  1. Actually, all religions are destructive. Simply because the members want to believe that they have picked the right one and therefore all the others are wrong and therefore not valid.

So if breaking up marriages and families is considered equivalent to ISIS' repression and killing, then I guess we can lump all of them into one big pot.

That's why I think religion should be banished. Whatever good it does is far outweighed by the evil done in its name. People should be smart enough to understand they don't need some "holy" man to tell them how to think and behave.

You can convince a country or even one man not to fight another over resources or politics. You can't once religion is involved.

  2. It's not at all uncommon for birds to serve in small numbers in other services for some time. I mean, some would be very unusual, like an F-22 in USN livery or an Army painted SR-71  but when it comes to these types like the O-2 you will sometimes find evidence they were in places you wouldn't expect.

  3. It CAN be done. They reopened the U-2 line. They reopened the C-5 line. They can do it with the F-22.

That said, it will cost some money to make an "F-22B" that will have differences due to obsolescence. In other words, to have made another 200 F-22As then would've been cheaper than making 200 F-22Bs tomorrow, but the flipside is they could come off the line using advances made in the F-35 program and they'll have a decade plus less life on their airframes.

  4. Someone finally resurrected this concept?

I was doing this over 20 years ago in Domark's Flight Sim Toolkit. It was fun aside from the fact that a plane wouldn't fly "right" if you copied it in there. You needed to fudge it.

There was two parts for each plane--the 3d model (what you see) and the 2d flight model (how the game calculates it should fly). Make the 2D FM look like the 3D model and usually it wouldn't fly. So you tweak the 2D layout and other stats until it flies properly, but the 2D shape had no similarity to the 3D at that point.

Still, great fun making your own planes.

  5. I like old school weapons... but that pocket SMG rocks. I'd order one if I could)

Too bad. everything is illegal here. You can go to jail for a screwdriver if you can't explain why you have it with you.

Do you mean a screwdriver composed of steel and wood or a screwdriver composed of orange juice and vodka?

  6. We get a ton of them here in FL, but they're usually on the lower end of the scale and do only superficial damage aside from one or two unlucky homes and cars. We only see EF-2's and above during hurricanes (yes, tornados spawn in 'canes, but you usually can't see them because of everything going on :) )

In fact, there was one in my neighborhood just a couple of months ago, but it was pretty weak.

  7. There are periodic sales for DCS, you just have to keep an eye out. Best way is to sign up for their newsletters where they announce them. Alternatively when you start DCS World sales are announced on the main page in the little banner, but this does require you run the game every few days to make sure you don't miss them as opposed to just checking email. :)

You can start with either FC3, which gives you multiple planes for the price of one, or one of the older planes like the A-10C which aren't pricey anymore.

The only reason I have as many planes as I do is I've been accumulating them over 6 years now. I don't have even half the total available, though.

  8. No, AFAIK the Steam install and an ED install won't mix. While the license keys in some cases are portable, it's really best to pick one method and stick with it.

I've stuck with ED, despite the slower overall DL speed, for various reasons.

One, ED gets 100% of that and doesn't share with Valve like Steam sales require. While I don't enjoy paying more for something, if prices are equal (and they usually are) I prefer ED getting it all given how much less than Valve they have.

Two, if you ever are interested in an alpha or beta (such as the Viggen or NTTR terrain), Steam is out of the running and you must use ED.

  9. I find one 720P version,but it's a little crooked and looks like a trapezoid...

That was likely done to fool the automatic software looking for copyright violations.

The most common reason I could imagine for the episode having aired but then not being available for purchase later is that it used music or something else that they either should not have used because it was never cleared in the first place, or they only had air rights and not home video redistribution rights.

There are known instances of films and TV shows that had music of one type or another in it that was replaced for home video. If they didn't bother to replace or remove the offending parts, they would be forced to remove it from sale.
