  1. I don't know, that's been a problem with military sims since day 1, yet there have been ways around it. Either you approximate or you omit or you deliberately make inaccurate.

Longbow 2 had the radar. Does ED really need to make something better than that, but if they can't they just won't do it? Sounds to me like the DCS series is going to be short-lived if they turn down platform after platform because of classified material.

  2. They'd said 9 months before, so we should expect it by the end of summer. I'm not sure if the A-10A or AH-64 is due next after that, but I'd guess the A-10A since it's just a different cockpit/avionics...FM and most weapons would be identical (like the Su-25/25T in Flaming Cliffs).

I don't remember if they said they were putting the Longbow radar on the 64D or not, but I hope so.

  3. I had twin 5.25" FDDs on my old XT so I could put disks 1 and 2 in at the same time. Made loading faster, as it would automatically switch to disk 2 when it finished loading 1, and then I'd put 3 in the first drive. When 2 finished, it would start loading 3 and then I'd take out 2 and put 4 in the 2nd drive.

  4. Interesting how many Europeans qualify in the 25-50% range.

The weird thing is this goes mostly on how you say certain words or which ones you use, which really doesn't speak much to attitudes and THAT is usually the defining quality of whether one is "Yankee" or "Dixie."

  5. I'd say "hope your kids don't see them" is more like it.

The UK release of Tornado was a different publisher than the US and packaging was different. Here it looked more like another Falcon addon thanks to SpecHolo publishing it. Not so there.

  6. I thought planes like the 737 were optimized for 36k ft or so. Even if it's not flying right over the water at under 1000 ft like the P-3s do, I still would figure it's not going to climb that high between buoy drops. That means what, 10k ft or so? As mentioned, you can't shut off any engines when you only have 2, which the P-3s and others used to do to when you don't need to go fast. So while the normal range of a 737 far outstrips a P-3, it's going to burn a lot more fuel with climbing and descending and operating at non-optimal altitudes?

The slow part is because if you find something and need to turn around and drop buoys in a certain area, well, airliners aren't known for great agility.

  7. 36% for me, spent almost my entire life in Florida. However, my family are all from NY/NJ. Plus Florida isn't the south, as stated. It's the summer home for rest of the country and the "we're going to turn this into our old home" for everywhere south of the border.

  8. I got a 15" Dell model with an 8600GT and a C2D @ 2.4GHz for a balance between power and size. The 17" were just too big for traveling easy, but I wanted something that I could at least play some games at moderate power on.

TK's sims are out, though, because I use a Cougar and that's not portable! I use it primarily for RTS and older (pre-Crysis!) FPS.
