Which Sci-Fi film would you like to see made ?
DoctorQuest replied to Syrinx's topic in Sci-Fi Simulations
Forever War would be good. I think it's in progress but "Rendevous with Rama" has been on my list for a while. "Ringworld" by Larry Niven comes to mind. It could be a bi*ch to do but Roger Zelazny's "Amber" series would be interesting to see. -
I am a wannabe. If I had it to do over again I would have seriously considered commercial aviation. (Eyes would keep me out of military flying.) I ended up going with IT (25+ years) and have done OK but since I was very young I have always had a passion for aircraft. I always looked up when an airplane flew over. I have gotten some stick time in C172s and had the pleasure of doing an hour in a T-6 Texan. I have also crewed for and flown in a hot air balloon. I still have aspirations of getting a private pilots license. But as they say, "If God had meant Man to fly, He would have given him more money."

Sweet ride..... Thanks for sharing.

Whats Your Favorite Airplane Movie
DoctorQuest replied to PIGHUNTA69's topic in Military and General Aviation
Strategic Air Command - I've always been a huge Jimmy Stewart fan and June Allyson was a cutie. I now live in Omaha so it's very real. Spirit of St. Louis - Not a big fan of Lindbergh but (again) Jimmy does the pilot very well. Interesting point about this movie is that Stewart is YEARS older than Lindbergh was when the event actually took place. Flight of the Phoenix (original) Did anyone mention Memphis Belle? -
Not sure about multiple language support buy Microsoft Speech SDK has a decent text-to-speech function. It was free the last time I downloaded it.

I'm not sure how many of you are fellow Battlefield fans. This was a British series produced in the late 90s that in my opinion is some of the best WWII documentaries I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot.) They did a good job of mixing maps, biographical sketches of national and military leaders with decent amounts of contemporary footage. In any event, since I first saw them on PBS I have been trying to find the series on DVD (or VHS even) and have not had a lot of luck. There are numerous UK stores that sell them but then you are dealing with DVD format issues, etc. I had about given up when I received a recent copy of the catalog from Historic Aviation.com and they had a couple of the episodes for sale. Further searches on bestbuy.com and suncoast.com had several of the episodes available and more coming. Anyway, not sure if anyone really cares, but good fortune should be shared......

Am I to assume this is not on vacation? Sorry, I really can't help much. I have always wanted to visit the Far East, but the closest I have gotten so far is Alaska.

Seriously. I don't think the kid had been keeping up with the news. "Overpowering the flight crew" is nigh on impossible these days. You could threaten the flight attendents, I suppose, but I suspect the airlines have thought that scenario out and have contigencies to protect aircraft and passengers.

Thanks! Yes, I saw those, too, and was actually in the process of ordering when I stumbled across the compatibility issue.

At 27 years old, my Cockatiel, Igor, finally died
DoctorQuest replied to streakeagle's topic in The Pub
It is very hard to lose a pet. I don't know why. I have had friends and family die and it never makes me feel the way I do when I lose a pet. Maybe I am wired wrong. I don't cry much. I'm real close right now. RIP Igor. -
I still have a perfectly good Voodoo 3 PCI card that I run on a Windows 98 partition specifically for running EAW, RB3D and Jane's F-15. Now, can you BUY one now? That's a different question. Maybe Amazon or eBay...... You'll have to pry mine out of my cold, dead hands.

F-117, B-2 and F-22
DoctorQuest replied to Lorddemonicus's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Welcome! There are several sticky topics in the General Discussion forum designed to keep folks up-to-date on Works In Progress. Here is one.... http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=18809 -
I am done with LOMAC. It is off my system. I will leave it at that. I get my Russian fix from Flanker 2.5 and my Eagle and Warthog fix from WOE. I fly a lot of RBII, EAW and Jane's F-15. I have also recently gotten back into F-22 Total Air War. I like IL-2 for the variety of interesting historical aircraft. F4AF gives me the Falcon and Jane's F/A-18 gives me the Hornet. I fly FS2004 for serious training and touring the world. As a simmer, life is pretty good these days. EDIT: Dangit! I did post to this once already...... Oh well.....

This is terrible. I think the only game I bought in 2007 was First Eagles. And then the expansion. I have been so busy with real life that I just have not been my usual game consuming self. No, wait. I did buy Harpoon Commander's Edition and I like it so far but, again, have not had a lot of time with it.

God, Hello Kitty........... When my daughter was a toddler she had a Hello Kitty walk-behind toy that was probably just a little louder than an assault rifle. DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING. I should have saved it to give to HER kids. Nice paint job on the rifle, though......

And then I need a volunteer to do a Nebraska Air National Guard skin for it...... -
RF-4C needed
DoctorQuest replied to ojcar's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sure I knew that from another thread (I think it was specifically about the RF-4E) but I'm still not sure what happened to the RF-4C that was uploaded by Doghouse. -
RF-4C needed
DoctorQuest replied to ojcar's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Interesting... The only RF-4C Im aware of that is currently available is with the Yankee Air Pirate payware add-on. I am pretty sure there is also one in progress for a Desert Storm mod. EDIT: Yes, I found an entry in the "File Announcment" forum, but the "Download this file" link is dead....... -
I have a problem...
DoctorQuest replied to yalcin_42's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
Can you be more specific in your definition of "not working?" -
I watched the first episode and agree it's got possibilities. Awkward issue. When the steal the punks' clothing do they take the underwear? EWWWWWW!!!!!!!! I need to go back and watch the first two movies since this appears to take place after the events in T2.
-
I should probably watch it again. I might have been in a bad mood or something. Trying not to read the spoilers here. I am looking forward to watching the show.
-
Recording it. Loved I and II. Hated III. (Kinda like "Aliens.....") Interested to see what they do with this.
-
I would recommend everyone watch the movie "Network". It is a frightening predictor of what we are currently experiencing.

Another cockpit glass color question
DoctorQuest posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Sorry if I missed this in the KB.... I have been struggling with the "dark" color of the canopy on some of the TW aircraft. I have explored the skin folders for the aircraft in question and cannot for the life of me find a TGA that controls the canopy color. Is it possible for the canopy lod to have a "tint" defined that cannot be overridden? (Short of hacking the LOD, of course.) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. KK
