A rose by any other designation given for funding or programmatic purposes will smell as sweet.

That MiG-23 looks more like the Chinese J-8II. A MiG-21-derived twin-engined fighter. Anyway, the classified sources usually had better info than the public ones, so the gov'ts knew more than we ever could. The Su-37 back then was probably just an unused designation next in line matched to a concept drawing. Or it could've been totally fictitious to give the red side a ground attack plane more modern than the Su-24 or 25. One thing to note: do NOT give Jane's any undue credit or responsibility for what was in that game. It was made by EA/Origin and I think other than the name and free copies of their books, Jane's offered little else.

We even have them here. A practice range from WWII was turned into living space decades later, and as a result unexploded bombs are found from time to time. One was near a school IIRC.

No, Mulder!! Get off that runway and away from that ship!!

Amazon Sales Tax to be Implemented Tennesse and other states
JediMaster replied to Skyviper's topic in The Pub
I can't believe there are enough of them to run things here, too. -
I see what you did there. I'm just not sure it was deliberate. Anyway, I've not spent all that much time flying in recent months, I'd say I spent less time flying in 2013 than any previous year, except maybe 2012! However, when I do I've spent most of my time in DCS and ROF. Back when I flew more, though, I spent a lot of time in FE2 (I didn't really touch FE too much after I got FE2) for when I wasn't in the "serious" mood for ROF. I don't have the number of planes, terrains, and mods for it I have for SF2, but I still have quite a few and it just works with no hassles.

A Very Small Nellis Test Rage Update
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Can it be done? Of course. Can it be done to a degree that will be considered worthwhile to customers for a price that is reasonable? No idea. For free? Uh, no, that's not going to happen! -
Book Release : Eagles Over Bangladesh- IAF in the 1971 war
JediMaster replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
One of my favorite books is one written by Martin Pegg about the Hs129. It's a massive book with tons of data on the plane as well as its development and operational history throughout the war. It just perfectly epitomizes what I think a book like that should be. I'm all for those kinds of efforts! -
I still fail to see why it's acceptable to rattle sabers, invade, bomb, implement sanctions that hurt thousands or millions...but it's NOT ok to send special ops or single agents in to take out a nat'l leader. It seems so backwards it's ridiculous..."no, don't hurt the ones ACTUALLY responsible, making the decisions and all...let's hurt the ones that are ALSO hurt by the ones responsible...that'll show 'em!!"

Oh Ian, what have you gone and bought now you crazy fool!

Was the interior cannibalized for another plane in a museum or something? -
They bought the thing MANY years ago. It was obsolete when it was bought, too. No doubt they've installed new/updated systems, but the fact is the hull's older than some US carriers that have been in service for years already. I don't know what kind of reliability/maintenance issues they might have with it, but I'm sure they're not trivial.

Amazon Sales Tax to be Implemented Tennesse and other states
JediMaster replied to Skyviper's topic in The Pub
It's the local companies that (erroneously) believe that if it weren't for sales tax, their sales numbers wouldn't have fallen so much compared to the increase in sales from online-only places. The states realize that the amount of money brought in by this will be trivial, no matter what they say. The big retailers, though, funded those state officials' campaigns to get them to do this. I'll be honest, if I see something at Target that's the same price as it is on Amazon, I'm not going to get it on Amazon and wait several days for it to arrive just to avoid paying a couple of bucks in tax. The issue is the local stores often cost MORE and then have tax IN ADDITION. So I'm not just paying tax, I'm paying MORE tax because it's on a higher price! But Best Buy and the others won't acknowledge that. Couple that with smaller selections for many things, having to stand in lines, dealing with parking, weather, etc, and quite often buying it online becomes more attractive even if it costs the same...especially if I can't get it at all locally! The only exception is expensive stuff. For 10 years I bought my TVs at Best Buy, including a 46" and two 65" models. The last one I bought 2 years ago, however, I got from Amazon. First, the tax on $2500 isn't chump change to me, although I know it is to the state. Second, I wanted passive 3D (so the glasses are just cheap plastic like you get at the movie theater, not those $100+ battery-powered models the active 3D TVs need which give my wife a headache) and at the time there were no stores locally carrying any passive 3D TVs. So I COULDN'T buy it locally anyway! -

The 3rd parties certainly will have them, as the Normandy map shots illustrate. Whether it will ever go "public" is another matter. -

I'm sure they care if they don't get their Fancy Feast.

Book Release : Eagles Over Bangladesh- IAF in the 1971 war
JediMaster replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
I guess the "Bangladesh" part in the title gives that away. Are they making a separate book about the western front then? -
Generally speaking the exact opposite of what MSNBC says.

It's also a matter of need. Any price is too high for something if you don't have a need for it.
