I had the honor to attend the ceremony today at Cheyenne Mountain. We went to war that day and NORAD has never stood down. Still vigilant and on watch.

In view of the failure to have a Status of Forces Agreement, my understanding is that we withdrew ALL forces except for those directly connected with the Embassy. So no training mission, no support, no contractors (unless directly contracted by Irag) etc. I may have missed some details somewhere but I thought we were outa there. Zip. Zero. Nada. Nyet.

the Iranians certainly performed some minor miracles to keep a small fraction of those aircraft still flying. Reportedly, they had a fair amount of success with the AIM-54A's, depending on which reporting one chooses to believe. the point, though, is that we'd have a very good idea of what countermeasures/tactics to use should we ever have to go up against them. That particular advantage has been expoited by various militaries of various countries against former friends on a number of occasions over the years.

Concur, Dave. They could have a winner with the Thrawn series. Outstanding material and lots of potential plot twists. And get the casting right for Mara Jade!!!! But of course, anything can be wrecked by the wrong cook... .....
