  1. Stiglr, Just curious, do you play any of the SF series of sims?
  2. It requires the whole stock desert terrain from SFP1, desert.cat, desert.TFD, desert.HFD....etc, so the KB post above does not apply. As the README states, you must own SFP1 to play it. The only way it will work in WOE, is if you copy the whole desert folder from SFP1, into WOE, and then installed the Harrier Campaign.exe You can buy it from thirdwire.com for 19.99
  3. Why no more Tomcats?

There is some talk of one. We're going to start some simulation studies before the year is over.
  4. Server, Look at the HUD in the F-14 included in the Harrier Campaign, or wait until I get home tonight and I'll send you the files. EDIT: Do you have the DS beta installed, it's there also.
  5. It's going to be split up into a TBD number of self-installing .exe's.

  7. The Desert Storm mod will require you to have WOE, and it will need to be patched up to the upcoming patch in order for it to work. The reasons for this are several. I'm not going to type all night trying to justify why we're doing it this way. In short, we're using some things that only come with the stock WOE game. We're waiting for the latest patch because it adds several thing that we feel are needed to make the game play as best as it can be. We're making the mod for ourselves, because it is something we're interested in. If others enjoy it, then that's great. We're not going to rush and put out something half-arse because others are getting tired of waiting. Dave, you're the project manager, please tell me if I missed the requirement that this mod must be everything to all people, the greatest sim experience ever, stop world hunger, etc etc. If people don't want to make a seperate WOE install or don't want to patch their install, by all means, don't download the DS mod. Even better put your own together. Canadair, If you would like to pull objects and such from Desert Storm, and use them in your own work, by all means, have at it. But honestly, the absolute last thing on my mind is worrying about what some else is going to do with this or that piece, and if it will work for what they want. That's asking too much. My current plan for this is to make many updates overtime. For example, the current terrain is to small to have all the acurate airfields Coalition aircraft flew from. I've already started one that includes everything, but that will come in a later update. That being said, I welcome any cretiques and suggestions about the content. once it's released. But it will be for WOE, and it will be for the next patch. Download it, don't download it, or make your own.

  10. The Nicest Thing...

    Good stuff.
  11. Supreme Court Rejects Death Penalty.......

"The death penalty is not a proportional punishment for the rape of a child," Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in his majority opinion. I would argue that death is not penalty enough.
  12. The .ini files are contained within the various .cat files. Think of the .cat files as .zip files. You'll need the .cat extractor to extract the .ini files out. It is here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...mp;showfile=343 There is no need, or way, to put the .ini files back into the .cat. The extracted file may need to stay in the folder were it's parent .cat file is, or it may need to be moved to a different folder. Aircraft .ini's that are extracted from ObjectData.cat need to be placed in the aircraft's folder for example. The original .ini file will always be in the .cat file. If you don't like a change you made, delete the modified .ini file, and the game will go back to using the originial one from the .cat file. You'll never need to do anything with a .dll file. Most mod's are compatible across all games. There some exceptions if a mod uses a core game file that is only in one game. For example, there are mod's made for WOV's B-52D, that won't work in Strike Fighters, because the aircraft is not included in that game. There isn't a short answer to your #2. For example, if you install an aircraft, you can imediately use it in Single Missions. You can use that aircraft in a campaign, but the campaign's .ini files will need to be edited to do so. Read through the knowledge base if you have not. Install one addon at a time, and make sure it works. Ask if you have issues. The sim's structure will become intuative over time, but not overnight.
  13. I don't see how any of us here can answer that question for you. We don't know what your skill set is, or even more importantly, what your interests are. If whatever you decide on isn't something you enjoy doing, you probably won't continue to work on it for very long. Play the game, read through the knowledge base, extract some .ini files and look through them, and find something that you think you'll enjoy working. We can't rank every possibility by order of difficulty.
  14. Happy Birthday FastCargo

    Happy Birthday FC.
  15. The G Model pictured will first be released as part of DS. Once I paint all the various camo's, there will be a package released of a couple of G's and a couple H Models.
  16. To add to what FastCargo said, I've spent the last seven years flying full blown F-35 and F-22 sims on almost a daily basis. Full cockpits, dome's, hardware-in-the-loop, motion-based, etc... but until recently had never flown anything for real. I was lucky enough last year to get selected to take an Intro To Flight Test course taught by several guys from the Naval Test Pilot School at Pax. I went up in a Bonanza, full of instrumentation, for a 1:45 min flight. Other than take off and landing, I had the controls the whole time. It took me at least 20 minutes to stop trying to squeeze the paint off the yoke. Even after I relaxed, I hardly remember looking out of the window. My eyes were either on my lap cards, or on the instruments trying to stay within parameters as I flew the test manuevers. It definately wasn't as easy as I thought. :)
  17. Mega Poll: Greatest Rock Albums of All Time

    1. Prince, Purplerain (I get laughed at all the time for naming my work computer Purplerain) 2. Def Leppard, Hysteria
  18. Here's an oldie but goodie from Deuces, with pictures: http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?...928&fpart=1
  19. Do you have the FLIGHT MODEL and LANDING difficulty both set on HARD? If I remember correctly, you just need to change LANDING to MEDIUM or less, and you'll stop flipping over on touchdown. I don't know the reason, and haven't yet tried to figure out why.
  20. Iron Man

    Thanks Fates
  21. Iron Man

Did it deserve the PG-13 rating?
  22. Use the AV-8C that comes with my Harrier Campaign. It has MoonJumper's latest avionics, including CCIP, and a newer flight model from Kreelin.
  23. "ObjectiveID" means different things, depending on what the Flight's "MissionType" is set to. Here's a link to Kreelin's mission editor: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=2678 Here's a link to StreakEagle's tutorial for the same editor. Read it, it will give you a good idea of what all the VARIABLES in a .msn file do: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=2679
