Still alive and kicking. LloydNB

Bingo!! That's the second picture I've seen with both the original crudely painted factory number and a smaller aircraft number on the rudder. Thanks p10ppy. And what a great Belgian site. Plenty of good ideas for future skins. Now I think 6 Escadrille flew BE.2Cs out of Koksijde during 1916/17. LloydNB

I just need a little help. I know that some aircraft in Belgian service carried an aircraft number that had the first letter of the aircraft name then an individual number (eg. Sopwith Camels carried SC. # (of SK.# in Flemish) and Nieuport 17s carried N.#) Does anyone know whether this pattern was repeated for BE.2s? And if so was it BE.# or RAF.# (Royal Aircraft Factory)? Cheers LloydNB

Morane-Saulnier N “Bullet” (biggish images)
LloydNB replied to p10ppy's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
The Voisin looks great! Type 3 I presume (120-horsepower Salmson M9 engine, range 200 km (125 miles), bomb load 50 kg (330 lb)). One more aircraft for the Belgian Air Force. Will it have bomb racks beside the gunner? What will it be armed with? The one in the Musée de l'Air, Paris has a Hotchkiss with a spoll for a belt of ammunition above the breech. The Belgian aircraft seem to have a Lewis. This could be the beginning of a whole new range of aircraft. The Type 5 and Type 8 would be nice - but [DEEP BREATH] I'm getting over excited! LloydNB -
gumpy At the beginning of the soundlist.ini file is a list of the sounds under the following title [soundList]. Put the following entries at the end of the list and continue the sequence of numbers. SoundFileXXX=hotchkiss SoundFileXXX=lerhone LloydNB

Hey Laton Are you planning both versions of the Strutter - single seater and two seater? LloydNB
-
Very nice Laton I understand that 20 of each type were built but only 3 E.Vs saw active service. The E.VI never reached the front line. LloydNB

Morane-Saulnier Type H & Pfalz E.I RELEASED

Known to pilots as "The Flying Death Notice" - German newspapers of the time printed death notices surrounded in a black border. -
Need help working with tga files
LloydNB replied to MOUNTAIN-MAN's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Try this. It works a treat with PSP9 tga files. http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/archive/ind...hp?t-25433.html LloydNB -
Need help working with tga files
LloydNB replied to MOUNTAIN-MAN's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Hi Mountain-man I had the same problem with PSP9. No matter what I did the tgas appeared in the aircraft in a bright yellow. I found a terrific little application a while ago that you activate on your desktop and then drag all your offending tgs files onto and it fixes them. I haven't tried it for Gimp but it should work. I'll post the download address when I get home from work. LloydNB -
Morane-Saulnier Type L/Pfalz E.III Packs RELEASED
LloydNB replied to Laton's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Great work It seems that the Germans had about 60 Pfalz E.IIIs during 1914/15 and converted their two-seaters to single-seaters during 1915. It was considered to be a stop-gap measure and no more than 8 were ever resent at the front at one time. You might consider changing COMMON in the data.ini to RARE or VERY RARE. Does anyone know which part of the front the Pfalz served on? LloydNB -
It has to be the DH2 for me. I'm a sucker for the under-powered and under-gunned early war birds. LloydNB
-
Laton I'm looking forward to skinning this one. LloydNB
-
Great job Laton When you do the prop are you going to include bullet deflectors? I think P10ppy was going to include deflectors on the Bullet or at least modify the dispersal of the bullets to simulate them. Didn't Roland Garros fly the Type L? LloydNB

Progress is being made on producing the very colourful No. 10 Squadron of the RNAS. APOLOGIES - I have exceeded my bandwidth on my image host service. Pictures will have to follow in a few days. Early days. There is lots of detail to add but its looking good. Using my experience with the DH.2 there will be 12 aircraft in 3 flights. Each flight will have different coloured stripes on the fuselage and each aircraft will have identifying markings on the wheels. LloydNB

Terrific p10ppy I'll turn it into a decal when I get home. I was only able to find 3 other schemes for B Flight so I made one up. The aircraft number on the "shamrock" Camel is just readable so at least one flight will have historically accurate aircraft. Thanks LloydNB

Sinbad Miller is a terrific artist. I used his images to texture the wings, but I'm afraid the shamrock pattern on the wheel was beyond me. LloydNB
