Introduction ======== this pack contains pilotmodels for VF-32 . VF-32 operated the F-14 Tomcat untill 2005 before transitioning to the F/A-18F Super Hornet Skinlist ===== VF32_pilot: pilot for VF-32 (with the sword painted on his helmet) VF32___rio: rio for VF-32 (with squadron badge on his helmet) Installation ======= These pilotskins are based on the models designed by AmokFloo. Unzip, if you wish, into a temporary folder. This works best. All the files in the zip are seperate zips. This allows you to select which or how many pilots you wish to add. Place your selections in the /Objects/Aircraft folder --do NOT place the files in specific aircraft folder!! If you haven't extracted the data.ini for the aircraft you wish to modify, do so. If already extracted, open up the **data.ini for your aircraft of choice. In the example below, we are using the F-100D: Find the section marked crew, as below // Crew --------------------------------------------------------- [Pilot] SystemType=PILOT_COCKPIT PilotModelName= <-- (left blank in this example) Position=0.00,4.15,0.88 SeatModelName=seat_f-100 SeatPosition=0.00,3.98,0.45 MinExtentPosition=-0.25,3.52,-0.30 MaxExtentPosition= 0.25,4.83, 1.09 CanopyNodeName=canopy_frame_rear_outer If your data ini does not have the line: PilotModelName= You =MUST= add it. Then, you can add the pilot figure of choice. Remember, it is case sensitive, so if it's "PILOTAF" you must use all capitals. If it's "PilotCH", you must use the upper and lower case lettering. MF F-14A Tomcat Loadout

While working on a new campaign I downloaded the Mirage Factory F-14A Tomcat. While taking the aircraft for a spin, I took this screenshot of the loadout. The loadout consists of 6 Sparrow, 2 Sidewinders and 2 Phoenix missiles. The belly attachments were the ones that caught my attention. A close-up reveals that the sparrow, in between the phoenix missiles, could never be fired (unless the pilot dropped the phoenix first!). Further reading in "Tomcat - Shipborne superfighter", revealed that the correct belly loadout would be 2 phoenix in front and 1 sparrow in the rear. To obtain this loadout possibility, you need to open the F-14A_DATA.ini and replace the SparrowStation4 with this entry. [SparrowStation4] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=4 StationGroupID=6 <----- change this value from 2 to 6 StationType=SEMI_RECESSED AttachmentPosition=0.0,-4.15,-0.525 AttachmentAngles=0.0,1.0,0.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,-2.0,0.0 MissileRollAngle=45.0 LoadLimit=230.00 AllowedWeaponClass=SAHM AttachmentType=NATO,USN MinExtentPosition= MaxExtentPosition= By setting the StationGroupID to 6 instead of 2 you split the front and rear sparrow stations allowing for this more realistic loadout. I haven't checked the other F-14's available in the download section, but chances are that, if they are based on the MF aircraft, the same trick will also work for them. Happy Flying -

Why did you exactly do to solve the problem? I have some troubles myself with adding carriers. I followed all the instructions on the forum and after several trials and errors I still don't manage to get a working carrier. I guess I am missing something small here. -

This is my first campaign that I developped for Wings over Europe. Background Story ############ The campaign is set in an alternative history, where the Berlin Wall did not fall on November 9, 1989. Instead East-Germans trying to pass to the west were gunned down by East-German and Soviet border guards. In the following months the Soviets intervene to suppress a popular uprising in East-Germany. Unfortunately a small skirmish between US marines and Soviet/East-German troops in Berlin provides the spark for the third world war. The Soviets, in their effort to get rid of the pesky capitalist island in their midst, decide to capture West-Berlin. Realizing that this will provoke a retaliation from NATO, the Soviets decide to attack West-Germany straight away. As a NATO pilot, you will fend off the Soviet invasion. The campaign itself only lasts 30 days, since NATO troops should survive for about 3 weeks until the first convoys from the US would arrive. Installation Instructions: ################ You have the choice of following an extended readme (26 pages) or a shortened readme with only the required links. The installation file also contains several modified ini's, hangar and loading screens. The extended readme will show you were you can download the files and how they have to be installed. Since this is my first campaign any feedback is more then welcome. WOE:BC Version 1.0 ############# With this version you get the campaign with all the required aircraft and ground objects. The groundwar uses the default campaign from WOE. It's my intention to customise and extend this campaign with future patches, but with the current file s and downloads you can already take to the skies and fight the Soviets. MOD File compatability

