  1. I had all 4 out at once when I was in college. I don't remember exactly how long it took, around an hour or so. I wasn't asleep, though, it was just localized.

I didn't go back to the dentist for 9 yrs after that.

  2. That's easy...I want a total sim like promised since 1991 with the release of Falcon 3. I want to fly any plane, from any country, in any era, over any part of the world, with awesome air and ground AI, full MP support (missions, random missions, campaigns) as well as excellent solo play, with near photo-real graphics, smooth performance, and fully scalable difficulty from total arcade to Falcon 4+.

So, since THAT isn't going to happen, nor does Lucasarts seem inclined to make another Jedi Knight game, I figure I should hope to win the Lotto since the odds are better.

  3. Despite its myriad drawbacks and limitations, Il-2:46 is still the best bet. I also have a heavily modded CFS3 install on my PC, but I can't really recommend it anymore. As mentioned you can also mod any of the TW sims into a WWII-era sim complete with maps and planes and ground objects, but it's not really the easiest way to go.

  4. Yeah, I had someone tell me about that button last night. I never noticed it before, it's not as well laid out as the screen was in LOMAC, which I didn't think possible!

Anyway, that's what I'll be doing this long weekend...messing with the axes to get the thing under control!

  5. My problems seem to happen at the instant of takeoff! It always starts to roll back onto the tail and my attempts to correct it are never good enough.

A major issue I've seen is that while Flanker and LOMAC had in-game stick adjustment abilities for things like dead zone and curves, DCS does not. That means I have to do it with my Cougar software itself, which I'm far less adept at.

Overall, though, it just seems far too twitchy. I almost feel like I've got a digital axis, with every push of the stick no matter how small being almost "to the stops". No other sim gives me this issue.

  6. I'm not saying VC didn't have flaws, but mostly it was victim of when it came out. I think 6 months earlier and it would've been seen better. It wasn't anything to see visually or technically, but after the first couple of levels, if you toughed it out, you really got drawn in. Booby traps, tunnels, arty, grenades, wading waist-deep thru rivers at night, actually having a squad you could give orders too that had personalities and roles...

Oh, a major reason I fly for other countries is because I dislike going fantasy by flying things like US-flagged Flankers or Me-262s. I want to fly plane X, and if it was only flown by country Z, then that's who I'll fly for. Flying a 262 against He-111s is just wrong, like flying a P-51 against B-17s.

  7. I took more years of Spanish than I can remember, but I've had little use for it in the last 7 years or so and I've forgotten a lot.

I still can get the gist of what a given sentence means, but sometimes I miss the nuances. I can read it better than hear it due to all the different accents for Spanish. Cuban can be a real pain to the ear with how they drop their d's.

    They don't say "ustedes"...they say "uste-es".

However, I don't really try to speak or write it at all.
