  1. Both would be nice. Now how are we going to distribute all this stuff - new aircraft, skins, an amended terrain, new loadouts to allow "enemy" aircraft carry NATO weapons, data.ini changes, ground objects etc. Given that we are talking about material covering 60 years of hostilities. Are we going to release it piece-meal at Combatace and allow everyone to put together what they want? Or are we going to put it altogether. I'm not suggesting anything as complicated as an install patch like YAP. We could just provide a central guide to where to find everything useful, sorted by the different time periods (1948, 1956, 1967, 1967-1973, 1973-1980s, modern). Just thought we should at least discuss this early on. LloydNB
  2. Now this is nit-picking but I hope that somenone can help me resolve it. At what angle from the fuselage should the wing stripes be on the EAF MiG-15 and MiG-17? I said it was a bit obscure. There seems to quite a few interpretations around and many show the stripes parallel to the fuselage. The best I have come up with is that the lines followed the rivet lines and therefore were about 40 offset from the fuselage. It seems that the lines on the WoI stock MiG-17 are not at quite the right angle. LloydNB
  3. EAF F-16A Block 15 It appears that EAF F-16s were painted light gray all over. Just tweaking and weathering to do.
  4. Has anyone done an Egyptian J-7 and J-7 III yet? Both are still in the EAF arsenal. Other things on the go: - T-37 (RJAF) - F-16A (EAF) - C-130 (EAF & RJAF) LloydNB
  5. Terrific. Can't wait. I've not been idle either. LloydNB
  6. Bad luck. Looks like pre-1967 will have to be done the "hard" way. The GermanyCE.cat wont work for me - WOE is the only one of the series I don't have. Its $85 in the shop locally. Aghhh! I've been working on the EAF (as usual). Lloydnb
  7. Thanks Wrench I appreciate the time and effort you're putting into this. LloydNB
  8. Vulkan Aircraft sent to you by PM. Hope you enjoy. Let me know if the lettering needs changing. LloydNB
  9. Vulkan How is this? If you write out the text under the wing on the left side, I'll add it for you. LloydNB
  10. OK Wrench, I'll keep an eye on the other thread. There's an EAF F-4E available (model and skin) but I'm not sure where I got it. I'll check when I get home from work - its just after 9.30am here at the moment. Its quite fun doing F-4 v F-4 combats. The RJAF F-104B is the very quick and dirty conversion of colmn5's original model using your suggested decal changes for the F-104A. As a filler the F-5A Turkish skin can be easily converted into the F-5s that Jordan got from Iran in the mid-70s. LloydNB (Note - The EAF F-4E is at AVSIM)
  11. Wrench I like your idea of making duplicate western A2A missiles with a EGY prefix and changing the attachment type to WP. It works a treat for the Egyptian F-4E and Jordanian F-5E, F-104A and F-104B. All we need is a comprehensive list of western weapons used by Arab nations. It seems the EAF F-4Es were armed with AIM-7 Sparrows and AIM-9 Sidewinders, AGM-65 Mavericks and "iron" bombs. Watch out for the Mirage Factory WoI weapons pack. It changes the Nations.ini file to make Jordan a "friendly". I image that some other states have been changed as well. Took me ages to work out why the Soviet weapons weren't showing. LloydNB
  12. Thanks Wrench Will do! I'm at work at present and when I get home I've been talked into potting up some garden plants for the local school fair. But I'll get on to when I can. I was a bit disappointed by the decals that came with the RJAF Hunter skin in WoI. They don't seem to reflect the situation in 1967 - no squadron flash on the nose, serial numbers in Arabic not Latin script and no checked rudders. I'll see what I can do to improve them. LloydNB
  13. Hi Wrench Just looking for some advice. I've got the RJAF Vampire to a state I'm happy with it. Its a mash of two of column5's original skins and some new decals. Should I release it just as a skin and let people make their own data.ini and loadout.ini changes to make it work for WoI, or should I provide a full set of instructions so that it turns up armed on the "enemy" side? A lot of people (me included) are put off by complicated instructions.
