I'm going to wait and see. Not a big fan of 3rd person for shooters (great for Thief games and lightsaber combat though) so I want to hear more people's impressions before I consider anything.

Air Force unveils initial B-21 long range bomber design
JediMaster replied to Nesher's topic in Military and General Aviation
It was already mentioned that the new bomber would most likely be twin-engined instead of 4. Seeing as we have the 777 out there with two engines there's no reason a bomber can't have two as well. However, seeing as they bizarrely didn't go with B-3 (I guess we're to assume they had 18 other designs that were made on paper/virtually that got passed over), I still think 21 is wrong. Looking at this, it's a B-2.1 for sure. MAYBE B-2.5. -
Japan X-2 Stealth demonstrator due for maiden flight
JediMaster replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
That's a proof of concept, not a prototype of an operational combat plane. It also has quite a few distinctly un-stealthy features that can't be a mistake. -
Various Nevada Screenshots...
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Hmmm. Well they're not going to make a Walt Disney World terrain so I won't ever experience that myself. I keep meaning to spend some time on NTTR after I went and installed it but it just seems like I have so little lately. I'm most excited to do the ground vehicle stuff on terrain that isn't triangles joined at 20 degree angles like Black Sea. -
Desert Storm ... 25 years ago .. 16th/17th Jan 1991
JediMaster replied to Crusader's topic in Military and General Aviation
Five? Five? FIVE??? I was 6 months from starting college! It's the defining event of my senior year of HS. Prom, homecoming, driving to school finally instead of taking the bus, yeah that all happened, but ODS is still the first thing I remember about that last year of public school. -
Ok, I'll say it...I hate medical stuff as simple as doctor visits and I'm super glad it's not me. Glad you're in high spirits, though!

He was very funny, too, in both Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and Dogma. He also was the voice of Marvin the android in the Hitchhiker's Guide film from a decade back, the one with Martin Freeman as Arthur Dent.

DCA News & Winter Sale
JediMaster replied to MigBuster's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I'm glad for it, although I'm puzzled as multiple non-ED-yet-affiliated sources were quite vehement that the 33 would never get one because politics. Interesting, and good, that they were wrong. -
Cool stuff.

Wow, it has been awhile since you were here, wasn't it? Well, you found your way back, and that's what counts!

The 2k is on my "eventually" list with the MiG-15. I have spent many hours on the FC3 planes, Ka-50, and A-10C, but the Mig-21, P-51D, and F-86F have largely sat untouched due to lack of time to really dive into them (and none of them support the jump-in-and-fly experience the FC3 planes mostly offer). So there are a lot of DCS modules I don't have right now as a result. The L-39 I'm still on the fence about. Doubt I'll get the Uh-1 or Mi-8. The Hawk? C101? Nope. Normandy and the other WWII birds? Eh... Only the Hornet is a definite, and that's going to even be a preorder I think. Straits of Hormuz too in all likelihood. Everything else is wait and see.

I don't know, I thought it was pretty good compared to what we could've had instead. I knew we'd lose Ren's dad the minute I read he was coming back after all (after literally decades of him wanting to distance himself from all things SW) a couple of years ago. I said to my friend "Oh, he's coming back? He must be dying in the film then." His greatest wish was for his character to die but in a meaningful way. I'm certain his return was partly contingent on that. I have read that he's signed up for multiple pictures, but that might have been a bit of misdirection considering I wasn't the only one who called that back in 2013 to make people think he WOULD possibly live. Anyway, I grew up with Luke...I took my 7 yr old daughter to see it, and she has Rey, or as she's bad with names "the girl who got stronger"...oh and she loves BB-8, the very next morning we had a note under our bedroom door saying she wanted BB-8 for Christmas. So my own expectations are heavily weighted by having a little girl experiencing it for herself. By that metric, yeah...JJ did good.

90 mins to go here, HNY to all at CA!

Yeah! Glad I never got the 1.5 beta. I have 2.0beta w/NTTR and had 1.2.x alongside, but I thought 3 installs rather excessive.

I can just as easily paint this the opposite way. A skier was nearly injured, seriously, by a large camera drone that failed and crashed right where he'd been just 2 seconds earlier. I also fail to see any regulation--this is registration. So that if a quadcopter drops through your windshield while you're driving on the interstate, the authorities can find out who it belongs to and make sure they're liable and held accountable. Otherwise, what is stopping someone from buying one of these things for under $100, taking it out to the freeway when they're drunk and flying it low to see if they can get a few laughs making people freak out? There are no "hobbyist's rights". Was that hidden in the 1st amendment where I missed it? You have zero right to get to play how you want to play, and it does NOT trump the rights of your fellow citizens to not be injured or killed by your stupidity. You want to hold back gov't regulation and rely on the intelligence of Americans to keep you safe instead? You want to count on them doing the right thing instead of having the threat of fines and/or jail to hold them back? We wouldn't need the ability to bear arms if we could rely on Americans being intelligent and considerate because there wouldn't be crime, would there? No one would need any guns because no one would ever threaten them, we'd all be perfectly safe all the time. In other words, an America that needs guns also needs limits to stop drunk idiots, which I would argue largely describes a good 50% of this country. An America with a population intelligent and considerate enough to police its own hobbies is also one that has no need of private weapon ownership. So which America do you think exists?

You'll have to wait for the later films for that. This was to recharge the audience as it were. Nothing that happened was really a surprise for me. I had already guessed most of what was going to happen based on history...not just the 3 original films, I mean comments by cast members and novels from the past 3 decades. The trailers also did set the expectations as it were. When we have a spoiler thread in a couple of weeks, I'll go into it more. For now, people should take the ride and enjoy it. This film is not as ambitious as the prequels were (because they were totally different films in the SW universe, while this one is sticking to the original elements closely), but it's done far better. Lucas had a story he wanted to tell, and if you didn't like it he didn't care, so he went for broke every time. JJ wanted you to like it, so he made a story he thought was safe but did it the way the fans wanted.

Support my request please. A F10 map we can write over it.
JediMaster replied to Stratos's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
A neat idea. If it worked in MP it would be awesome. Lead can annotate and all members of flight see it, or you can make all players on a side see it. This has been in Arma for years, too, and it works fine in Arma 3 and earlier versions. -
It was MCAS Toro's squadrons, you didn't see fighting elsewhere, so it was all Hornets. You did briefly see a couple non-US planes on the ground in a couple of scenes, like an Iraqi MiG-25 IIRC.

Yes, the old U-2 was a lot smaller than the 80's era TR-1/U-2R and had no underwing pods.

Clothing that looks so bad it assaults your eyes. You get whiplash turning your head as fast as possible to avoid seeing it one second longer.

The last flight of the Argentinian Mirages family
JediMaster replied to SUICIDAL's topic in Military and General Aviation
I wonder what percentage of the pilots were even born when they fought over the Falklands. -
I loved F3 and F:NV, but I'll be waiting a bit to get F4. First, I prefer the early bugs get patched before I get it, and second...just too many other games I'm still working on!
-
Turkeys and hams all around! Because let's face it, most of the family are usually either turkeys or hams.

I've got such a backlog of games, although I'd like to pick up the Witcher series cheap, I can't justify it to myself right now! Maybe next year when the Steam Summer sale rolls around I'll be ready for them.
