Carrier Missions Pack (SFP1/SFG/WOE) V2.10
Typhoid replied to comrpnt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
very, very nice. works well in WOE. I don't think in reality we ever took the carrier quite that far south........... I've been playing with a few mission sets in that area based on stuff that "could have" (almost) happened around that time frame. I'll stay away from the '86 events and stick with some missions loosely based around 88 on for both there and the Bekka Valley "almost invitational". -

doesn't always delete duplicates. If there is a slight difference in the naming conventions, the old ones remain. I've slowly been deleting duplicates...... -
Community produced game?
Typhoid replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
not sure the business model will work too well. but it might over a longer period of time. In other words, I doubt you would get the up front investment, but over time you would probably get that number in sales. You would have to have a "no promises" clause somewhere in that the project could crash and nothing might not ever be fielded. I would be astonished if TK went along with this idea. Doesn't seem to meet his business model. But I like the idea and I would even be willing to chip in for a copy, in advance. -

Soviet incursion into Japanese airspace
Typhoid replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
the Bears continued onto a run against the Nimitz and were intercepted/escorted by Hornets. -
The Russian carrier Kuznetsov with Flankers, helos and what looks like an Su-25 embarked as it recently passed through the Straights of Gibraltar leaving the sunny Med for her return trip to Murmansk. The Russian fleet scheduler should be shot for sending that crew back home into the Arctic in February!! nice shots. the link is in the slideshow.

might be tough since she is back in Murmansk.

Braile, perhaps.....

that and the fact he'd have to download all of his fuel to have enough payload for the missile. No, wait.......

Flying as Wingie
Typhoid replied to Rambler 1-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
sure. you tell your wingman to take out the target you've selected and then you fly wing. Works in air to air and air to ground. -
we did once on the Hawkeye. Get with the program! heh heh we'll help you all out!

So I've been flying the MiG-29C...
Typhoid replied to Apocal's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
"Also does it seem to be a little bit to unstable in normal flight. " it is that. Seems to have to much adverse yaw or something, it wants to roll rather than fly steady and tends to fall off to one side or the other too easily. -

anti-shipping missions in campaign
Typhoid replied to Canadair's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
always? I get one in about 20 that goes haywire in single mission. very odd. -
always a never ending chore. when on deployment anytime we were inport somewhere the painters would be over the side painting away. On the Kuz's cruise, they didn't make enough stops to keep up with that chore. So the North Atlantic in winter has taken its toll. I remember a crossing that not only took of paint, we lost antenaes, catwalk and parts of airplanes......

anti-shipping missions in campaign
Typhoid replied to Canadair's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
well...... anti-shipping just doesn't work too well in campaigns even after setting the missions to anti-ship exclusively. The game engine doesn't like it in campaign mode. I do get some, but just not realistic or reliably. single missions though do work well. Just can't generate from a carrier. I got better results from a land-based squadron dedicated to anti-shipping, but that only works less than half the time. From a carrier based squadron the game engine wants to assign other missions even when those are set to zero. and the targets show up in strange places - like in the middle of the south of France...... ah well....... -
New Carriers
Typhoid replied to TurtleHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've been playing with some carrier missions so keep an eye on the mission download section. Maybe something will show up...... -
I wonder if there are any F-14's left in the boneyard......... I'm thinking - run the Raptor line around the clock!!

USS Trenton/INS Jalashwa Accident Ridden?
Typhoid replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
oddly enough, when I was on the 6th Fleet Staff the Trenton deployed to the Med. Or tried to anyway. She spent most of the deployment in port trying to fix her engineering plant and we almost had to have her towed home. at least, I think it was the Trenton. It was a while back..... -
ahhhhh Those are the only shots that I have. But I'll poke around a bit. Not much coverage of that wing so not a lot of shots around of it.
