Some of the aircrew guys at the 34th here have bumper stickers that say "We're the real Thunderbirds. We don't do loops to music, we kill people and break their sh*t" Also, I know a guy who's got a patch from the ALE-50 Towed Decoy program that says "Blow It Out Your Aft." I dig it.

Oh man, that's awful. I just watched Restrepo over the weekend, and it was one of the most powerful pieces of film I have ever seen

Indeed, we use to have them come through Ellsworth as transients about once every two or three months or so. Although they seem pretty quiet comparatively to the B-1's here.

Hey all, After a few days worth of gag orders and watching threads from the sidelines, I'm (read: our whole wing) finally authorized via the 28th BW Public Affairs Office to be able talk, to an extent, about my involvment in the UN/NATO operations in Lybia. And let me tell you, the B-1 is definitely in the fight, though of course I can't give out payload numbers or target info, let me say this... we kicked some serious butt! It was pretty cool to green up my first combat sorties and watch our jets head off to join the fight. If anyone has any questions about my squadron's and my involvment, I'd be happy to answer them, within the confines of OPSEC and INFOSEC of course. Whether it's greening up jets on short notice to go bomb Lybia, or putting on our bombers on aircraft carriers to hit Tokyo, no one does it like the 34th BS Thunderbirds! UPDATE: Just hopped on Ellsworth's public homepage and found some pictures. The guy in the driver's seat of that de-icer truck is none other than your's truly. Whoohoo, I'm a celebrity!

Calling all Ace Combat pilots, 2011... We're Back!
CowboyTodd41 replied to ShinKazama88's topic in The Pub
OH WOW! The "108th TF" was really cool! I just gotta say, I love hardcore flight sims, but I also love Ace Combat games. I've felt that they're kind of like the Final Fantasy of flying games, and that's not always a bad thing. Sometimes I like a bit of epic storyline to go with shooting down hundreds of Su-35's. The 1 v 100 dogfight near the end of AC6 was pretty great. -
@Jedi - No they aren't making full round trips, they stopped off at a Foward Operating Location and then flew home, also hitting targets on the way back. @FC - Yep, all the aircrews made it home safe sound and @DWCAce - We use Glycol, though in that picture my bucket operator was shooting hot air since we can't use the fluid on the canards

Am I the only one who sees a strong resemblance to the saxophone scene from The Lost Boys here?

The only time I've ever had a problem with was when it was in beta and used to so people could try it out and download the pre-release of Counter-Strike 1.6. I had never seen a download say it would take five years until that day lol.

Up loading/downloading those things is a pain... but it sure is fun to play with during ops checks!

18 F-2s were damaged by tsunami.
CowboyTodd41 replied to matsu0042's topic in Military and General Aviation
This would be exactly the case. Up here at Ellsworth during the summer time we have to call in people to tow jets to keep them out of hail storms and such, and it's a huge deal. And that's with hours of storm watches and warnings before hand. Also, the unit commanders will have to keep in mind the safety of their airmen and their need to take care of their families. Jets are replaceable, someone's wife, son, or daughter is not. -
That's really radical. I think my first flight was a computer sim, "Hellcats Over the Pacific" for my parents Mac. Although, I actually flew more in real aircraft before that, lol.

Mig-29's are such gorgeous jets. Thanks for the pics :)

Yech... holy crap! That's a helluva of a way to loose to your GV. "Worried about all this nasty weather Steve?" "Nah it's cool, I hangered her."

Took me a sec to realize what I was looking at, but once I did...

B-1B Status
CowboyTodd41 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
You guys aren't going to make me do maintenance on this mod are you? Because I work on B-1's enough as it is, and I really don't want to do it virtually. Just make sure it always comes down Code-1 and we're golden! -
I wonder if they'll need someone work on chaff/flare, EWS, ECM, Radar, VHF, UHF....oh screw it. DO YOU GUYS NEED ELECTRONICS GEEKS I LOVE FLANKERS SO MUCH! :phew: Glad I got that out of my system.

Thank you FC, thank you so much for this post. I certainly would never consider myself a "Hero" for what I do. It's simply a job I got to everyday to fix jets. That's it.

Well...30 mike-mike might be a little hard to come by, but as far everything else goes. I agree wholeheartedly.

OH MAN, "Threshold"! I had this movie on VHS when I kid and watched it all the time. Man, this movie is great!

I got a break from working jets because I got my wisdom pulled so I got a few days of quarters. Only at (H)Ellsworth do we look forward to dental surgery just so we can get some time off, lol
