  1. i think i can see my house down there
  2. this is too cool. another great release from the mirage factory. do you folks over there ever stop? 'cause if you're thinking about it, DON'T! thank you. p.s. column, could you plz go over access requests to the forum on your site if you have time to spare. thanks
  3. great job on the bis pozdrav iz kroejshe
  4. i agree with previous posters in thinking the main issue here concers using higher brain functions. simming equates learning, and as soon as they even hint they should learn something new, kids get discouraged blitz fast. adults are no better too, 3 hard yanks on the joystick, they crash and the fun is over. they just look at the myriad of instruments in the cockpit and shut down instantly. reading 200-300 page manuals doesn't help to draw crowds in either. kinda reminds me of that simpsons episode, when bart was playing some game on playstation 1, and the second he realised he was learning state capitals while playing the game, he kicked the tv saying something like: hey, don't try to teach me stuff you just have to love that feeling of flight, the airplanes or the associated history to have any enjoyment out of flight sims. otherwise, it's just moving through the air from point a to point b, ocassionaly blowing something up, all that while looking at mediocre graphics (by current standards at least) and hearing repetitive engine sounds. you either love it or you don't. and no gaming mag review is gonna change how you feel.
  5. Happy Birthday to USAFMTL

A very happy birthday to you, and thanks for all the work you've put into this forum and thirdwire games. congrats
  6. A upcoming South America War?

IIRC FARC controls 1/3 of colombian territory, or even more, and suddenly they want to get rid of a high ranking farc leader by invading a foreign sovereign nation. why don't they clean up their own back yard first? this sounds like a pretext for war, yes, but coming from colombian side.. yeah, i know ecuador may be refuge for farc but nevertheless colombia should deal with the situation in their own country first, and then, only with permission, conduct operations abroad just my 2 cents
  7. Kosovo

Kosovo - declared its independence a couple of hours ago a european, predominantely islamic country with a strong affection towards USA -- what is the world coming to?
  8. Kosovo

KFOR is deployed to Kosovo, not Serbia - these protests are taking place in Belgrade i was just watching cnn -- first they said no one was in the u.s. embassy, but then later they added that a small group of marines is still inside. you would think that the marines would do somethin when the protesters started to take down the us flag, but nothin - guess samuel l. jackson wasn't in belgrade tonight
  9. Kosovo

croatian embassy was attacked as well. and we haven't even recognized Kosovo yet we're always to blame let's hope things don't escalate further tonight
  10. Kosovo

they'll never side with putin, rest assured. russia is a strong ally to serbia, the country they just separated from. i don't think that there is a single place in europe where you can find more US flags then in Kosovo, including the US bases in europe.
  11. as i guess there is no sense in pitching F-4 vs. F-14. then it's MiG-21 vs. ?
  12. no dude, it's not ones and zeroes, but you still need some programming language knowledge to understand it. sure, there are areas anybody can modifiy and understand but when you're dealing with underlying mathematics, especially in a flight sim, a whole lotta sh*t can hit the fan and mess up everything. you (we) really need a programmer to do this. question is - where to find freeware flight sim source code that is even remotely suited to our needs?
  13. so that's it huh? if we are to stick with TW base, max we can achieve is a community addon. no fundamental changes... building something from the ground up is financially and technically unfeasible so what's left? other engines? or in depth modding?
  14. how about licensing your engine, TK?
  15. funny, can't see any stars here.... there was this old flight sim, sometime in the late nineties, when you reached a certain altitude above the cloud layer, you could see this beautiful starry sky above the last remnants of the atmosphere. you really felt you were leaving our old planet and heading for the stars. can't remember what it was. darn
  16. Valentines Day

does she have any sisters? or was she a mail-order bride from ukraine? just kidding, cause you don't get a lot of her kind these days you're a lucky man she's a keeper
  17. you're right about that - our chances are pretty slim. but picture that for a second: a sim -- by the people, for the people (that's my ex-yugoslav mindset kicking in.... keep quiet in there, Tito). no, really, it would be a great feat to pull off something of this magnitude. a precedent in the sim world if i'm not mistaken. i'd support it 4 sure (heck, i preordered Battlefront's Shock Force - look how that turned out hehe) btw, i'm proficient in LightWave and 3DsMax so I'd gladly take some workload for free just to see this dream come true best of luck
  18. Advanced is definetly the minimum IMO - at least, such as it is presented here. i think coop play is a must. in essence, to have the ability to do anything you are able to do on a single player mission, so custom loadouts have to be there, mission planning, etc. Some sort of ranking system with tangible effects would be nice (i.e. rudimentary chain of command). well, that's my .02s
  19. 1. Dynamic campaign (less story-driven) 2. Detailed carrier ops 3. Detailed cockpit procedures (switchology) 4. Good performance on older systems 5. Detailed comms and ATC 6. High moddability (like SF series) 7. High resolution graphics, terrain and effects 8. Seat-switching in multi-seat aircraft 9. Story-driven campaign (less dynamic) **keeping my fingers crossed for this project to work
  20. You guys have it soooo easy.

only women can get into this kinda discussion so early in the morning. that time of the month must be fast approaching (sorry, couldn't resist) on the bright side, we let you fly planes. isn't that a big leap of faith on our part??
  21. has the work already started? maverickhr ain't the only one eagerly waiting for kockica. hehe kako to glupo zvuci na engleskom pozdrav iz vinkovaca
  22. would you care to elaborate on that, comrade? this is news to me
  23. WWII: MiG-3 (it didn't have much of a combat record, but there's just something about it) Cold War: MirageIII (cold blooded executioner with a french sense of style) Modern: MiG-29 and F-15 (hands down, the greatest combat aircraft ever made) p.s. I'm genuinely surprised I don't see that many hornets mentioned here
  24. On hard settings, in combat I usually get 1 hit out of 4, sometimes 2 on a good day. so lately i tend to save my AIM-9Bs for the trip back home when I often cross paths with those dumb straight-flying-see-nothing-hear-nothing enemy sorties, when i just move to their six and pick them off one by one. sure, scoring such easy kills leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but hey, it makes for a nice explosion and it helps to raise aim-9b's pk and thats always a good thing for those starving defense contractors :-) one other thing I was interested in: during campaign in WOV and WOE, the are some sidewinder variants that always come in really small quantities. I'm not home right now, but I think I always have much more AIM-9P's than L's. Is this historically accurate, links to web reference appreciated.
  25. did you notice that in the first video the main landing gear lowered after the plane broke apart? I wonder why that happended.
