  1. Wizard43, I watched the trailer for Dark Blue World. Looks like it's got some good flying scenes, but most of it seems to be about 'Romance.' I have nothing against romance, some of my best relationships have been romantic, but personally, I don't care much to see 'romance' in War Movies. I think it muddies the movie. Saying that, I have Pearl Harbor. It's in my War Movies folder simply because it has some of the first great computer generated imagery in a war movie I had seen to that point. One day when I get time, I plan to edit out the CGI flying scenes from that movie and a few other. It will shorten the movies but make them much better in my opinion. Mission of Honor is another current movie I've seen about the Polish 303 Squadron during the Battle of Britain. Again, too much romance muddying the movie but some good CGI flying stuff.
  2. I saw 'The Train" when I was quite young. I agree it's worth watching. Not classified as a "War" movie but right next to it. It's much better than one of Burt Lancaster's last war movies, "Go Tell The Spartans." This movie is pure disappointment. I like Lancaster in it and the place and era, Vietnam in the early 60's before the US decides to go full bore there. But the movie was done very cheaply and it shows. I think it was filmed in someone's back yard with a home movie camera. Lancaster looks a bit out of place in it. One movie I've seen on Netflix, can find the book in different forms, but can't seem to find a DVD/BlueRay for it is "Siege at Jadotville." About Irish UN Peacekeepers in the Congo in 1961. Based on a true story. Poor buggers got a lot more than they expected. Good movie. Not great, but good.
  3. Sabres over Korea, 1952. (Wrench's SF2 Korea terrain in SF1.)
  4. I've seen the Dien Bien Phu movie online. Will have to search to find a copy. I've also seen a good movie about the war in Aigeria. I don't remember who made it, though. Thanks for the info.
  5. I think this is the 'latest' in the SF1 download section. This doesn't work on my Windows 10 computer if I extract the .exe and .ini files from the zipped file. I run it 'in' the zipped file and it works for me.
  6. This is a link to two entries in the knowledge base on adding carriers to campaigns. It should get you started. https://combatace.com/forums/forum/190-adding-carriers-to-campaigns/
  7. Gepard, Do you know if there are any English subtitles or translations of this movie? Sounds interesting. From my short online search for this movie, I didn't find any handy to obtain or with English subs or subtitles. jeanba, Can you suggest any good French movies about the French in Indochina leading up to 1954? Hopefully, movies with English subtitles also.
  8. jeanba, I agree, a lot of movies are missing. The site I pointed to is of course someone's personal opinion. But it showed me some movies I hadn't heard of. Now I have some movies to look forward to watching. "Section 317 (317th Platoon)" looks interesting. That's an era and place I have an interest in. I think I can find the movie and English subtitles for it. While I'm not much of a World War I era fan, "Capitaine Conan" looks interesting from what I can find on it. Unfortunately, I can't find English subtitles for it. Is the italian "La Granda Guerra" a comedy from 1959?
  9. So far the only one of the newer movies I've seen is Battle for Sevastopol. Interesting movie. I didn't know about the relationship between Eleanor Roosevelt and Lyudmilla Pavlichenko. Liked the way the movie was woven together. I have Days of Glory (Indigenes) but I'm having trouble getting the English subtitles to sync. Collecting the others to have a viewing of them and see if I agree with the title on the site of "7 Great Foreign Language War Films You Should See.' Of course for me they need have English subtitles. Saw Das Boot MANY years ago. Now I'm interested in watching it again.
  10. I've attached the ODS_Patch_1.rar. I don't remember where I got it or if it's even necessary but I'm pretty sure I installed it. It's been years since I installed ODS. Also, don't know if where you have your game installed is causing your problem in Instant Action, but seems that if the rest of the game is working, it shouldn't be the cause. I have my games installed on a second drive. ODS_Patch_1.rar
  11. I believe there is a patch to this install, ODS_ Patch_1.rar. Don't know if that will fix your problem, though. As Gatling20 said the InstantAction.ini and Options.ini need to have the same player plane and that plane needs to be in your Aircraft folder. Also, check ALL the planes in the InstantAction.ini file to make sure you have ALL those planes in your Aircraft folder. Sorry I can't remember if I changed my InstantAction.ini when I installed ODS. I'm under the impression it came working.
  12. Tuskegee Airman Captain Roscoe Brown

