  1. Right, and that was my main point to begin with. Knowing how much time I have available to dedicate to it, I can't justify paying for P3 to myself.

I know several people who buy a game, play it one or maybe 2 days, and then never touch it again because with their limited time they're on to the next one already! I also know a guy who makes excuse after excuse for not buying a given new game and then instead replays game X for the 5th time (like playing the KOTOR RPG 4 times at 50hrs/each!) In their case, though, I think they have less money than they pretend to and can't afford to buy games even at $20 very often!

So for WWI fans with the time I think OFF is definitely worth a look. For those like me, however, who has spent probably 45% of my flight time in jets and 45% in WWII, WWI stuff just takes a back seat.

I even DL'd the MAW mod for CFS3 on its release...and still haven't installed it!!

  2. Like some others here, I don't care about it nor would I pay more for JUST that, but I think the option should be available for those who want it as long as it's not cost-prohibitive for TK to implement it.

In short, I've no problem with extra features being added that I will never use as long as it doesn't cost me anything or preclude a more useful feature (like aforementioned avionics or others) from being created!

  3. Basically for my 6 month-old to get older and out of the "needs hours of attention every day" phase!

Did I ever mention I only got maybe 5 hrs in phase 1? I don't even remember if I've ever gotten around to installing phase 2, actually...

Just aren't enough hours in the day or days in the week.

  4. Head injuries can be like that. That's why the resort insisted someone stay with her for quite a long time and kept asking her to see a doctor.

Could she have been saved had she gone immediately? We can't say at this point, we may never be able to. The tragedy is how preventable it was.

  5. I don't think the term "pointless" applies enough to a death like this. It's not like she was a life-long skiier that loved it, she was just trying it for the first time in a "maybe I'll like this" sort of way. I feel for Liam and their sons.

  6. Now we're hearing rumors that the new tanker competition may be postponed indefinitely...because the 135s are still all in great shape!! Really! They are! Pay no attention to that human beer tanker behind the curtain!

  7. A plane like that is a good idea at the same time you start hanging pylons on the F-22s and F-35s...when the major SAM threats are neutralized. Remember, the F-15 isn't worried about other planes, it's worried about SAMs!

In fact, it would be interesting to see what has a bigger RCS--a "silent Eagle" with its missiles inside the CFTs, or an F-22 or F-35 carrying external stores under the wings.

  8. LOL, no, a stick is NOT recommended. I last raced with a stick in the early 90s, when I "drove" World Circuit: Grand Prix from MPS with my CH stick.

Then TM came out with the T1...the first steering wheel for the PC. I got it and never looked back! After that one broke years later, I got an MS Sidewinder wheel, then an MS FF Sidewinder wheel. I was in heaven...until the day came when gameports were useless and no gameport/USB adapter would let the FF effects work. So I tried the Act Labs wheel for a couple of months but I couldn't get into it. Then like 5 years ago I got my MOMO and I've never left!

  9. Well like I said, I leave the cockpit on about 50% of the total time I'm in the cockpit of a given flight. I often find I have to turn it off if I want to land or taxi! I'll also turn it off in a dogfight or when attacking ground targets. For "cruising" I like it on so I can see all the instruments and things like fuel, RWR, mirrors, etc.

I also use external views from time to time, probably totaling about 10% of a given flight.

  10. I use the cockpits for certain periods of flight, but during others I also turn them off.

I always thought the cockpits should be on until I flew in my boss' Piper Aztec about 10 yrs ago. The front is dominated by the instrument panel, with the windows seemingly very small. Yet when you sit there and look out of it, it's like hitting the "cockpit off" switch...you don't see it all! I had the image of a wide-open expanse in front of me that seemed totally wrong if you actually looked at a pic of the way it was setup. I've not been able to find any exact pics of how his was after the GPS upgrade, but these give an idea: http://www.aerospaceweb.org/aircraft/cockpits/pa23/

Of course, you don't really see how big the windows are in those either. Here's an external pic that's also misleading, but if you look closely you will see that the lower part of the window is actually blocked from the inside.

There is a lot of mental repositioning along with eyes/head to go "heads down" and look at it, and I think making cheap HUDs for GA would be a gold mine to anyone who could do it.

You're guaranteed to "lose sight" if you go heads down, and that leads to "lose the fight."
