Community produced game?

I'm not trying to diminish the idea, but this IMO sounds like what Falcon3 was. In the time it took to add the F/A-18 and MiG-29 with new theaters the sim's engine was dying out, as did Sierra's interest in doing study sims. -

For the WW2 Pacific, The F4U Corsair has NEVER had a study done, and was always pushed into the back seat in all the other sims which have included it. -

Your right FC! The MSFS engine hasn't touched jet combat outside of user made jets for Combat Flight Sim and it's sucessors. The reality is that the CFS series wasn't that great to begin with. The only reason I put any amount of time into it was becuse it was the only thing at the time that could do what I wanted (continuing Carrier ops with the F4U in the Pacuific, even somewhat historical). Even then I had to do a lot myself to CFS2 to get what I wanted. I think the IL-2 series may have pushed the door for CFS towards closed. IL-2 is by no means perfect, but even with severe limitations imposed by it's creater, it's still IMO better than CFS was. -

So, are you going to tell the consumer who pays $50 they will have their sim in "2 weeks"? I think the idea is good, in fact it was already tried to some extent in the WW2, WW1 and Korea time periods with the Targetware series. Target: Rabaul, Target: Korea, and I think it was Target: Flanders. The intent was massively Multi Player sims without predjuduce for one side or the other, and more historical matchups (IE no spits and P-51s fighting Corsairs and Wildcats). -
Well, maybe not. A very strong ally to the dark side, the element of surprise is. We had an F-4E with a C-130 silhouette painted on the splitter plate. I had asked the crew chief why a C-130? His response was that one of the wing’s favorite LTs (not liked at all) made a boneheaded error during a guns pass on a C-130 during a red flag exercise. He overshot. This C-130 happened to have an AIM-9 loaded and the range pod. The wizzo was quite upset when LT arrogance got them both shot down by a C-130. The crew chief said he painted the C-130 silhouette as a reminder to the LT, and that it should have been an F-4 painted on the C-130.

MF F-14 cockpit repaint
drdoyo replied to The Trooper's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Trooper, are you using avionics70.dll, or avionics60.dll? The reason I ask is because the stock and standalone WOV or SFP1 doesn't have the avionics70.dll. That's why the F-14D pit would have problems. I could be mistaken, but it looks like the avionics70.dll in the screens. -
Jedi mind tricks don't work on her young padawan. She is from a species called woman.

A-10C and SU-27?
drdoyo replied to WoEpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Could be that the missing box is why they can't show the simulator. -
Since I'm not in the loop anymore I have to wonder if the longron problem has been classified as a extrusion defect from the foundry that produced the extruson, or if it was lifetime fatigue failure. If the problem is lifetime fatigue, than all F-15s (A,B,C,and D) are succeptable since they are basically flown in the same manner. Where as the F-15E while capable, is not routinely tasked with high G knife fights a majority of the time they fly and would be less succeptable. I find it also surprising if this is the case that the F-15As and Bs have not shown more instances of longeron failure. Reguarding the opposite, a foundry defect would be limited to the airframes built with the undetected batch of flawed extrusion. I totally agree that the HANG jet didn't suffer from longeron failure. The report said the jet was uncontorllable, not breaking up.

Thanks Typhoid!! I appreciate any help you can give.

PSP6 is Paint Shop Pro 6, my preferred painting tool (ducks before Dave throws brick ). The Eagle is the squadron emblem on the 1st squadron Flankers. There is a shot of it in the powerpoint slide show on Su-33 #61 but I can't seem to find a good shot of it so I can make a decal for a few skin WIPs.

Thanks a bunch Typhoid!! Time to re-open PSP6 P.S. You wouldn't happen to have a descent photo of that 1st squadron Eagle would you?

*In best russian accent* Hmmm, Vill try zis on MiG-29K in next few days. -
Um,.... yeah. Maybe he could come in on Saturday and pull that one off. ........maybe Sunday too. Seriously, Southwest means it was a 737. A 737 with a bulletproof (federal regulation post 911) door locked from inside the flightdeck. How was he going to gain access again?

You mean the Airbus that went into the trees at Farnborough? That is a scarey thought.

Operation Tainted Cigar bright water color...
drdoyo replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Those pics are definately not normal Malibu. I fly over the area on a daily basis, sometimes to Havana, but usually to the Bahamas and I'm very impressed with how well the OTC team created the terrain. It really has a genuine tropical shallow water feel! The team really captured a good representation of the look of the area. -
So I've been flying the MiG-29C...

There was a post a few months ago about a decimal being out of place in the data.ini file. It should be in the SFP1 general forum, or the mods and skinning forum. I don't remember which off hand. -
It's common practice with most airlines that the Captain will fly one leg, and the First Officer will fly the next, or in some way split the day's flying between them. While one is flying, the other is working the radios, and keeping up with other enroute tasks. Here's food for thought. I logged 2000 hours in the Be-1900D. In my last couple of months on the Be-1900 before transitioning to the EMB-120, I had more time in the airplane than some of the Captains I was flying with, and more time in the airplane than a couple of them had total time . Just because someone is in the right seat, doesnt mean they aren't experianced.

Australia goes with Fullbacks?
drdoyo replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
IMHO if Austrailia doesn't buy the F-15E, then the SU-34 is the only logical replacement for the F-111. It has the needed range. It has capabilities to defend itself against the capabilities of the SU-30s in the inventories of Austrailia's neighbors to the north. It's those capabilities and lack of needed range that has caused the Austrailian analysts to grow concerned with hornets and super hornets. -
Here Here!! I put off buying this for a loooong time, and finally broke down in Sept. The biggest dissappointment for me was I don't feel the limitless immursion of space. It feels like playing inside of a box on a shelf. That way is always down, and look out, there is the side of the box.