Yes, you should. Same answer as above If an author tells you that his campaign has been tested in one or the other iteration of this sim, you should stick to that version to download the campaign, that's because the author uses that specific terrain or aircraft that are only availalbe in that version. For a comparison of all versions check this link. With WOE you can already fly interesting campaigns (I can recommend NATO Fighters and Operation Tainted Cigar - both are easy to install). If you are interested in Vietnam you will have to buy a copy of WOV, the same counts for Israel related campaigns. However be aware that some authors use third party terrains (ie The Dragon) which in theory should work with each version of the sim. -

Into my final holiday week and now I have some extra time to work on the target and terrain files of WOE. The first step consisted of downloading several groundunit addons from here. After a bit of tweaking, experimenting and flying around I made some initial discoveries, which you can all read at my blog. If you want to read my AAR based on the first tests, check it out at SimHQ. Many thanks to the Mirage Factory for providing their RF-4C, its a rugged beast to recon those SAM batteries. -

Finally, two days before my holiday I reached a major milestone in the campaign building of WOE:BC. All aircraft are added! You can find a detailled list on my blog. I'll be spending time with family and friends next week but I expect to tackle the next milestone in my second holiday week: the terrain and target files. I need you! A couple of days ago, Sony Tuckson posted a comment to my latest update report on WOE:BC. It became clear to me from his comment, that i don't know everything on the period that I want to depict in my campaign, especially concerning weapon loadouts. So I thought I could submit each loadout to the community, watch the feedback and correct the campaign based on that feedback. So here is the first aircraft the F-16C block 30. As promised, I posted on my my blog the second part of USAF aircraft in my campaign. I also tested CA_Stary's Enhanced Explosions 3 Effects pack, but I had to de-install it because it caused a noticable drop in FPS on my computer. In all likelihood, Hollywood will screw up the sequel. When I first watched the original, I was 13 years old. I credit the movie for sparking my interest in aviation. For those of you who think that a sequel without the Tomcat won't be worth a thing: you are getting old! I bet that back then Aircraft buffs where saying: "Hey a movie with that new F-14 fighter must suck, an F-4 Phantom is way much cooler" And for those of you who think no good aircraft movies are being made: check out Les Chevalier du Ciel (Sky Fighters). Sure the storyline was implausible in some occassions but the real life shots of the Mirage 2000 were fantastic.

Taiwan and still crashing

Koushiro, I have not installed this campaign, but from my own experience designing my own campaign, I learned this: each time you install an aircraft, object, terrain etc, fire up the sim and test it out (even if the remaining planes don't show up, weapons are missing etc). As such if you get an error, it will probably be caused by the last item you installed. It seems to me you will have to bite the bullet and reinstall each item at a time. I know it sucks, but trust me we have all been there (install lessons learned ) -

Now that the F-16C passed the scrutiny of the community, its time to submit another aircraft from the WOE:BC campaign for loadout evalutions. PS: if you want to see the F-16C loadouts that made the cut, check the little movie I made on my blog. As usual the selected loadouts are chosen to fit the time period, make the life of the player easier (so that he does not have to manually create loadouts for each mission) and to make sure that the AI can handle them properly. Single Mission Type Aircraft

Something the experienced modders might already have noticed but I'll post it anyway. In the campaign I am developping (link), I am using a number of aircraft that fly only one specific mission type (ie. F-4G flies only SEAD missions). While testing the campaign I discovered that my F-4G wing always got reconnaissance missions. Yet I had not set recon as a possible mission type either in the campaign files or in the aircraft data file. Initially I thought I made a screw up in one of the files, since another wing of F-111 with only strike missions worked smoothly. After flying several reconnaissance missions in my F-4G, I finally got a SEAD mission and my penny dropped. If you have a squadron, flying only on specific missiontype, and the campaign engine is not able to generate such a mission (for whathever reason - that's still a mystery to me), you will automatically get a reconnaissance mission. Although this is unavoidable I suggest following actions when building a campaign: 1/ make sure each aircraft has a recon-loadout 2/ look where the briefing text is stored and try to edit it for reconnaissance missions If somebody found another solution, I'd be happy to hear about it. happy flying KA -

Thx Team Vark for this wonderfull aircraft! I don't want to offend you guys, I appreciate your work very much, but when looking at the F-111F I noticed some "bugs" in the F-111F_DATA file: Electro-Optically Guided Bombs: the F-111F can carry the GBU-15, yet you use the code EOGR. This should be EOGB PaveTack AllowedWeaponClass: you used EP (code for ecm pod), it should be LP ( for laser designator) PaveTack LoadLimit: is set to 0, which prevents the pavetack pod from being loaded (I set it to 1000, a bit much but it works) I haven't checked the other F-111's in the package, since I will only use the F-111F and E in my campaign. regards KA -

It seemed that I screwed up the racktypes: I hade also Mavericks hanging on TER. I already changed that back to the LAU-88 weaponrack and changed the CAS loadout to 6 cub-59 hanging on a TER.
