  1. I'm working on updating the AIM-9 (and other types) in the game. Started already back in 2018. First release will be using stock 3d, a 2nd release with (hopefully) as many accurate 3d as possible later on. This update/mod will change the way the player has to employ the missile. Accurate aiming (pulling the sight/aiming mark/reticle directly on the target) is required to get a seeker lock-on. Until now, it is easy to get a lock-on because the missile seekers are set up by default to act as a "super-seeker", covering the full seeker gimbal angles. With that removed, its more fun/challenging to fight with IR missiles and it also makes more sense to actually use the radar for targeting. That works (seeker slaved to radar) only with few AIM-9 types, the 9L, 9M, 9P-5, 9JULI and the 9X. The AIM-4D also has this function and the French Magic 2. To be continued..
  2. AIM-9L series AIM-9L, 1978+ USAF and export, all-aspect seeker, still poor vs IR flares, SEAM-capable AIM-9L-1, 1978+ USN variant of 9L AIM-9L(EUR), ~1981+ Euro-Consortium produced 9L, wide NATO service AIM-9L/I, ~1988 (perhaps a bit earlier) EUR Improved IRCCM, several NATO users, final version for Lw AIM-9L/I-1, ~1993 (guessed, possibly later) EUR Improved again IRCCM, said to be the equivalent of US 9M-8/9 (1995), some NATO users (Italy) AIM-9JULI, ~1993 upgrade for SR116 motor 9J/N/P missiles which replaces the old GCU with the 9L/I GCU (JULI = Juliet(series) Upgrade to Lima Improved) Known users: Spain... AIM-9L Genetic, ~1984-86 (guessed) possibly UK IRCCM mod, similar to what they've done to their 9G SWIFT To be continued...
  3. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt !!! With radar, range 2000 ft / 600 m
  4. Sparrow F / F / P, intentions... AIM-7F, 1976+ improved with new 2-stage motor and seeker. 7. Yep, they used K-14 (UK GGS) type reticle. The closed (also broken) circle can be blanked out leaving only the + mark. The circle is used for aim-off in the bombing mode (and in the caged sight mode), the diamonds reticle for rocket mode. I have made a improved Hunter sight of that type some time ago, based on some UK manual or doc. The A-4 sight in the F-100 has a 10-diamonds reticle, have made one as well , update for the F-86's and the F-100 too. Already in Dec. 2012 F-100D.7z F-100D_64.7z F-100D_68.7z

F-4E_75_AHUD (Austere HUD) mod The real Austere HUD modification has been tested on F-4E 68-0304 during 1974-76. The goal was to have a better sight display, primarily for air to air combat. Further modifications were made to the radar for a quicker boresight lock-on and new dogfight scan modes. The Austere HUD modification remained a F-4E test and didnt went into production aircraft or upgrades. Ive re-created the Austere HUD, using the TW F-4E_75 (required for the mod to work). Ive used the Wraparound desert skin for stock F-4E by amariani http://combatace.com/files/file/12057-wraparound-desert-skin-for-stock-f-4e/ for a quick "make it fly" setup (we dont have a proper Edwards Test Unit white with red trimmings skin) The real Austere HUD was a test setup, so its no problem to add/remove readouts to the HUD modes to ones personal liking.
  10. No fear...CA is going to open a special virtual ward some day for affected players...
  11. To let everyone know: The remaining TMF core members have made the decision to not allow any further use/export of Olivier's 10+ years old models to other games/platforms. Its time to let the old models "rest in peace", it was Oli's work for SFP1/WOx/SF2, and we have the opinion that its simply not right that his work is used on and on after so many years have passed. Please respect our decision. Thank you. Crusader, for The Mirage Factory
