Thanks to Epizikl's poniter I present you this A short video in this item http://www.popmech.ru/blogs/post/1395-okoltsovannyiy-samol-t/ Yes the caption at the beginnig say's it's done in 10-13m/s side wind. And a totally crazy flight here Apparently it flies only because it doesn't let go of the air. From what I gather they have the balls to test it in most extreme wind and with car-grade petrol.

The idea is indeed old as PopMech article described. The point of these guys is that they built a flyable ring out of junk and an engine.

Judging by the way it performs a banking turn, a geat deal of its lift is generated by the prop. I liked an explanation by someone of the design team, that this wing "traps the air in a tube, thus the air has nowhere to go and is forced to do its job" Oh, and they also say the plane can be easily built out of sheet metal.

Kind of a game ladder for prop lovers

Or you can go 16 vs 16 which in my Poland vs. RAF experiment gave P-51 bots a chance to bag two Spits. -

I just got really lucky. Seems Mustang AI doesn't quite know how to turn efficiently. They pull the stick too much and release. Try the same set up with Vampires. For some reason they are easier to beat (well, at least to hit) even with excellent training. -

Survived (wounded) with two kills, ~430 rounds expended. Actually 1 normal kill, 1 hit plane tried to follow and hit the ground, and another one hit the ground by itself. The fight was fun. My whole flight was decimated, I took several hits, the engine caught fire, I shut it down and went into glide. Fire went out, the engine turned out to be fully functional Caught a couple more hits to the right wing, at which point the Spits lost interest, formed up and headed home. Used speed advantage and caught up with them. Opened fire on the last plane in formation and realized that 3 guns on the right wing were silent. Still the Spit went down. Proceeded to the next one and in all this mess somehow missed one Spit, who turned out to be behind me (keeping my plane level was challenge enough). As I opened fire on a plane, the one in the back finally snapped and opened fire. So I called it a day (left guns died too) and headed for the nearest base, followed by the Spit who had seen me and the one whose wing I'd scratched. The scratched one crashed, the other Spit followed me right ot the AAA of Israeli base. At which point, playing with view keys I accidentialy pressed Esc and quit. Gaaahhh, I knew, I should've changed that binding... Now I'll have to reenact the whole thing again just to see the ending. Is it me or damaged surfaces lose efficiency? My wing was in place, had standard damage texture, but it felt as if it had hole in the surface. -

Imagine the tank commander filing a report on this.. "...at which point I hit the enemy plane with my cannon. Literally." -
Too many colisions is Exp Pack 1?
Gr.Viper replied to ziker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Collisions have been like that for a long as I remember. As for their number it's still much better that in FE2 release where a head on merge could leave only 1 plane on each side. Still... One more person mentioning it to TK woludn't hurt -

Test flight of 16 Polish Stangs vs 16 RAF Spits in 1948 Europe. P-51D training normal, Spit training excellent. Score 16:0 with RAF owning the opposition. P-51D and Spit training excellent (well, excluding me). Score 16:2, with pretty much the same result. Only AI kills, I'm too busy checking my 6. Funny, but initially the game assigned 8 Mustangs for that mission. What I noticed is that AI turns Spits smoother that P-51. Mustangs jerk about in every banking turn. What's P-51D max speed in level flight by whatever measurement it has on cockpit instrument? So slowww... and bleeds speed with each surface movement. -
Problems with Exp.1

Until a patch fixes that, turn Unlimited effects back to High. They seem to be the reason for a lot of glitches at the moment. -

Might be easier to test in SF2E. I bet RAF has slightly higher standards. -

I've driven a oak stake into them too. It's just that they seem to enjoy head to head attacks a lot. If you get on their tail they're toast. Maybe another round of asking TK to improve dogfighting AI is in order? -

Ah, forget Spits... Anything P-51 can do against Vampire? They have a nasty habit of ripping my wing off in a head-on pass. -

Umm.. how do you do it? My experience with Spits is mostly BTW, those 50 cal make P-51D a lousy CAS plane. Just one T-34 takes a lot of concentrated fire without rockets. -

I think Akrotiri is the only safe option and the runway will have to be parallel to map border so that take off/landing doesn't hit the wall. Googled it... The bastards.. The real runway IS like that. Well, almost.
