Most efficient way of gaining altitude?
catch replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I look forward to the day when the devs implement a fix for the superior AI performance and the issues with campaign novice mode (ie when not leading). Then it would be perfect. Well ..... once they roll out that Parasol for a spot of artillery ranging and photo-recon opportunities . I'm getting excited just thinking about it -
Nah. Too skinny. Although the orgasmatron had me intrigued. How about Fantastic Voyage with Raquel Welch Something about a trip wasn't it ? creature from the black lagoon

OT - Flight Sims on Mac ...XBox 360?
catch replied to Duce Lewis's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well Duce, 2009 was an "Annus Horribilis" for this little cove. Frankly, I was glad to see its backside wandering over the hill into history. The current release of BOB II looks pretty good. Hope you enjoy that. Wings of Prey looks to be just the ticket for your friend. That'll get him interested, then before you know it, he'll be spending big bucks on a gaming PC to try "real" simulators -
OT - Flight Sims on Mac ...XBox 360?

Duce, hope you're doing well. The Crimson Skies FM is arcade. You won't find the Spinning Incinerator in there. You can stall and drop like a brick but won't spin. Hell of a lotta fun though being a hero in an alternate world of air pirates in an era when the aeroplane was king and transportation/freight was accomplished primarily by Zeppelins instead of rail/truck. The video was from the PC version. There is also a xbox version which is even more arcade than the PC version but a good start into flying games for your mate. -

You mean like this Jarhead ! Cheesy but highly enjoyable for an alternative to the rigours of WW1 ! it's just a lotta fun and very well done. Recommended. -
I don't have a problem hearing archie miles from the front. It's a well documented fact. However, you shouldn't also be able to hear (as I do) the hissing of shrapnel from exploded shells when you're miles from the action. Is there a way to counter this ? If I was to turn "effects" to a low setting would the archie stay at a low sound level even when directly over the front with archie at it's fiercest ? Ditto with hissing shrapnel fragments (which shouldn't be heard unless you're in the middle of a barrage). Of course you could say go full real and turn effects off altogether and bump engine up to 100 but I personally like a bit of "hollywood" for atmosphere. The scenery/terrain improvements are a winner though and deserves high praise The Scenery God is truly in town !

Why ? A change of scenery due mainly to certain things that just pissed me off here. Time for a break before I said something I may regret. But you've got good support from some talented members here and I no longer feel the need or want to hang around here. All I can do is throw money at OBD. I'm very good at that. Re-initiate the donate thing if you need to. I'm sure many, including myself, would reciprocate in kind. Good luck. Wishing OFF a long and continued success.

Waning ! WM, I will not have this kind of talk here. It's bad morale for the chaps. I don't hang around this forum much anymore but that has nothing to do with the majesty of OFF. It will always remain on my hard drive and I will always support it by all and any means at my disposal. I'll be lining up with the rest when you release the payware package and future updates. I'm sure many others (who's presence is not felt at this forum) are of the same mind. Stay positive.

Interesting. I always thought Albert Ball was responsible for influencing the top wing lewis configuration during development of the prototype Se5 similar to the N17 top wing lewis version in which I believe he had some success shooting at EA from underneath with the lewis aimed upward. Didn't know it had anything to do with weight but always wondered what a real beauty the Se5a would have been with twin vickers if it had also been able to retain its flight performance ! Well ... she's still a beauty regardless but I am excruciatingly biased.

LOL .... and I thought CJ was talking about the girl not Austin.

This is a very sad time. Although 180 odd flying hours is really rather good. Have you noticed the poor deceased fellow looks a bit like you Creaghorn ? Please accept my sincere condolences. But you will insist on playing in Creaghorn-mode

In an alternate world where everything is possible I'd like this lovely little Demoiselle for a bit of non-combat fun ! Pre WW1 of course (although it is a parasol configuration ). Now that's real seat of the pants stuff eh ! I flew a similar kite back in the early 80's when the "ultralight" craze was beginning to ... erm .... take off. Wonderful experience. Wish I'd stuck at it .... but RL intrudes and can sidetrack a bloke you know ! bugger bugger bugger bugger bugger .... -
Nope. He's dead. Suggest you set up a new pilot (same name/rank/squadron if you want) as invincible in workshop BEFORE you fly.

The sound of the receding Gotha's echoed in his head as the German soldier slumped back into the rancid trench. Adolf was impressed by the magnificent power of the giant bombers. "One day ......" he mumbled at the same instant as a Britsh mortar shell tore through the sandbags and ignited in a blaze of fury at Adolf's feet. He was thrown against the opposite side of the trench with such force he lost two molars and a testicle. Rising in agony and searching the heavens for a sign, he began to rant .... "vun day I will haff a thousand bombers zat I vill unleash on zose tea unt krumpet Englanders ! Zey will fall onto zere knees in my presence and beg for mercy ! I laugh at zese puny Englanders. For the German race vill rise unt rule for a thousand years and I will be king of the world .... MUAHA MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!" "Now I'd better pop myself off to hospital !" And so to the Gothas ....

Best flight sim investment you'll ever make barkhorn. Had the same issue. Used sticky/scotch tape. Worked a treat. Easy to repair. Cheap. Non-pollutive. No worries. Just fly.

It was more an observation/photographic/artillery spotter than a fighting scout. Recon was the most important role for aircraft in WW1. And it was a historically significant aircraft in the early part of the war which is why the devs have always intended to include it. -
Back in the day they were hip and fashionable and picking up groovy chicks with kohl eyeliner was far easier

I'd back Rick up. It's a lot of fun writing up a bit of story with accurate coordinates etc but that's all it is ... a bit of fun. You can put anything in there (as long as you at least include your wingman's name) that bears no relationship to what actually happened and you'll still get claims. For example, I frequently use "near Bourlon Wood" as the site of the EA's demise. I don't even know where it is or if it existed in France. But it sounds good and I get claims. -

Mmmmmmm Parasol -
Some say setting your cloud slider to 5 stops AI seeing through them. That may help a tad.

I get that intermittently usually after changing views (F4) but most noticeably after switching between player/target and target/player views. I have AA on 8 and that's fine for me ..... sexy straight lines including rigging. When it does go all weird it's an insult to both the modellers and me and it looks so crap I exit out and start again. It could be the vid memory I guess (I have 512mb on a 9800) but who really knows with PC's ? They can reduce an intelligent man to a nervous wreck if you let 'em. In any case for me it's fairly rare now so it's more of an annoyance than anything else and there seems nowt I can do about it anyway except exit and restart. So Dale, you are not completely alone. A reinstall, after a manual deletion of OFF/CFS3 related registry entries, reduced the incidents for me.

Well gentlemen .... did you REALLY think it would be anything BUT the glorious and magnificent Se5a. The best kite ever designed in the whole wide world .... ever. Well perhaps I exaggerate. But she is a little beauty. Rhys Davids ! Stout fellow. Shot down Voss. Another one of my hero's ! And of course congrats Fubar45 ! With all your intricate detail you have brought Arthur's kite to life
