He did, but a $h!tstorm of letters served to derail that. My letter to my Senators was just one of thousands.

Especially one that could get that high! (NOT) Pure conspiracy fantasy.

Wildfire season across the country and a dry winter leaving us in trouble. Almost a year after Colorado Springs was hit with a catastrophic fire, we have another one burning through Black Forest just north of us. Thousands evacuated and some number of homes lost again. Scary. Pray for our Fire Fighters, evacuees, and for rain!

Defense industry, you know - us guys who build and field all those toys, has been devastated. My company alone has lost hundreds of jobs (including mine). We didn't get furloughed a few days a month - we got cut 100%. Gone. Done. Finished. Our area here has lost several thousand defense jobs. The experienced people to build all those toys, support them, build spare parts, etc - are moving on to other things. We will now depend on the tender mercies of our enemies for our national security.

A lot of homes that had some area cleared around them did survive in the midst of complete devastation. That did work fairly well.

Red Line means nothing without either the means or the will to do anything. Thanks Macelena, but local is as far as I have time to go.

We've got ahead of it now. 2 dead and well over 400 homes lost. The worst in state history in terms of property lost. I reviewed the area today with our fire and police chiefs. A tremendous effort with assistance from across the state. Outstanding cooperation among the agencies. A rough week.

Helping to man the phones tonight in our Joint Information Center for the county. This is certainly a bad fire and has so far burned about 80+ homes in Black Forest. Still out of control and threatening additional subdivisions. Watching the heavy air tankers has been quite impressive. Seeing a big airliner drop from about 50 feet among the ridge lines is quite a sight!!

The Honorable Typhoid, elected to City Council for Colorado Springs, District 6. A very close race but took it in the end. Now I have to clean up my politician jokes....................

They seem to be missing in action so far........ It's not as if the city has boatloads of ca$h lying around. :)

Sworn into office today. Six new council members joining three who were not up for election. http://www.springsgov.com/SectionIndex.aspx?SectionID=49 Staying quite busy these past months and the pace doesn't look like it will slow down at all.

That's quite all right, my friend. Thanks! You may be amused to learn that the liberal media here actually endorsed me. They looked at the other two and........ :)

The NKAF has Mig-29's. It is anyone's guess as to how ready they are and how good their pilots are, but to denigrate them as nothing more than a handful of '70's vintage aircraft is just nonsense.

Precisely!
