The numbers you're after at the tailbase are the same as the numbers on the nose I'll look further into it at home tonight. The Neptunes where stationed at Valkenburg NAS j(closed) just a few miles down the road. A former chief technical officer of the base lives nearby, and I've got some nice books, an 1:72 model, and even a set of pilots safety belts of the good old Neptune... So if you need details.... (if necessary, a trip to the Airforce Museum where they have a neptune takes just 45 minutes....) Skin looks very nice !:good:but for the first few small things: the white parts of the fuselage were normally painted very regularly and did not look so wheathered. Further: the grey walkway like things on top of the front part of the fuselage don't look familiar, the white paint extends a bit in front of the propdisc warning circle, and no red propspinners, but as I said I'll look it up tonight Houdoe Derk Edit: the Neptune at MLM Soesterberg has been moved to Lelystad Airport for maintanance a month ago..... (no use visiting it now...) -

Baltika's Full-Scale New Zealand Terrain for SF2
Derk replied to Baltika's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Can't wait to try it out tonight at home !!. My daughter is in Wellington at the moment, will buzz her and she can spot me and tell me how it looks by telephone (ha, ha). Houdoe, Derk -
Sure, so can I, but I wouldn't be able to do anything with an arm/ hand without fingers...... Right in front of my office is a little atelier where a lady runs a jeweller shop. She is handicapped because some 60 years ago of her mother used Softenon sleeping pills during her pregnancy ( It caused a huge scandal in those days). She's got one normal arm + hand and the other arm is just a sort of stump, even rather shorter than the arm of the piano girl. You won't believe the jewelry and silver stuff this women makes, handicapped as she is. It's absolutely amazing to see her work on very complex things and the way she handles it...... Respect !!!! WOE Advice...
Derk replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hey Lt, Thanks, sound advise for indeed the earlier campaigns with less worries about the missiles. I am mostly flying missions in F 16's and that sort of stuff i.e. rather later than what you are doing. Low flying was very much the thing in Europe, reason for semi permanent deployments to (for instance) Goose Bay. In Bosnia, Kosovo and Iraq things were more at medium altitude but under full and maximum electronic escort and protection, which afaik is not available in that form in the game. For earlier missions in F 104's or Hunters I guess you're dead right !! Houdoe, Derk -

WOE Advice...
Derk replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
About 7) , 8) and 14) : I very much prefer to stay low down in the weeds, shoot missiles into a clear sky and get out, because 1): let the missile do the cimbing and 2) get out of the way of SAM's and AAM's , which have one dimension less to manoeuvre and with terrain masking trouble to keep locked on. But it's a great guide on how to fly and fight !!! :good: Houdoe, Derk -
Well, seems like (what we call) "the bullet is through the church" , i.e. the axe has fallen: 12000 jobs will disappear (meaning 6000 forced redundancies), another 19 F16 MLU's wille be sold (leaving us with just 68 of them), same for 17 Cougars and a DC10, all 68 Leopard2A6's of the Army (leaving us without tanks, we had about 900 at the end of the Cold War....), some frigates and minehunters and a supplyship of the Navy............. But (to my astonishment) Leeuwarden Airbase will be kept open, all Apaches will remain in service, all CH 47F Chinooks (new and refurbished CH 47 D's) will be delivered, 2nd test F35 will be bought, all NH 90's will be deliverd, all 4 submarines will remain in service (!)... These are the cabinet's plans, let's wait and see what is going to happen, lots of details still have to be filled in.... (remember, they are politicians......) A devastating blow at any rate...... Hey, thanks Baffmeister, never downloaded it in the first place, nice stuff !! Houdoe, Derk -
Nope, they say the Apaches could do the job (!)............. Saves E 90 million per year. Andt hey are withdrawing 12 PzH 2000 armoured howitzers as well as a battery of Patriots too. De Kooy naval air station near Den Helder on the list as well, decreasing activities on Eindhoven AB (main transport bas), but these two have civilian users too, so will be open for use if necessary. Don't think the withdrawal of 4 out of 10 minehunters is a very good idea either.. It is not clear at all yet which installations / complexes will be closed. Very tricky item because of local employment.... Result is that the personnel will be unsure about their jobs for a very long time (including generals this time....) Houdoe, Derk
