Russian companies (with government backing) are notorious for changing the terms of deals, after the deals have been made. During the 1990s, when Russia was trying to adopt Western style capitalism, a lot of the Western firms that went into Russia left as quickly as they came in. They found the Russia take capitalism to be completely different from standards they practiced. Well if the Indians get upset, they can always take it to a Russian court...

Good to hear the drivers have been rescued and I hope they are ok. Goes to show, aviation is a dangerous business and requires ballz, skills, and a lot of wisdom (to work, fly, and maintain.) Regardless, I still love the eagle, and I hope the men and women who trouble shoot'em can get all of the kinks out.

Well I think what sells is a combination of "fiction" within a historical time frame and or era. I.e. you have a Vietnam Era sim with all of the planes, weapons, etc., but you fly and fight to your liking. Hetch as many clips and pics I have seen of SF Navy F-4Js carring Suu-23s....but I digress. Just look at this community some of the most popular projects have been DBS and 1962 Cuba IMHO if you put in the right planes, give them decent flight models, right weapons, a full mission editor, and decent effects (be it gfx, audio, or animations) for immersion, it will sell.

I do have a serious question though... If the missiles were to miss, could the fall of the sat and or debris be predicted? how much advanced warning would people in populated areas have? And finally, what type of precautions would people have to take...i.e. if water tables are contaminated or hydrazine/fuel is within their immediate vicinity?

The data is nice, but maybe everyone is not looking for another Wings over Vietnam (but I can't lie being able to Fly from Yankee or Dixie Station and fly during Pierce Arrow, Flaming Dart, Rolling Thunder, Niagara, Tet, Freedom Train, or the Line Backers would rock.) I think the data can also be translated to, a lot of simmers want to step out of the realm of WW II and Europe and into the Cold War (which most of us grew up in be it the 50s or the 80s.) I think people may want to do carrier ops in the Gulf of Sydra or Med, during the various Libyan, Lebanese, or even Israeli conflicts. Could possibly want to play a scenario where we attacked Iran instead of sending in a failed helo rescue. Maybe people want an armed response to the USS Pueblo incident. Maybe people wanted Truman or Eisenhower to respond more strongly to China's aggression towards Taiwan. Whatever the case...the evidence shows that a lot of simmers want to play out a Cold War (or super power war by proxy) scenario involving the "golden age" of Naval and Marine Corps aviation.

I will have to go part 2 of the list.... SAC (Strategic Air Command) was also very well done. A lot of the Actors in the movie were actual vets or servicemen "Well gee there...orr errr...gosh...I want to live Clarence....orr err...and uh..." Blue Thunder did rock, very well made, just sadistic. Bridges of Tok-ri, that we little Irish lad was full of piss and vinegar...oh toy toy toy.. Air America was pretty well made and had a good story line, I just wonder, did the plane actually need fuel or did Richard Downy Jr. get high enough for him and the entire crew. *The Worse Airplane movies ever I can't remember the name of it (it came out a year after Iron Eagle and used the same footage, but this time the CIA sponsored the mission.) it was like watching low budget porn. Fire Birds The Iron Eagle series is just cheesy. Stealth Pearl.. (I won't even mention the rest)

Top Gun not because the terminology was real, the squadrons (VA-25 Flying F-14s!), but because the flight scenes were all original and done specifically for that movie. Flight of the Intruder The Final Countdown (if you want to see the golden Age of Naval aviation you got it) Airplane The Memphis Belle (although B-24s are better!!!) The Battle of Britain The Tuskegee Airmen *13 Days gets and honorable mention for the RF-8 scene.

Rule of thumb, don't pull any Gs before and during weapons release, with guided weapons, they will come off flipping and flopping around like a fuel tank.

Well if it is any consolation, you find 1650 pros for around 60-80 bucks to tide you over. Also some 2600s for sale, many have been weary of ati's support. Check out newegg, tiger direct, amazon, or buy.com

Trying to get a high end APG card might be a bit of problem, a lot of the higher 7900 and 7800s are rare and still cost as much as a mid-ranged PCI-E card (which have a better interface and more speed). Upgrading to a PCI/SLI/Crossfire mother board might be a an option. You can go to newegg.com or tigerdirect.com and find a decent dual-core (even quad core ) combo for under 400 bucks. A mid ranged PCI express card (nvidia) will be around 100-120 bucks, plus when prices come down on them you can always by another one and SLI it. There are some low priced ATI cards tout being able to keep up with the 8800. YOU DO NEED A HIGH END AND STABLE power supply (no cheaper than 60 bucks if you can find it on sale.) DDR 2 (depending on sales and promotional) will run 30-70 bucks. You are looking at the 500-700 price range (depending on what you skimp on and what parts you can use from your old system.) I know its rough for us APG guys, but it looks like PCI and SLI will be the only option in the very near future.

Well the last F-14 update I used had the F-15A and WOE hud symbols, I believe it was sandmartin's. Also I did do a avionics swap with one of the older F-15s from Column5's site. I did that because I wanted two eras of F-14s in game. (Basically the stock Mirage Factory one with Vf-1, and other hi-vis skins) which were 70s-80s era planes, and then the another F-14 folder which had flat grey skins and a/g capability for use in the 90-00s. As far as windscreen symbols go I have seen pics, posts, videos, and etc. of what have coined, the correct F-14 windscreen symbols, but I am not sure if these have been released. (maybe they have but I haven't gotten up to speed yet.)

I don't know , I hope that in future the ADI ball can be replaced with a radar or tv screen, but right now I will take it, and typhoid's tweaks are always decent, and on par. His stuff has saved me going through the F-14 ini and adjusting the loads and cockpits, every time I do a reinstall or drive wipe. The f-14 pit has come a long way and who knows what the future will bring. Now if we can just get some hud symbology.

I remember this type of complaint being brought up before, the AI really won't fire anything unless it is a anti-radiation, iron bomb, or a/a. You have to remember that all of the "weapons packs" with guided weapons and such were 3rd party addons. In fact TK had no intention of adding flir and guided weapon usage until after a lot of guided weapons were being implemented in the latest weapon packs. I remember initially the guided weapons in the weapons pack could only be used against trucks and tanks, and there was no ability to attack structures until after a certain patch. You have to give it to TK and Thirdwire, because they have been responsive to community developments and trends from the get go. Centering patches and updates around popular mods made by the community. Had this been another game or company, we would have been stuck putting around the desert and bombing targets at 20,000 ft (with a stock arsenal of Mks just so we could see the explosive effects.)

I hope this is not another "young college/grad yuppies" get killed while partying or getting laid flick ... I do not know if I can stomach another one of those movies. Judging from the promos and reviews it seems this movie (like every other thing that comes out) is geared toward the myspace crowd.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but you know the Hun did not like being painted in "flat" schemes. Around the engine the paint would burn off and on the rest of the plane it would peel off in large sections.

I have seen a few of the new series they are pretty decent...

I think they need to fire every writer, because the past four years of tv has been the same recycled crime drama/ sex in the city/ reality show garbage. The writers have not been missed.
