  1. Like you, I didn't think much of the F-8 at first, too odd looking. But after flying it in WoV, I've a new respect and liking for it. Would like to have the SEA Camo for it for the USAF. Would look nice escorting USAF SEA Camo painted A-7s. :sohappy: Templates for the TW model would be greatly appreciated. Hope some turn up soon.
  2. Sorry to make a nuisance of myself, but I'm new to modding SF and I have lots of questions and this seems to be the best place to find answers. I have three questions I'm trying to get answered for a current project. I'm working on a Korean War install using Edward's Korean War mod from this site. The stock aircraft get deleted from this install which screws up the Instant Action. I've tried to substitue Korean War planes for the deleted stock planes in the options.ini file, but the Instant Action still crashes. - Any idea if it's possible to switch planes and terrain in Instant Action? In this case I'd like to have a Korean War Instant Actions. - Is it possible to toggle the labels off/on? - This Korean War install comes with two planes, an F-84G Thunderjet and a Meteor that fly with the canopy open. How do we close the canopy? I know we can map extra keys to actions, but I can't find any information on how to do that? Thanks for any help provided. Geary
  3. I've downloaded a few planes over the years that have internal gun data in the plane's data.ini file, but the main gun won't fire. I have one now. The gun data is in the gundata.ini file; ran the gundata editor and still won't fire. I changed out the gun data with other guns that work in the same install. Still won't work. Where else besides the Internal Gun entry in the plane data.ini file should I look? Thanks, Geary
  4. I merged SF2:NA into a full-4 merged install and a stand-alone SF2 Europe. If I start the SF2: NA .exe mod and fly the F-14 I get animation in the two MDF's in the center and lower center of the cockpit panel. (Picture 1) But if I start any of the other merged installs, ie, Europe, Isreal, Vietnam, etc, and fly the F-14, there is nothing in the MDF's, they're as blank as a blonde's expression. (Picture 2) I thought if the plane showed up in any merged install it called out the same cockpit, avionics, data, etc, from the same centalized magical black hole all that stuff is stored in. Anyone else have this problem or know how fix it?
  5. I think I figured it out. Some of the installs where the animation didn't work were set to easy gameplay in the options menu. When set to normal or harder, the animation shows up. Guess I'll have to start wearing my big boy pants to fly. Sure am going to miss wearing diapers in the cockpit. Saved me soiling my pants on numerous occations.   6. DoctorQuest, I have renamed the NA .exe and created an install from that. The avionics don't show up in that install. That's one reason I'm stumped. ST0RM, I can do what you say, but I also want to mod other installs with the F-14 included. The F-14 is ONE of the reasons I bought NA. But if that's the only conclusion I can come to, I may impelement that idea. Brain32, Could be I mis-installed the NA in my installs, but if there's anyother way to install I'm unaware of, then I installed it correctly. IIRC the MDF's worked when I first installed NA a week ago. Thanks, guys, More to reseach and experiment with. Geary
  7. I've converted most of Del's great SF2 AH-64 Apache for SF1 and somhow even have some weapons working on it, but can't seem to get the main gun to shoot. Anyone know how to do this? Also, I've seen numerous referenced here at CA to a SWOTL install/campaign. Is there such a thing? I can't find it in the download section. Any help on these items is greatly appreciated. Geary
  8. I've exported Fractalnoise's beautiful F-14 SF1 avionics update for the MF F-14 into SF2E on the same MF F-14A. All the HUD avionics work in SF1. Still get that beautiful cockpit panel but a good deal of the HUD avionics don't work in SF2E. Moved and changed all sorts of folder, ini entries, tried different avionics packages, etc.. Still can't get them to all work. Checked the SF2 KB. Couldn't find anything covering SF1-to-SF2 avionics. Any help or pointing to help is appreciated.

  10. Dave, I am using the SF2 TMF Tomcats, but the cockpit struts are super thick, dark and heavy. Makes feel like I need to pull my head into my neck. Fractalnoise's is thinner and easier to see.

