  1. I've got no problem with a game where MP extends the experience. I also understand the appeal of MP-only games, or those that might as well be, like CoD:MW or Battlefield or TF2.

The problem is too few games that focus on the SP side are being made now that aren't RPGs. Even there, the one RPG I WANT to see, KOTOR 3, is instead being made an MMO.

  2. I don't recall any Brits in the original Transformers except for Wreck-Gar, and he wasn't G1 anyway. The voices weren't the same, but they were good enough considering how little they said. Other than Prime and Megatron most lines went to new characters. Considering how little screentime any of them had that wasn't fighting, as opposed to the cartoons that spent all their time with them (because in animation it's the same cost to do robots or people while in a live action film the robots cost big $$ every shot you see) it doesn't surprise me you don't see much characterization.

As for Starscream aka Cobra Commander, the actor, Chris Latta, died over 15 years ago. I just don't know who else could've done that voice. The guy who does it now, including in the films, was actually in the original GI Joe as well, playing Low Light, and in the original Transformers, playing Silverbolt, so at least he has some pedigree.

  3. The problem with the AMD is that while 6 cores sounds great, only the very latest programs can take advantage of that and I'm pretty sure SF2 isn't one of them.

The 930 is certainly the better CPU, but keep in mind you have to get a pricier mobo and buy 3 sticks of RAM vs 2 for it. You can spec out the rest of the system ala carte, but the RAM/CPU/mobo trio is closely linked and you have to price the 3 together.

You may want to consider the core i7-870/875 instead. Similar price and performance but only LGA 1166 and the mobo is cheaper and you only need 2 sticks of RAM (dual vs triple channel).

  4. Well, that's the problem with making modern military weapons systems, they cost a ton of money. While it's rarely outside the capablities of a modern nation to make them, it's often outside their finances, so they sell them abroad to help pay for it. France merely has the reputation of selling the most because it goes it alone more often on systems, as opposed to international collaboration to spread out costs, when it probably didn't need to. That's because it's more about domestic technology R&D and production than the final product the military gets most of the time.

Let's face it, the Rafale has been Dassault's Windows Vista when it comes to sales compared to the Mirage 2000's Windows XP.

  5. Like I said, sometimes you need stealth and sometimes you don't. Weapons are precise enough now that it only limits the number of targets they could attack, not dictate whether it is destroyed.

You wouldn't send a stealth plane against a column of tanks anyway.

  6. They don't really know how much they'll cost in mass production, but they will be more costly than the current generation. As to how stealthy they are, no one knows that that's allowed to say! They should be the 3rd stealthiest plane out there after the B-2 and F-22.

As to how much they carry, sure, internally they carry less than any other plane out there, but they can also hang weapons under the wings, just like the F-22 can. When you don't need to be as stealthy you can let it hang out and be a bomb truck.

  7. Yes and no. They are making 3d camcorders, yes...which will be able to record REAL things in 3D. There's just no way to film a 3d movie and make it playback. You'd have to sync the camera precisely with the film for one thing, have it flicker at 24fps or whatever they use...no, that won't happen.

The problem is the stupid studios jumping on the 3D bandwagon with conversions that don't work and films that don't need it. Jackass 3D? Really? Why not The Horse Whisperer or Munich in 3D?

They should leave 3D for the action-oriented films alone, but even then it won't always work.

  8. LOL, no! The F-22 is dead. No one but the US will get any and the line is shutting down soon.

No, the answer will be F-35s. Note that Israel has F-15s and F-16s. Egypt has F-16s, Saudi has F-15s, Jordan has F-16s, Kuwait has F/A-18s.

After Israel gets F-35s, if those countries ask (and can afford it...ok other than Saudi which of course can) I'm pretty sure they'll get F-35s too.

  9. Well, let's face it a lot of the 3rd party plane work was done years ago for FE1, the release of FE2 consisted mainly of porting those over. I can't recall a single new-build airplane or terrain made for FE2. Besides Peter's FM/AI mod, there's not much tricky about modding FE2 to a great spot.

I think people are spending more time flying it than writing about it.

  10. I don't know, I felt the GI Joe flick had less to do with the old cartoons than Transformers did, not that I think the 2nd film was great or anything. However, I do have both of those on Bluray while GI Joe was just a rental!

Maybe the casting of the bad guys just left me flat. Oh, and half the good guys. Not bad actors, I just didn't think I was watching the characters I knew. Transformers bypassed a lot of that by creating new characters other than the major Autobots and Decepticons, whose characters were pretty spot-on.
