  1. Yes, I do NOT recommend DL and installing a module you don't plan on buying or you WILL get that message forever.

I DL'd and installed BS2, A-10C, and CA (I already owned BS2 and A-10C) but I was planning on waiting a bit till I bought CA. However, once the stupid thing was always popping up on me, and since I WAS going to get it anyway, I caved and bought it then.

I think I DL'd the P-51 module, but since I'm not planning on getting it right now I'm glad I waited to install it.

  2. Are any of the mods going to be freeware?

Depends on your definition of "mods". If you mean "flyable a/c", then I would guess NO. I think because ED gives some help to all these modules they charge the modder somehow, making "free" into "the modder pays ED to let others have a free plane" and that won't fly!

If you mean things like zzzspace's sound replacement (which is out already), or perhaps 3D model replacements for some of the AI-only planes or ground units, sure. Lots of that was already made for FC/FC2 and can be brought over with ease.

So things like Stary has done, things like sky, terrain, and effects, along with sprucing up any of the other visuals in-game, I'm sure could still be free. New units I believe will have to be pay. I just hope that the whole "everyone sees every plane released and can fly with or against them as AI, but you have to buy to fly" sticks. I don't want to have to buy a P-51 to see it flying against a convoy or anything.

  3. I've not tried the Chap yet, but I've played as a tank and an arty piece. I'm not sure how to work the arty right yet, frankly, because its sights are only good WVR and arty is best BVR!

It's still beta and a bit rough around the edges, but it IS fun. The first thing I hope they fix (purely for immersion) is the lack of acceleration/decel. Your vehicle is at a stop, it's now going 10km/h, it's stopped. Doesn't really change how it plays, as I said it's purely aesthetic.

I really need to spend more time with all the DCS stuff, though.

  4. One of his best IMO. IIRC, it was the first of many, MANY films he made with Denzel Washington.

Also, I will say this: Compared to his brother Ridley, I like MORE of Tony's films (I've watched and enjoyed most of them) than I do Ridley's (who has films like White Squall and that Columbus one I just couldn't even make myself watch). Now when Ridley is good he blows Tony anyway, but Tony was far more consistent. Say Tony's films were almost always at least a "B" while Ridley would vaccilate from "A"s to "D"s. Pick a film from them at random and I was more likely to enjoy Tony's than Ridley's, even though some of Ridley's best I have on DVD and the only Tony one I have is Top Gun. Actually, I keep meaning to get Crimson Tide on Bluray, it was a great one.

  5. Case in point: Soon-Tek Oh. He's Korean (as the name indicates), although he was born in Japan. I'm not sure which languages he speaks fluently, other than accented English, but I've seen him play:

A Japanese officer in The Final Countdown.

A Chinese cop in Man With the Golden Gun.

Various Chinese characters on Kung Fu.

Japanese, Chinese, and who knows what else on Hawaii 5-0.

    Koreans on MASH.

Japanese on Tales of the Gold Monkey.

    Vietnamese on Hunter.

    Mongolian on Stargate SG-1.

And of course an alien something-or-other on Babylon 5 (and he's clearly a human, so that was the biggest stretch so far  )

  6. I don't think the F-22 will be that hard to model. If anything, it's easy to. The only issue is figuring out what it can't do, not what it can.

You just proceed from "sees everything, no one sees it", "outflies most everything in close", and "total glass cockpit". I think the old Novalogic and iMagic F-22 sims from the 90s did a good job modeling the plane. The worlds they were in were of variable quality, but the plane worked pretty much as unclassifed reports declare. It's a lot harder to model something like an F-15E or A-10 that have lots of limitations.
