  1. About Damn Time...

did you guys watch the movie? given the overall direction the movie was taking right from the start, the thing i found surprising, was that several real marines who served in iraq played in it.
  2. D-Day June 6th, 1944

may the souls of the fallen rest in eternal peace and may we never forget the sacrifice.
  3. damn. from a visual standpoint, to me that is the single most annoying characteristic of the bird. it looks so ridiculous when the aircraft is viewed from below. i wonder if the benefits of those pylons being outward really outstrength the eyestrain from looking at the thing.
  4. F-22 for Israel.

if they lift the ban for israel, then they have to do the same for the brits, who are growing very impatient with the whole f-35 issue. and we all know how good the brit government is at keeping classified information classified
  5. MiG-29 Downed in Sudan

sorry, no actual combat experience, 'cause i was a kid at the time. but living for 3 years 2 miles from the frontline under constant shelling, air raids and sniper attacks leaves a mark on an eightyearold. p.s. sorry for the OT.
  6. MiG-29 Downed in Sudan

i agree completely. but trust me, as i was on the receiving end of the serbian war machine, i know you cannot call them just militia.
  7. MiG-29 Downed in Sudan

i would hardly call serbian forces a militia. serbian PVO (aa defence network) were actually quite good, considering the conditions. same could be said for the pilots who went up in malfunctioning birds highly outnumbered and outgunned, but still they went.
  8. --> Air Force pilot breaks own world aviation record sweet. this fella has more hours logged in the real machine than I have in all my flight sims so far. Salute.
  9. i'd say two years tops. anyway, here's what the man himself said about it: "Thanks everyone for the input. However, I think I already told everyone that there are three things we won't do - 1) WWII game, 2) modern jet game, and 3) helo game. Again, don't take it personally if you wanted one of those, its not that we don't want to do those, its just that we can't afford to do those in any competitive manner (since there are so much competition on those three areas). If we were to win lottery tomorrow and have $10 mil we have to lose, then sure, we'll jump at the opportunity to do one , but otherwise, we believe there are still plenty of grounds to cover in 60-80 era (and neighboring 50s and 90s) we're covering And we're not doing strategic-level Cold War game anytime soon either, the focus of the series will remain tactical. As for "expand his workforce so he can crank out more games/expansions in less time", er, we've done what, 8 titles the past 6 years? Thats more than 1 per year. Our current schedule is about 10 months per each release, and I think thats already very short as is... considering that back in last days of microprose (ie, 90s), they were spending 7+ years on a single game The only way we can cut time futher and release more often is if we elimiated beta testing (we schedule about 1 month) and post-release patch support (about 3 months, including time to do patches to all previous titles) - cutting those could possibly bring it down to 6 months cycle, but thats not what we want to do... and besides, I don't know how many people would actually spend $60 on our games per year, its difficult enough getting just $30 per year."
  10. just a quick question. what was the first u.s. twin-engined jet fighter to saw combat?
  11. man, is this something or is it something! two thumbs up.
  12. dude, that process is called uv unwraping and texturing. it really looks you need to go through the basics first. i suggest you skim over a couple of tutorials that came with max (check out max help), or dip into the abundant sea of knowledge on the web. i believe max has the widest community out there of all the 3d apps. good luck
  13. that's correct. you cannot view LOD files in max.
  14. craig, i know i'm not the first to say it, but W O W ! truly, this is a work of art. beautiful model, amazing cockpit, subtle texturing. this is a hall-of-famer
  15. where does one go after nukes?? hmm... maybe back to sticks and stones
  16. twin-engined jet question

    thanks for help, muesli. appreciated
  17. please read what people have posted on the issue of "real" speed in that link you wrote. the game doesn't need to be patched in that regard.
  18. you really can find nearly everything on uTube

lol although sometimes you can find a gem or two. i was watching this video a guy made of himself playin cfs3 and one of the comments was: "such beatiful flying :O. as gracful and ellagant as a 3 legged ballet dancer with a tax return problem that she expresses with the power of DANCE!!" had me laughing for 15 minutes, thought i was gonna choke to death
  19. you really can find nearly everything on uTube

it's a good rule in life never to read youtube comments.
  20. you mean this one here?
  21. never knew that... i just love this kind of little details and quirks in different aircraft. here's a short interesting discussion on that topic
  22. damn, i clicked on title of this topic of yours so fast i think i hurt my mouse. good one p.s. f u dude
  23. yep, that's true. you finish the mission, bomb the hell out of hanoi, pop the beer can in your cockpit, hit Alt+N, and the next thing you see is your crusader going into a mountain like a freakin dart. life just ain't fair sometimes.
