  1. I've not tried the Chap yet, but I've played as a tank and an arty piece. I'm not sure how to work the arty right yet, frankly, because its sights are only good WVR and arty is best BVR! It's still beta and a bit rough around the edges, but it IS fun. The first thing I hope they fix (purely for immersion) is the lack of acceleration/decel. Your vehicle is at a stop, it's now going 10km/h, it's stopped. Doesn't really change how it plays, as I said it's purely aesthetic. I really need to spend more time with all the DCS stuff, though.
  2. I don't think either of those qualify as "features." More like "installation prerequisites."
  3. I always laugh... the far side.

I miss TFS. The perfect one for me.
  4. Neil Armstrong Dies

He lived a life most of us could only dream of aspiring to.
  5. There must be SOME reason for some of these apparently inexplicable changes. Either to fix a bug or support an upcoming feature I guess, but it's not like he tells us!
  6. DCS/FC2 goodness

MP is still the #1 thing I miss from SF1 and the reason a few of my friends skipped the series. They only buy flight sims with MP (even the ones that spend like no more than 25% of their time in MP)!
  7. I don't know if the official features list of FC3 has been released yet. At this point other than "it's coming" we know little. Lemme guess...you're gonna put a CVN into DCS World?
  8. Identify this Aircraft

I don't like them. They wet their nests.
  9. Almost looked like a bubble of air coming off the deck gave it some extra lift just as it crossed and pushed it up, hence it almost missed #4 even.
  10. Tony Scott died

One of his best IMO. IIRC, it was the first of many, MANY films he made with Denzel Washington. Also, I will say this: Compared to his brother Ridley, I like MORE of Tony's films (I've watched and enjoyed most of them) than I do Ridley's (who has films like White Squall and that Columbus one I just couldn't even make myself watch). Now when Ridley is good he blows Tony anyway, but Tony was far more consistent. Say Tony's films were almost always at least a "B" while Ridley would vaccilate from "A"s to "D"s. Pick a film from them at random and I was more likely to enjoy Tony's than Ridley's, even though some of Ridley's best I have on DVD and the only Tony one I have is Top Gun. Actually, I keep meaning to get Crimson Tide on Bluray, it was a great one.
  11. One of the many interesting ideas from the 50s that went nowhere.
  12. While that SOUNDS right, think about it...all of us with SF2:I being told we need to pay a premium to get .ini edits and some skins? Sounds like a $3 thing like the A-4C or IIIEL to me. You just need SF2I.
  13. In theory. In practice, I think ED is being a bit cautious. I suppose if all here formally organized somehow to do it, it might work. But it also might not.
  14. Yet the AA-12 was even better than the AMRAAM was ever dreamed to be...
  15. Just because you CAN do something...

Case in point: Soon-Tek Oh. He's Korean (as the name indicates), although he was born in Japan. I'm not sure which languages he speaks fluently, other than accented English, but I've seen him play: A Japanese officer in The Final Countdown. A Chinese cop in Man With the Golden Gun. Various Chinese characters on Kung Fu. Japanese, Chinese, and who knows what else on Hawaii 5-0. Koreans on MASH. Japanese on Tales of the Gold Monkey. Vietnamese on Hunter. Mongolian on Stargate SG-1. And of course an alien something-or-other on Babylon 5 (and he's clearly a human, so that was the biggest stretch so far )
  16. *Kirk trips you with a move that would never REALLY work, but always works for him*
  17. *raised eyebrow, tilted head, smirk*
  18. I don't think the F-22 will be that hard to model. If anything, it's easy to. The only issue is figuring out what it can't do, not what it can. You just proceed from "sees everything, no one sees it", "outflies most everything in close", and "total glass cockpit". I think the old Novalogic and iMagic F-22 sims from the 90s did a good job modeling the plane. The worlds they were in were of variable quality, but the plane worked pretty much as unclassifed reports declare. It's a lot harder to model something like an F-15E or A-10 that have lots of limitations.
  19. Look at the math! $3 for 30 minutes. Unless you make less than $6/hr, that's a great value in savings for your time. Say you make $15/hr, in which case it would cost YOU $7.50 to "do it yourself". Unless of course you have unlimited free time, in which case your time is worth nothing so yes, it's cheaper to do it yourself. So that's it exactly. If you have the time yourself or don't want to spend, it's a DIY project. If you'd rather spend what time you have FLYING the sim instead of modding it, then for $3 you get a file you can grab and install in a couple of minutes and be up flying it in under 10.
  20. Altered that for you. I seriously doubt nearly as many people bought the F-14 skin pack as NA, but if it costs him less than $1000 and he sells it for $3 and 1000 people buy it...hey, that's $2000 profit.
  21. Just because you CAN do something...

It's not their mouth! It's just their teeth.
  22. If it's a "DCS" module, I would expect that. If it's not at that level, I'd hope for less. Either way, I'll be picky about what I get.
  23. Half the time I play SF2 I'm playing it stock! The main reasons are 1) even some of the stock planes I've barely touched and 2) stock games loads a LOT faster and sometimes I'm just in a "get it done quick" mood.
  24. All my work gone

FWIW, you can avoid crashes if you redo your PC often enough. Old parts = asking to fail, not that new ones don't, but they usually fail fast. So if you go a couple of months, you're fine for a few years. Don't go past 3 years though or you're on borrowed time!
