  1. Hmm, did you add weapons to the unit entry in the campaign data file? Player Unit entries should look like this: //----- Player Unit [AirUnit118] AircraftType=A-4C Squadron=VA192 ForceID=1 Nation=USN StartDate=4/1965 DefaultTexture=USNGrey1 StartNumber=25 BaseArea=Yankee Station CarrierBased=TRUE CarrierNumber=31 BaseMoveChance=0 RandomChance=100 MaxAircraft=16 StartAircraft=16 MaxPilots=16 StartPilots=16 Experience=100 Morale=100 Supply=100 MissionChance[sWEEP]=0 MissionChance[CAP]=0 MissionChance[iNTERCEPT]=0 MissionChance[ESCORT]=0 MissionChance=90 MissionChance[CAS]=100 MissionChance[sEAD]=80 MissionChance[ARMED_RECON]=50 MissionChance[ANTI_SHIP]=0 MissionChance[RECON]=0 UpgradeType=NEVER Supply[001].WeaponType=Mk81 Supply[001].Quantity=1440 Supply[002].WeaponType=Mk82 Supply[002].Quantity=1440 Supply[003].WeaponType=Mk83 Supply[003].Quantity=240 Supply[004].WeaponType=LAU-3A Supply[004].Quantity=80 Supply[005].WeaponType=LAU-10A Supply[005].Quantity=80 Supply[006].WeaponType=BLU-1 Supply[006].Quantity=480 Supply[007].WeaponType=Tank300_A4 Supply[007].Quantity=480 Supply[008].WeaponType=CBU-24B Supply[008].Quantity=480 AI units don't need those supply[xxx] entries, but they're necessary for the player units. If you're not sure what weapons you should add, then take a look at the loadout file of the plane type you want to insert.
  2. There are some variants of it that can be found in the Cold War section, but like Wrench said, it's actually a stock aircraft, except in WOV, although its Objects.cat contains most of the files. All you need to make it show up in WOV (as an AI only aircraft) is a skin and some .ini files.
  3. "normally"? You do realize that you're comparing a fictional plane with a really one here, right?
  4. I'm a bit confused here. I d/l the Tornado package, looked at the Loadout and Data files and noticed that the Loadout mentions something of Sidewinder stations (which the actual Tornado has), but there are no entries for them in the Data files... And without them there's no possiblity that the Tornado could carry AAMs...since they always carry their countermeasures on the outer wings stations.
  5. AFAIK there are no nukes in the stock SFP1/WOV/WOE, but the WeaponsPack has plenty of nukes (mostly Bombs like the Mk43, B61, B83, but also CGRs like the SRAM or Tomahawk and the AIR-2 Genie.) in it.
  6. Nice! Is there a model you haven't done yet?
  7. Heh, I knew FastCargo would have done that, after all he kinda inspired me to do this. And he definitely did a better job placing the missile rails. *bows*
  8. That should do it...for now. One thing remains, though. Where do I find the texture for the LAU-105 rail? I'm tempted to change its color so that it fits better to the paint scheme.
  9. Thanks for the information, guys. I have added an extra set of weapon stations, looks good enough. The attachment position needs a bit more work, but I think I'm on the right track.
  10. Well, calling it a carbon copy maybe a bit too much, but the shape of the J-10 is indeed very similar to that of the Lavi...but this must not mean that the Chinese simply copied it.
  11. Minority vote for the JH-7A. But then again, they all look great.
  12. Not every Mech is an effective anti-air platform, but they are definitely harder to take down than an ordinary tank...

The problem with the M16 is that the gas used to operate the bolt is pushed back into the breech. Thus it requires more maintenance than rifles that use other gas-operated systems. LINK:I think this Wikipedia article explains it quite well. The XM8 has the bascially the same short-stroke gas system used in the H&K G36.
  14. New russian stealth fighter

Sure, it had the same caliber, but it used a gas piston (more parts, but less fouling) and didn't had a zillion accessories attached to it. I think that the problem with introducing new weapon systems in general is that they are usually developed under conditions that no longer exist when the product is finished.
  15. Yeah, why should it not work...ingame?
  16. Eh? The Solomons Terrain I d/l here requires WOV, so ships are definitely in: Like I said before, I do not know whether single missions and campaigns are different regarding carrier placement, but after I added a carrier station in the Solomons_Targets.ini, the carrier showed up in my campaign where it should.
  17. First, a new cockpit, now new wings. Looks like the Warthog will be around for a few decades more. Wouldn't be surprised if these are the last birds to be replaced by the F-35...

Crew-served weapons, perhaps. But rifles...nah, it's still the M4 soldiers will get, at least according to the plans of the Army, which wanted to buy another 100.000 without competition. Besides, the unit cost for an XM8 was never 10K. But it's true, one argument was that although it was an improvement over the M16, it was not enough to make it the successor.
  19. I have been toying around with it, too, trying build a campaign. So what I'm saying comes from this perspective. Do you have designated a carrier station on the map? I'm asking this because the solomon_targets.ini does not have one in it, so I had to add it myself. The entry should look like this: [TargetArea021] Name=Echo Station Position=730000,450000 Radius=5657 ActiveYear=0 Location=3 Alignment=FRIENDLY CarrierStation=TRUE I'm not sure whether this also required for creating single missions, but it's necessary to operate from a carrier during a campaign.
  20. The Pave Storm is a cluster bomb? I didn't know that.

To be blunt, the money from the Commanche program was needed elsewhere. GWOT and OIF have put a tremendous strain on the existing flying inventory. Besides, the RAH-66 concept was bascially a leftover from the Cold War...and is of little value on the contemporary battlefield. The XM-8 is dead. It got killed because the the military kept adding requirements, like less weight, share the majority of its parts with a LMG, etc. IMHO some of the demands were outright silly. But the M16 has reached such a mythical status that it becomes hard to develop a successor that would accepted by everyone.
