Some Good and Some Bad
Dave replied to Jug's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I bet you its this problem sir. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=12147 -
That is where I know you from ndicki, from the CFS3 world. Here is my thoughts, Bear needs to come over here and talk to some of us about the sim and the likes of Fubar, C5, streakeagle and the other Fm guys to get a clear understanding on what they are getting into. It would be a serious mistake on their part if that didnt. While its good to have FM's that are within 1% of the real thing, there are cases in which that might not work for the sim. Example is streakeagle and his F-4B uber FM, IIRC he made it as close to the real FM as the sim would allow, and the AI couldn't fly it. If they are making FM's for online play, well SF2 doesn't have MP as we all know. I really can't stress enough for them to come over here, talk to us and get to know the sim from some of us who have been dong it for the last 6+ years.

How do you manage your squadron?
Dave replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I go opposite of hgbn. I just started using a 2 ship. I send in my wingman for the target and cover his wing. He does a good job of shacking the target and I scatter any air threats. I am not happy unless I got 2 on my tail and one in my sights. I have them just where they want me. I take of advantage of the smarter AI scatterring when you lob AIM-7's or AIM-120's at them. If they are busy dodging my missiles, they stay off my wingman. The only time I do a squadron in force is when I do a deep strike in daylight. I then take 4 with me with A2G loadout, 4 more with A2A loads only. If I have spares I will load then with ARM and CBU's for air defense suppression. I think I go a little overboard on my mission planning. -
I finally got the wife and I iphones. They are cool as hell, fun and handy. Any other iphone users? What app have you downloaded? Also, to not turn this in a peeing contest, if you dont like them for whatever reason, please keep it to yourself. I seem to recall the last time it was brought up it went that way. I don't want to hear it. Thank you for your cooperation.

Well come to find out it wasnt my Itunes, it was Vista dicking with my Ipod when I plugged it in. I did find a fix for it though. Reloading 3K worth if songs suck. But now I got the problem solved its all good.

Dave replied to swambast's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thanks for the info Tom! Again great article, looking forward to more. -
I have been using Itunes for a few years now and I like it. I did use the pay Napster ages ago. But other than that, I haven't used anything else so I really do not have a basis for comparison. My biggest problem is that once I find a program I like, I usually just stick with it. Which leads not ever looking for a program that might be better.

I have some songs and a couple vids on my iphone. I use my ipod for the gym. I will say I do not use my iphone for music as much I thought I would for that very reason JM brought up. But I do use it for everything else. I am also a gadget junkie too, so things like the iphone and ipod are fun. Its not a status thing for me. I am almost 37 years old, I have no one to impress and can give a f*** about most peoples opinions about the everyone having ipods etc. They work for me and I enjoy having them. However its not for everyone. So I guess its mileage may very. If you throw your cell in a drawer after work, you don't need an iphone, but if someone doesn't have one just because everyone else does, they are missing out. To me a person like that does care about their status and by not having the latest thing etc in their minds somehow makes them a stand out. PULLLEEEAAAAASSSEEE I mean heaven forbid, you have something you like.. and... and wait, someone else has it too? OMG, how could they? If an iphone works for you, great, if it doesn't, hey thats good too. People need to quit worrying about whether or not someone might think of them over an iphone for example and do things that that make them happy.

I have never touched AceCombat either. I am into other games and that is how I take a break from simming. Agreed, other than that, it works great.

Which Do You Prefer?
Dave replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Agreed there. But the same can be said for going after a Mig-17 in an F-4B in 1972. Exciting. Too close for missiles, going to guns...oh wait, I don't have a #$^%*#@ GUN! -
Your loss. Sometimes people need to get over that DRM crap. I have used Steam for years and NEVER had a problem.

The Emperor forgives you for your heresy.

This thing is a blast. Not sure about the being leashed to the world though. You are only leashed if you want to be. I have 4 kids, 2 in school, 2 in day care. Wife is AD Army and I'm full time USAFR. So we have to keep in touch with each other. Its manditory.

Can you explain that more?

Which Do You Prefer?
Dave replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well flying modern jets in a knife fight just isnt as excting. Its over way too quickly. Flying A2A from post Korea to Vietnam is where its at. You will earn your money there for sure. 100 times more exciting than modern A2A combat. -

There is a good write up about it over at SimHq. Well worth the read. -
The Spectre is coming...

Yeah you can forget about the Ai using it. However, you can hit targets yourself with some practice. -
F-111 Weapons Delivery...
Dave replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
As someone said for retarted bomb dispersal, use my 700 ft at 600 to 750 kts method. Pickle them all off. You never miss. For using 4 2000 lbs bombs, going in low is not an option unless they are balute. (think about it, you are going to drop 4 tons of high explosives) You DO NOT WANT to level bomb from altitude as you are SAM bait. Dive bomb or a low-hi-low method is best. You can add a CCIP to it if you want but that is all on your own. Use the range and practice is the best recommendation. Also remember that the F-111F is geared for LGB's, the F-111D is not. -
They just showed it on NBC....Oh yeah, its going to be cool.