  14. Hi Wrench Perhaps we were talking at crossed-purposes. I was thinking of an EAF Meteor Mk8. I understand that the EAF had a small number (pehaps 6) and they were operated as a mixed unit (5 Squadron) with the Mk4s during the Suez Crisis - 12 aircraft in all. I've used the War of the Stripes article to do mixed Arabic/English codes for the Meteors, Vampires and a reworking of Simon's EAF Sea Fury skin. Soviet source aircraft (post republic) appear to have used Arabic numbers exclusively. Pictures I've seen suggest that the IDF used a camo scheme on its Mk8s during 1956 and silver during 1967. LloydNB
  15. Nice one Wrench You could probably do the same quick change with a silver F-5B (do we have one?) and F-5E. Still focusing on 1956, I've been having a go at updating your Meteor Mk4 - putting the black wing strips and green fuselage stripes on, adding number codes etc. Luckily the same skin works for the Meteor Mk8 - two-for-one! Oh, and I've fixed the missing "4" on the serial number below. The EAF skin that comes with the MiG-15bis pack needs similar work. LloydNB
  16. Wrench I was just putting the Royal Navy Skyraider Mk.1 into WoI for Suez and I remembered that you mentioned in another thread that the ASW bubble was available. Do you know where? I don't know if the RN operated in 1956 with the ASW bubble , but the French did on the Avenger. Its interesting that the only ASW action during the Crisis was AGAINST the Americans. The French detected a US submarine amongst their fleet and forced it to the surface.
  17. Hi Wrench Israel, Egypt, the RAF and Syria were all operating the NF.13 in 1956 - that's the "bird-cage" canopy. Where both sides operated the same aircraft I have been making two installs and renaming one (eg. Meteor F.8 (Arab)), changing its country of origin and its weapon attachment to "WP". LloydNB
  18. Since we've got started, post the loadouts here. Good idea to swap the Ouragan cockpit - the Sabre one looks much better. How is the Meteor N.13 coming along? LloydNB
  19. I'm happy to concentrate on the EAF and RJAF. It would be nice to have as many aircraft in their correct colours with the right squadron markings and serial numbers as possible. If we start of with Orders of Battle for each conflict then we can fill the gaps over time (probably a long time!). And to start things off...... EAF 1956 (from Suez Crisis, 1956: The War of Stripes by Tom Cooper. www.acig.org) 1 Sqn, MiG-17, (6 to 12), Almaza - * 2 Sqn Vampire FB.52, (15), Cairo West - * 3 Sqn C-47, (20), Almaza - * 4 Sqn Beechcraft and misc. other, (?), Dekhlia 5 Sqn, Meteor F.Mk.4, Meteor T.Mk.7, Meteor F.Mk.8, (12), Fayd - * 7 Sqn C-46, (20), on Almaza 8 & 9 Sqn Il-28, (29), Inchas then Luxor - * 10 Sqn Meteor NF.13, (5), Almaza - (In development) 11 Sqn Il-14, (20), Almaza ?? 20. Thanks for this Wrench To start things off, below is the list I prepared about available Arab aircraft for 1967. The Provost isn't available yet but I've added it because Capun is working on one. I'll update it with the location of the add-ons as we go along. MiG 15bis - Egypt, Syria MiG 15UTI - Egypt MiG 17F - Algeria, Egypt, Syria, Iraq MiG 17PF - Egypt, Syria MiG 19 - Egypt, Syria, Iraq MiG 21F-13 - Algeria, Egypt, Syria, Iraq MiG 21PF - Egypt, Syria MiG 21PRM - Egypt Hunter FR Mk6 - Jordan, Lebanon Hunter FR Mk59B - Iraq Vampire FB Mk59 - Jordan Venom F Mk1 - Iraq Venom FB Mk52 - Iraq Jet Provost Mk52 - Iraq Su 7BMK - Egypt Il-28 - Egypt, Syria, Iraq Tu-16 - Egypt, Iraq C-47 - Egypt, Syria, Jordan An-12B - Egypt, Iraq Mi-8 - Egypt Wessex Mk52 - Iraq Whirlwind - Jordan
  21. Wrench I'm increasingly getting confused about what aircraft, skins and ground objects we have for the Middle East from 1948 trhough to 1967. Perhaps we should start a thread to keep tabs on this stuff and where it can be downloaded. With the suite of TK games growing and the community splintering off into various specialty areas (theatres and eras) people are getting pulled in many different directions. Even if there was a separate WoI area or a discussion point for each theatre it might help. On a lighter note, I've started to "fix" the RJAF Hunter skin in WoI. Numbering should be in Latin numbers (not Arabic), the squadron emblem and letter codes on the tail are missing and as you stated earlier the attachments are wrong for it to fill the "enemy" role. LloydNB
  22. Johan217 If you're interested in 1956 skins then there are plenty around. As for doing skins on request - well you can but ask. I'll always consider it, especially if its for the EAF in 1956. LloydNB
  23. Thanks Wrench I've got the 60lb rockets to show but they are not skinned. Since there is not a separate bmp for them, they must borrow their skin from another weapon. I just don't know which one. LloydNB
