i don't see how an aircraft with variable geometry wing design can ever be cheaper to produce or easier to maintain. and with the big over-budget spenders like raptor and the jsf i don't think there's even the will to produce another new fighter jet, let alone the one only navy would use.

Super Hornet F and It's Ava
kesegy replied to Erwin_Hans's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
congrats, erwin. the bird is beautiful. i've been flying it the whole afternoon. what i also like is the fact that it's "balanced"; i mean, all aspects of the aircraft (modeling, cockpit, avionics, textures) are on the same level of quality - and that level: great. it's a top notch addition to the CA stables. -
i was also very disappointed in st:legacy (i hate that pizza-box representation of space combat) so i gave up altogether on star trek sims, and i'm playing again, after many years, st: birth of the federation with a big smile on my face.

full story ---> here Former Bosnian Serb president Radovan Karadzic, accused of masterminding "ethnic cleansing" deportations and killings of Bosnian Muslims and Croats, has been arrested after more than a decade in hiding, a U.N. war crimes tribunal said Monday. Karadzic, 63, is charged with genocide, crimes against humanity and violations of the law of war. Last seen in public in 1996, Karadzic was the Bosnian Serb political leader during the 1992-1995 war that followed Bosnia-Herzegovina's secession from Yugoslavia.

Update: It has been revealed that during these 13 years Mr. Karadzic was living in Belgrade. Neither his work superiors nor his landlords knew his real identity. Indeed, he was so comfortable in his diguise that he moved in public places freely in Belgrade. He even had a job in a clinic where he practiced alternative medicine. Also, he frequently attended conventions regarding alternative medicine giving speeches about being one with the universe etc, giving couple's therapy, writing articles on psychology, meditation and bioenergy for the "Healthy Living" magazine and so on. His alias was Dragan Dabic. Here are some pics:

there were rumors that some of that time he spent in moscow, courtesy of the russian government, which has a good record for helping serbian criminals (milosevic's familiy still resides there, i believe). it is not that hard to believe he could stay so long in hiding. he has a lot of supporters even today, especially in the rural parts of serbia and bosnia (where there is serbian majority). it should be interesting to see now whether the russians did really harbor a genocide suspect, and if it comes out, which foreign country's tip led to the arrest.

i too am extremly eclectic. i can get into anything, so, other than flight sims, I've played and loved CM Shock Force too (i even preordered it and stuck with it despite all the bugs), all kinds of rpg-s (the older kind like Fallout 1 and 2, Planescape or Morrowind), huge fan of the Civilization and Total War series (ever since Shogun, with my favorite being Rome TW), space sims (Starlancer, Freelancer) and an occasional first person shooter (Serious Sam 1 and 2, Quake series, and the best shooters ever Call of Duty 2 and 4).

it seems 2 have been recovered, not stating their condition. they're searching the other 4. may god help them through this.

Flight model difficulty gameplay option
kesegy replied to Miracles's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I set Blackout, Fuel and Hud to Normal. Everything else, including FM to Hard. I can hold my own against all enemies when their AI is set on hard, except when flying patched-up WOI Mirage III against MiG-17s. In my book, it's the most challenging stock FM in any TW game when set to hard. -
Terrorism Funds May Let Brass Fly in Style Luxury Pods for Air Force Debated The Air Force's top leadership sought for three years to spend counterterrorism funds on "comfort capsules" to be installed on military planes that ferry senior officers and civilian leaders around the world, with at least four top generals involved in design details such as the color of the capsules' carpet and leather chairs, according to internal e-mails and budget documents. Production of the first capsule -- consisting of two sealed rooms that can fit into the fuselage of a large military aircraft -- has already begun. Air Force officials say the government needs the new capsules to ensure that leaders can talk, work and rest comfortably in the air. But the top brass's preoccupation with creating new luxury in wartime has alienated lower-ranking Air Force officers familiar with the effort, as well as congressional staff members and a nonprofit group that calls the program a waste of money. Air Force documents spell out how each of the capsules is to be "aesthetically pleasing and furnished to reflect the rank of the senior leaders using the capsule," with beds, a couch, a table, a 37-inch flat-screen monitor with stereo speakers, and a full-length mirror. The effort has been slowed, however, by congressional resistance to using counterterrorism funds for the project and by lengthy internal deliberations about a series of demands for modifications by Air Force generals. One request was that the color of the leather for the seats and seat belts in the mobile pallets be changed from brown to Air Force blue and that seat pockets be added; another was that the color of the table's wood be darkened. Changing the seat color and pockets alone was estimated in a March 12 internal document to cost at least $68,240. full text ---> here

I want to edit Whirlwind of Vietnam scripts but idont know the script languaje
kesegy replied to Hugoqm's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
judging by the quality of that "sim", I'm not sure even the developers knew how to edit and modify their own game. why bother with that half-product?? -
yeah, but why aren't they answering?? i've been crunching numbers like crazy in SETI@home but that wow signal is nowhere to be heard again. and with arecibo scheduled to shut down for seti in 2011, time is not on our side.

i have been playing it for a while a year ago. amazing what the shockwave people did with that old rowan bob engine. it's not too taxing on the hardware, any new pc in the last 2 years should probably run it with graphics maxed out. the one thing i didn't like is that the game forces the strategy part on you. i would prefer that as an option and only fly. water shader is very nice too.