Too bad we don't have a good Italian WWII map for a Tuskegee Airmen campaign.
  13. Just tried mine and it works fine. I also have this installed in Windows 10. If I recall correctly mine is an untouched (by me), unmodded (by me), straight out of the zipped files install. Do you have all the updated, fixed, etc... files available from the download section? There are a few extra besides the original 4(?) main parts for this install.
  14. Repaints of Scrapper's Tuskegee Airmen skins for Wolf257's P-51D-30. Tuskegee Airman Lt. Colonel Lee Archer, 302nd FS, 322nd FG. Tuskegee Airman Captain Roscoe Brown, 100th FS, 322nd FG.
  15. Wolf257's old B-17F & G with redone lines, paint, etc... Thanks to the artists who made the original paint and skins.
  16. I use one portable USB hard drive; 3 Synology Network Attached Storage (NAS); currently have 7 home servers, but I personally only use 1; and a second hard drive in my gaming computer. Yet, somehow I still manage to loose files. Go figure.
  17. Wolf257's old B-17F & G models with repainted lines and skins from the SF1 download library. Thanks to the artists of the original skins.
  18. Coupi, Forgive my ignorance, but what are 'secondary structure lines'?
  19. rogueranger 1993, This looks interesting. Wish I could help you out but I'm currently experiencing technical difficulties with my eyes. This has put the brakes on my skinning endeavors. Hope to have them fixed soon. Will let you know when I'm cleared for duty. Maybe someone else will take this up in the meantime.
  20. View File F8F Bearcat Redrawn Lines, Rivets, etc.. Redrawn Lines, Rivets, etc.. for the Geo's F8F Bearcat. It can be used for SF1 or SF2. Add your own paint, dirt, details, decals and weathering... I can't remember why I made this template (I must have had some extra rivets laying around) as there are already some excellent skins for this plane by Geo, Pappychksix, paulopanz and Wrench and much of this template was based on some of those skins. This is a WIP-Finish-It-Yourself template and is in Photoshop .psd format at 2048 pixels. It has redrawn lines, rivets and various bits. It can be reduced for those with low spec computers. It's still a bit rough around the edges, but you can smooth out any rough edges to your desires. ----------------------------- If you want to make the lines and rivets darker or lighter, this template allows you to do that by adjusting the opacity of the lines, rivets or any layer of this file. You can also 'Click' off any layer you don't wish to use, such as the rivets layer if you don't wish to have any rivets. To use it you must have a paint program that reads/modifies .psd files. Then you can adjust the specular, glossiness and/or reflection entries in the skin's texture.ini file to get the skin to your liking. I use the poor mans' method of bump mapping. I don't have the needed software or skills to create real bump maps. I use two template layers: one black the other white. The white layer is below the black layer and offset one pixel up or down and one pixel left or right. Then adjust the opacity of each layer to create a 'shadow' effect. When done right it gives the illusion it's 3D. --------------------------- Credit and Thanks to Geo for this nifty little jet. I'm releasing this under the Combat Ace Fair Use Agreement. Use it anyway you wish for personal use. For any other use, please contact me first. If you find any problems with it, please PM me. If you improve it, please PM me a copy. Thanks to all who are helping me learn to skin by direct involvement and/or by inspiration. If I forget or miss anyone who deserves credit for anything I release, I apologize. I have no intent to abuse or misuse anyone's property or claim it as my own. Please contact me to correct any error. Geary Submitter Geary Submitted 07/17/2019 Category Skin Templates

  22. Good. I couldn't see the stenciling very well and wasn't sure what some of it said so I had to guess.

I made these templates so I could make natural metal/aluminum skins for these planes. ------------ These templates are more like WIPs. They are a bit rough and can use some improvement.