  12. Hi Ian, I don't know all the bits that don't work, but much of the HUD symbology doesn't show when I switch between radar modes. If the picture attaches correctly, you will be able to see what's supposed to show. Cheers, Geary
  13. Hi all, I'm looking for the Su-30KN. I've found references to it throughout the site, but can't seem to find the plane. I have found the Su-30MKM in a campaign and a Su-30Mk2 as a stand alone Bolivian plane based on the Su-30NK, but no Su-30KN. Any help is appreciated. Geary
  14. With the help of a few knowledgeable and kind souls from this site, today I've managed to convert the SF2 Alpha Jet to SF1. But, the jet has fuel tanks that won't go away permanently. I've deleted all entries to ANY fuel tanks in the loadout and data ini files. I've deleted the called for tank entries from the out file and the weaponsdata.ini file and the weapons files from the weapons folder. Then ran the weapons editor. I've deleted the FT weapons entry on the weapons stations entries in the data.ini. And rem'd out any and all entries to fueltankname and node in the data.ini in the weapon stations area of the data.ini. The tanks don't show up as a choice in the amaments loadout screen. If I Ieave the weapons stations empty, the tanks don't show up on the plane. BUT!!! If I choose ANY weapon for the wingstations the tanks AND the weapon show up in the same places. SO... I suspect the tanks are in the lod. I may be wrong. If so, can they be removed or hidden so I can choose other weapons and get on with my close air support missions? Any help is appreciated. Geary

  16. Possibly, But because of guys like you and Soulfreak and Dave, there's a ton of stuff and knowledge in the SF1 section. You guys already know this stuff, but you did it for the same reasons I'm doing it. You love to tweak and build things. Remember the feeling of tracking a tweak and the exhilaration when you got it tweaked they way you wanted it. I bet you're feeling these same things with SF2 now. I'll be moving on to SF2 soon. Just want to tweak my SF1 installs. AND I'm having fun while learning. Thanks for all of that, all of you.
  17. I've converted the SF2 AlphaJet to show up in SF1. But can't get the .dds skin textures to convert to .bmp to skin the plane in SF1. The Cockpit, Pilots and country insignia show up in color, but no color on the plane. I've converted the .dds files to different sized .bmp files with different paint programs and tried many differnt sizes, but still no color. I've also changed the .dds callout in the planes .out file to .bmp, but that didn't work either. Is it possible to convert these SF2 .dds files for use in SF1? Thanks for any help, Geary
  18. Thanks for the suggestion, Guys, I have every Third Wire game produced and looking forward to future releases. Just trying to get a bunch of my SF1 installs cleaned up and running the way I want them before I put them aside and start in on SF2 I also enjoy learning about the internal works of these games and much of what I learn in SF1 transfers to SF2.

Wrench, After staring stupidly for about an hour at the 'remove component' and other kb posts regarding removing components, a fitful night of Hitchcockesque dreams of ini entries and an hour of making ini entry changes in the plane data.ini file, the outer-limits fuel tanks are banished. I can feel brain cells growing like a chia pet. It makes me dizzy. I think I need a break. Maybe I'll just fly around now dropping bombs. Thanks for the help in teaching me. Geary

    This is absolutely beautiful. One on my favorite campaigns and terrains to fly. But, can't get the MiG-25 flyable. Keeps CTDing. Tried changing everything in the folder for hours. Still CTD. Have and installed the update to this campaign. Still CTD. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it. Thanks for this work.
  21. ianh755, It was a joke. The ECM box is in the back seat in that model. I'm wondering how many other people are checking the back seat of that model? Thanks for the hex editor. I'll give it a try. Although currently I'm using Hex Editor Neo' free version, many of the bits I like to use, like 'Replace' aren't active in the free version. Thus my search for a new hex editor.   22. ianh755, Thanks, apparently the step I was missing was hex-editing the lod file. Yours works great. Even got the main gun working. But, the back-seat pilot is missing. Don't know if you just didn't want him to fly with you or he stepped out for a nature call. Gepard, PureBlue and Wrench, Think I understand now. Thanks for the help. Can anyone suggest a good, simple hex editor for Windows 7-64bit? Preferably free but will pay if it's worth it. Thanks, again, Geary
  23. ianh775, Thanks, But I'm ither doing something wrong, it can't be done, or this jet just doesn't like me. Your bmp files didn't work. I also discovered I can't get the pure SF2 version to show up in my SF2/SF2 Merged installs. More to research to do. allenjb42, Just about to look into my old CFS2/FS9 files for that program.
  24. Thanks, But DDS Converter 2 doesn't seem to like my Windows 7-64bit. Installs, starts, but won't convert. Just shuts itself off when I push the convert button. I used ImageConverter Plus to convert the .dds files. Converts one .dds file to multiple-sized .bmp files. Don't know if the conversion is the problem or if someting else is stopping the textures from showing.
