What's your fav method of air-to-air combat?
Miracles replied to jet_spud's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I fly MiGs too in WoI and prior the 1982 Lebanon war the Russian made IR missiles are largely unreliable. But somehow I prefer missile kill than gun kill. however I do note that bombers formation tends to ignore attack on them this is probably my biggest gripe with the game -
Playable MiG-23 for WoI?
Miracles posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I looked at Orday's fabulous MiG-23's cockpits and wodnering can they be used for WoI's MiG-23? I remember downloading one and somehow I couldn't get it to work in WoI. The Mirage Factory Flogger pack contains trojans too. So it is our of the picture. -
Playable MiG-23 for WoI?
Miracles replied to Miracles's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
No that's not true I only downloaded then extracted the pack for Gen1 Thirdwire game -
Hi Ordway I can't get this cockpit to work in WoI using the stock AI plane as the model. The Mirage factory Flogger pack is reported by both of my installed AV as having trojans. Maybe it's the heuristic being too sensitive(false positive) but I just think it's best not to take chances. Anyway When I tried to install this MiF-23MF and MiG-23MS which both exist as AI plane only in WOI I could see the cockpit but they are misaligned with regard to the runway and I can't see the 3D model of the plane itself. Any help from you is really aprreciated wouldn't want to miss your fabulous MiG-23s cockpits

Okay then it must be the heuristic scanning being too sensitive. And I thought I would ask here instead. -

yea I looked but the other models can't be used with the Ordway's MiG-23 cockpits. I have 2 AV installed and both reported trojan in that MF Flogger pack. Sorry to hear about the late Mirage Factory though. So young so soon. -
What's the difference between X52 and X52 Pro? How durable are they?
Miracles posted a topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
I'm thinking to buy Saitek X52 stick but the vendor only got X52 Pro stick. What's the difference between the X52 and X52 Pro stick? Are they durable since for their worth I expect them to work for more than 5 years in regular use. Someone also asked for 270 bucks for used X52 Pro and pedals. Should I go for the used stick and pedals for 270 bucks or a brand new X52 Pro stick for 245 bucks? The owner of the used stick and pedals claimed that he rarely used the stick(less than 10 hours of usage) while the pedals is brand new. -

Thank you Sir! Can it be used with WoI too? I put the mod in the MiG-23M WoE folder but still couldn't pick the AC in Mission. -

The used Pro stick and pedals have no guarantee unfortunately. -

You must be very disciplined not to allow your alter ego pilot a cut all these times Try Free Falcon 5 and Open Falcon Enough said -

I know the post is more than half a year old but Typhoon and Rafale stand more chance beating other planes than F-15. Well to me F-15 is nothing special today. F-22 and F-35 are! -
I have a heavily modified install of woI and would like to play online with a friend. Do we have to have the same mods installed?

Flight stick or Keyboard?
Miracles replied to i fight by 1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm playing with the keyboard as well. Since my Logitech 3D extreme Pro died within 4 months I paid about 50 bucks for that thrash.. I'll buy a good saitek X52 joystick when I found one at a good price. There was Cyborg evo which was good but I passed on it because my front usb port wasn't working then and it was a wireless stick which needed the front usb port. There is Saitek Aviator but at a jacked up price of US$130 which they told me because it was bundled with HAWX. You do the math. My preferred joystick is Saitek X52 at about 100 bucks but I haven't found this stick anywhere here. The only stick sold are Logitech which I swore never to buy. -
I have a question too
Miracles replied to JRA's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You know by early 80s every time I fly in MiG be it MiG-21 or even MiG-23 I always got shot down by the western planes thanks to their powerful radar and medium range missile. The MiG can give you a fair chance to win until F-16A and F-15A came to operation. After that it ceases being a fair fight if you fly MiGs against western radar equipped modern planes. Unless I suppose you fly MiG-29 but I believe MiG-29 was not available in the early 80s to Soviet client states. I read that MiG-29 only entered Soviet service in mid 1980s -
Worst Mission that you managed to survive
Miracles replied to JonathanRL's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Was playing the Aces of North Vietnam campaign flying the MiG-17F My survivability is around 1.5 missions on average. Anyway I was tasked with intercepting enemy flight toward an airbase I believe. There were so many RED planes that I saw on my map view. This time I flew low skimming the surface actually at high speed to avoid being tracked and engaged by the F-4 Phantoms radar and their deadly AIM-7. The enemy flight came in phases. The first phase was the escorting flight which I avoided by continuing to fly in opposite direction parallel to them about 10 to 15 miles. The second phase was the enemy strike package consisting of 8 A4s. I turned only after the last trailing enemy flight had past me so to avoid being sighted too early. So finally I turned to their direction positioning my MiG-17F behind the enemy A4s flight which by now had been scattered. There were 8 of them flying in formation and a few were trailing behind. They were just about a minute or two from their target. So sneaking from their six in the end I managed to down 4 of them while another mate leader downed 3. I even chased the last few planes when they were egressing out of target area. Anyway some Phantoms shot a couple AIM 7 at me and a couple of sidewinder which I dodged by always flying very low from the ground. I thought skimming the earth would give their radar minimum capability to lock on me while the earth heat signature would help me spoof the sidewinders. IT WORKED. I bailed out in the next mission after downing another A4 and was killed in the after next mission lol. It's hard to be a Charlie pilot. -
WoI: AI Conversion
Miracles replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Get this for a start, it will allows you to fly the Mig-21 of all types. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=7596 And this to fly them in campaign http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6144 Use JSGME(Just google it to download it, it replaces the original files with the one you install and make a backup for them, be mindful that you need to specify which folders they go into) First use the JSGME to install the campaign, then use the JSGME to install the MiG-21s. Overwriting some files from the campaign installation.
