Series 1 in Windows 7 64-bit
DoctorQuest replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Not sure. It runs fine for me under Win 7 64 bit. Are you running a stock install? Where do you have it installed? -

The avionics must run under Windows.

Issues With Setting Up in Windows 7
DoctorQuest replied to dixieflyer's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Are you doing everying as administrator? By this I mean did you right click the bhah setup exe (whatever it's called) and select "Run as Administrator?" That has been the biggest issue I've found with Win7. I have to believe there are other bhah folks around here running Win7...... -
Well it's official

Take your time. I've been waiting a lot of years for a replacement for "Fleet Defender". I can wait a bit longer. -
The man always looked like he was having fun with every part he played. While I liked him as Col. Potter I STILL get a real kick out of him as the crazy Major General Steele earlier in the series.

I'd be afraid to ever fly the silly thing....

DLC Screwed up my Mod Folders Aircraft inis
DoctorQuest replied to danwatto's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
For good or ill, I always try to leave the "stock" mod folders as is and create new folders specifically for modded installs. It is easy enough to do and it seems to avoid this type of issue. Keep in mind......TK has given us a sim that is very, very easy to mod but he can't be expected to support all the various mods out there (and keep the price reasonable). I don't have an issue with the idea that you mod a stock aircaft in a stock mod folder at your own risk. Yes, I need to re-copy a handful of EXEs when I put a patch on but that is far easier that worrying about what INIs were touched in my stock mods folder(s). -
Windows 7 professional 64 compatability
DoctorQuest replied to Tuba2's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Running stuff is not often as hard as INSTALLING the stuff. I had to muck about with IL-2 to get in installed but once past that it runs like a champ. In general I've had better luck with Win 7 than I expected. Of the ones you listed I think you'll be fine. You may just have to bypass the IL2 "install menu" and to straight the the setup.exe. You should not have to muck with XP mode. -
Strange Problem
DoctorQuest replied to End1e551's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
This only happens with SF2??? It sounds like malware/virus to me. I've had some popups that would not die and invariably they were some sort of bad software. What anti-virus are you running? -

How many of you play IL-2?

Is there any way we could start a combatace.com IL-2 online club? -

And it's available cheap at www.gog.com if you don't have it and are interested. -

I consider it my virtual WWII aircraft museum. I can fly aircraft in IL-2 that I cannot fly anywhere else. While the FMs may not be perfect, they are pretty darned good. Flying a simulated B-25 or PE-2 mission is a treat for an aviation buff like myself. I know a lot of folks are working to make SF2 a good WWII sim but they have a long way to go to get to IL-2 and, of course, there are some WWII mods unavailable to the unworthy like myself. -

Will the Desert Storm mod work with WOI?
DoctorQuest replied to misterbobleh's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
One issue will be the fact that the DS terrain references the GermanyCE.CAT file. That may give you some grief. I think it will run but you will be missing terrain objects. You may be able to modify the DS terrain INIs to use the Israel terrain CAT file but I'm not sure how well that would work. -
Agreed. GoG is one of the few places that gets my gaming dollars these days. Thirdwire is another, of course.
