Algeria to return Russian MiG jets opting for French Rafale fighters instead?
Gocad replied to BUFF's topic in Military and General Aviation
I doubt that they would be able to purchase 30+ Rafales for the same price...unless Dassault and French government are in a very generous mood. -
The Tempest V was powered by a Napier Sabre engine. ...that doesn't look like a radial engine to me.

Uhm, I think the Tempest II (powered by a radial engine) was faster than the Tempest V.

Battle of Britain Campaign Feedback
Gocad replied to Baltika's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
Well, my two cents here would be that I do not think that flak should be upgraded to extent where it frequently blows you out of the sky. The damage modelling in-game in conjunction with the mission requirements isn't really perfect anyway. Besides, think about the capabilities of an AAA gun and the target it is shooting at. The big bore AAA guns don't shoot at a specific aircraft, they fire at an area. Interesting. Have I mentioned that I have done decals not only for Spitfire units...? -

Spitfire!
Gocad replied to Gocad's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Well, I have already worked on the decal locations... That's exactly what I intend to do. In fact I do have devised a scheme that would allow to use one basic skin for various squadrons, just like the TW skins do. The problem I see here, however, is that this would make the installation of such a skin a bit more work-intensive, since in order to work it would require that one does not only edit his squadronlist, but would also have to rename the squadroncode decals. Actually that is what is holding me back right now to upload my MTO skins. To illustrate what I just said: All Spitfires there use the same skin. -

What? Just 70000 ft? I guess you need to try harder.... 95000 ft with a MiG-25PD. -
Spitfire!
Gocad replied to Gocad's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Ok, second round: Basic RAF ETO skin, Spit VIII of 91 Sqn RAF. Needs a few more details and I will also do some invasion stripes for it. Basic RAF MTO skin, Spit VIII of 145 Sqn RAF. This one is as good as done, I just need to figure how what to do with the decals. USAAF MTO skin, Spit VIII, belonging to the 308th FS. Individual aircraft decal position needs to fixed, otherwise same as above. Second version of my Malta skin. This one is finished, I will probably upload it tomorrow. -
Spitfire!
Gocad replied to Gocad's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yeah, the pictures in my first post are hosted ar Imageshack. One more: This is basically my version of the RAF ETO scheme, with markings of 91 Sqn RAF, which was given the name 'Nigeria' because the loyal subjects there had donated money so that the RAF could pay for these Spitfires. (And yes, I did forget the finflash. It's called WiP for a reason, right? ) -

Whats Your Favorite Airplane Movie
Gocad replied to PIGHUNTA69's topic in Military and General Aviation
Flyboys? Anyway, I forgot one, which is a rather recent film. Dark Blue World, a film about Czech pilots that flew with the RAF during WWII. Not exactly an action film, but it has some decent Spitfire action. -

No, that F-104 was just part of an experiment how high an aircraft could go in-game. I gave up after I managed to get up to 2000000 ft. For more information see this thread (link)
