  1. Vehicle use is random. You can make the Merkava show up by either a) place them on a terrain (that would require some editing of the terrain_targets/types file) or b) use them in a campaign with ground units or finally c) adjust the availability of the Merkava and other tanks/APCs. The last two options also require that you play a CAS mission.

  2. Is it just me or these deficiencies only brought up to prove once again how bad "the government" has failed? I know that this might a minority opinion here, but I'm pretty tired of all those "OMG! We don't have as many planes/tanks/ships/whatever available like x 10, 20, etc years ago" calls. Prove me wrong, but I'm pretty convinced that in 9.5 out of 10 cases such reports are made for a number reasons, but definitely not because someone is thinking about the nation's safety or the much quoted "warfighter's needs" (I really can't stand this phrase, mostly because of the circumstances when it's used)....

  3. To be honest it's hard to give a definite answer here. Truth is there are some prop FMs that work just fine in SF2, but there are also those that shouldn't be used with any post 06 SF1 version, which might be a bit of a problem nowadays, because while the older patches are still available at Thirdwire, new SF1 versions (from the TW online store) are updated to the latest version and as far as I know it's not possible to remove those updates.

  4. I wouldn't normally call 12 helos a "significant order" like AW did, but then again I wouldn't believe it would cost €560m, either. That's more like what I would expect a dozen fighters to cost.

The contract, valued at around € 560 million, includes an extensive five year logistic support service and initial aircrew and technician training.

Good luck getting a dozen (modern) fighters and the support package at that price. Even the Russian aircraft aren't that cheap anymore.

  5. There isn't an endless supply of MiGs. Once they're gone, they're gone...for awhile.

And there's no point chasing MiGs when there aren't any, don't you agree?

Seriously, it all boils down to the initial inventory, the losses during the campaign (it's dynamic) and the aircraft replacement rate (which is set in the campaign_data)

The North Vietnamese don't have that many MiGs to begin with and it's defined that the replacement is quite slow.

Besides, MiG encounters were actually quite rare anyway, so flying escort or strike missions without seeing a MiG isn't that far off anyway.

  6. Did you not recognize (heh!) Bruce Boxleitner aka TRON himself in the trailer, talking to Flynn's son? The only one I don't know about yet is the woman from the original.

I think it's just Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner reprising their roles here.

  7. Burn Notice has to be good since Bruce Campbell is in it....but the show would be still good if he weren't. Burn Notice has a fresh feel to it, although I can't help thinking that it kinda reminds me of MacGyver...

  8. The German government should be really quiet about this whole matter, especially when it comes to blaming the US government of favoritism... *points at A400M*

But Gepard, it would have not made much sense of putting East German military equipment into service with the Bundeswehr for two reasons. First of all, there was the severe reduction of the armed forces after the unification, but also that they would have needed to spend additional money to make the ex-Soviet equipment usable with NATO standards.

[sarcasm]Besides, what does Germany what with strike aircraft anyway....it's not like they would drop bombs on anyone any time soon. That would probably mean the end of the world.[/sarcasm]

    Also, H&Ks unreliable?
