  1. Korea, 1968. The Navy has decided to do some COIN Training in a real-world environment, without the pesky AAA & SAMS of Vietnam. Where better than the "Land Of The Morning Calm"?

"What could possibly go wrong? It'll be a milk-run, and you'll be in and out before the NK's get wise." (The guy in back has that look that says, "I am so screwed.")img00006.thumb.JPG.813c220571a2c42998bca7d61b653e27.JPGimg00007.thumb.JPG.09f078f3fef79ea16f1147746ce10d23.JPG

Intel was correct; there's the target, and so far, NO bad guys!!!! Emptied the pods and dropped the empties.

(Remember the back seater's look?) The bad guys showed up to spoil the day but couldn't get a good run in because we were so low. They got chased off by a 4-ship of F-8's that came to our rescue.

one: how the hell do ya have a Phantom parked on the runway? i mean i see its Uncle Sams favorite ASVAB waivers but still.....

No idea. One minute I'm rolling down the runway at about 150 knots, considering alternatives for running into trouble along the way, and there's the Phantom on the centerline. At 1st, I thought it was moving; said something ungentlemanly, and pulled the stick back in a hurry.
