  1. Interesting..... I wonder if this would be an answer to the Jane's F-15 CTD under XP as well. I happen to have just rebuilt my system and left one of my drives as FAT32. Maybe........
  2. I want my XP Back

Boy, do I feel old. I'm still pi$$ed XP needs 1.5GB
  3. how to open a .rar file?

7-zip has the advantage of also supporting 7z files which is a format used by some other sites for Thirdwire addons. Go with it and you've got all the bases covered.
  4. I want my XP Back

I will not argue with the fact that we will all be going to some flavor of Vista someday, I just don't think today is the day. I am not happy that computer sellers jumped on the Vista bandwagon quite so soon. Having XP as an option would be a good idea but I realize that costs money as well. Side note: After working with my wife's boss' terribly infected laptop I am at the point of recommending to friends and family that if you can get away with it from an application standpoint you should buy a Mac. Someone should sue MS for producing an OS that is so open to attack. MHO.
  5. I want my XP Back

Reinstall XP and wait for some Vista service packs. I'm it IT and my company isn't planning to even LOOK at Vista until sometime in 2008 and then it will be after testing the living crap out of it.
  6. OPENGL slow

After reinstalling drivers for some reason all my opengl apps are very, very slow. I have searched and searched for ideas but get WAY too many hits to wade through so I thought I'd put the subject up here and see if anyone had any ideas. I am not ready to spend $10 on a drivercleaner program that may not fix the problem in any event. Thoughts, suggestions?????
  7. The use of DX10 would take me out of the market for these sims. I have no need or desire to upgrade to Vista. It will be a long time before I can afford a computer upgrade.
  8. OPENGL slow

Disregard. I decided to take the opportunity to do a long overdue system rebuild. Thanks.
  9. How do you look in santa thread

    Hey, you ASKED!!
  10. Of course, that exactly what THEY want us to believe. Hey, I've watched the X-Files. I know how these things work. Next you're going to try to convice me there is no Santa Claus. BS. I've seen him in a MOVIE. Gotta go scratch my implant........
  11. I have a win98 paritition with a Voodoo 3 card just so I can run JF-15 in all it's glory.
  12. YES!!!! Very, very nice.... You're right. The toilet can wait.......
  13. Ok. WEAPONS PACK REQUEST!!!!!!!! Um, what's REMF? (I kinda think I know what MF is............) Later....... Found it. Rear Echelon Mother Frakkers.........
  14. I will try to keep my comments objective and civil. One big issue for me is that F4AF is being actively supported by the developer whereas LOMAC has been pretty much ignored by the developer since the release of Flaming Cliffs. Other than that they are both good sims with different objectives in mind for gameplay. They are really way too different to compare head-to-head. I agree with previous posts. For the price get both.
  15. I have found one parameter that specifically speaks to this: BaseRCSModifier. I have been experimenting with it but is is rather inconclusive at this point. Does anyone one know how to determine the actual RCS of an aircraft. (Yes, I know it varies depending on LOS from the radar, etc.) I am assuming that BaseRCSModifier is used in a calculation along with the structure of the airframe to determine the final RCS. Anyway, any hints or help would be appreciated. Thanks. KK
  16. I Passed......

IMHO you have the right idea.... My wife and I made the concious decision 25 years ago (geez..... that sounds like a long time) to have one of us hold down a career and one of us watch over the kids. We may not have as big a house or as fancy a car as my peers but we appear to have reasonably well adjusted kids that are now pursuing their own ambitions somewhat successfully. My wife worked in day care for years and saw way too many "power" parents that obvious could not or would not take the time necessary with their children. I realize it is hard these days to make it without both parents working but sometimes we need to take a very hard look at what we consider to be the definition of "making it." How many of our parents had more than one TV (not to mention computers)? Sorry. I'm preaching. Good luck, Dave, to you and your wife.
  17. I Passed......

Nicely done! Curious..... Do you have any folks under your command? The word "manage" has a lot of meanings....
  18. Check your radar difficulty setting. It appears to affect how easy it is to "see" stealthy targets. Also keep in mind (from previous posts) that patches have affected the way BaseRCSModifier is used. You may need to use a negative number to achieve stealth.
  19. What kind of error are you getting? If you are registered I didn't think anything would stop you.
  20. A-10C

  21. Radar won't work

I would wonder if this would create a conflict with the "Radar Range" function which is normally assigned to the Page Down key. Did you also remap the Radar Range function?
  22. Radar won't work

You're using Ctrl-R to turn in on first, correct? What aircraft are you flying?
  23. UFO's: Have you seen one?

The closest thing I've every seen was an interesting effect (can't think of the name) where car headlights are bounced off clouds at JUST the right angle to produce a "glowing flying saucer" moving across the sky. Took me a few minutes to figure out what it was. I've also seen aircraft with their landing lights on at some angles that really looked weird, but after a few minutes it was obvious what it was. But, no, I've never seen anything that I could not eventually identify.
