SF2: North Atlantic
Gr.Viper replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Knowledge Base
I've got Arab AI Hunters to engage the stock US fleet. Strafing went lovely, but they can't hit a barn door with bombs. Mind, stock US and Soviet fleets are very different in defense composition: the US objects are rigged to shoot down bombers and ASM, while close range defenses are nearly absent. -
5th of March in Kazakhstan during the opening of a ski festival someone fired up Livin' la Vida Loca instead of the national anthem. Watch http://tengrinews.kz/strange_news/209570/

Super tough MiG-23

Ramming is unpredictable crap in SF2. I've seen AI P-51D chop off the tail of AI F-16 with the prop. As for AIM-9 it's as if their power is random. Sometimes they shred a bomber to bits, other times they barely scratch a fighter. -
They switched the website into low-bandwidth mode too.

The torrent option on GH is fast and steady.
-
Right... their website is down and links are unreachable. Ah. here's one http://www.gamershell.com/download_87172.shtml

Is it like Mount & Blade only with a budget?

To their credit at least the menu theme is new. One of them...
-
Oh, yeah... This is what a main menu looks like, when somebody works on it.

So, what happens if they're loaded onto stock campaign squadrons? -

It looks fabulous! Have you tried updating the graphics card drivers? -
A journey of a Russian photographer through the country from the capital to scrap yards to poppy fields. With notes in Russian. This, I think, should be an online-translator-friendly version (plain text + pics). Links to any of the 7 parts are at the bottom of the entries - http://zyalt.livejournal.com/409891.html This is a fancy pants gallery edition which includes a few entries not present above (school, market) http://turbina.ru/authors/ilya/journals/697/ Worth a look, even if you're not going to bother with notes, since the pics are just nice, IMO.

What must be with next SF2 title...
Gr.Viper replied to BearGryllis's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Why not the other way round? You won't see the huge Soviet interceptor fleet otherwise. -
It does get better as the reporter moves away from dense cities, military bases, rusty tanks, child labor brick makers, poppies... Afghanistan looks at its best in those areas where no people are involved.

It can also be said that he made steps towards FlaklandsFalklands with off-map bombing and, well, the sea. To continue the walking metaphor, after taking those steps he's now standing with legs spread wide, hoping that 2NA sales don't kick him in the balls. -

We need an "Attack and destroy the enemy Tree" mission. And probably we'll need The Larch. -

Wow... can this be applied to ground-based SAM? -

Maybe that's why they merge with the Red fleet. -
Bah, who needs it now. GOG released the good ol' Hind.

No English sources, use an online translator of your choice http://www.itar-tass.com/c1/364610.html http://www.ria.ru/trend/helicopter_crash_13032012/ First Ka-52 crash, NW of Moscow, training flight, one of the two pilots survived the crash but is now reported dead as well by some sources. They didn't eject. They say they lost the chopper last evening. Last evening we had a bloody blizzard with heavy fog over here, I wonder if the spell reached them.
-
Preliminary results of the investigation are in and point to the crew losing orientation at night in a snow storm. Probably didn't eject for the same reason. *sigh*

You should go ahead and prepare your happy dance for the tool release. Here's an example -
Ah, the smell of the stables...
-
Yes, the edges go up. More so on the side where the blades are running into the air flow. So on Ka two rotors going in opposite directions do come closer in flight on one side. Single rotor isn't without trouble either - careless handling of Hind can chop its tail off, and stuff like retreating blade stall and vortex ring is generally dangerous.
