  1. Sopwith Dolphin

I assume that it would not have been possible to gear the lewis guns to the revolution of the prop and as the lewis guns are most definitely inside the arc of the prop, common sense suggests they can't have fired forward. As to the other aircraft that had guns fitter to the top wing, I presume that they fired over prop tip. This would have been possible because their top wing was higher than the Dolphin. and has anyone found a photo of a Dolphin with two Lewis's fitted? I only have photos of the right gun fitted. If this is right, is there a quick fix so the Dolphin doesn't have too much forward firepower?
  2. Importing aircraft from SFP1?

LOL We should have known that was going to happen. The door was left open just a crack and Zurawski was in with yet another shameless plug for the Polish fighter.
  3. Now available the 3rd in my series of DH.2 skins - No.32 Squadron. Each Flight is identified by a different concentric circle pattern on the wheels. Enjoy LloydNB
  4. File Name: DH.2 - 32 Squadron (fixed zip) File Submitter: LloydNB File Submitted: 10 Feb 2007 File Updated: 11 Feb 2007 File Category: WW1 Aircraft Airco DH.2 32 Squadron, RFC 1916 The 3rd in my series of DH.2 skins. Each Flight has different pattern of concentric circles on the wheels. Full credit to Aladar for this terrific model. With the exception of the main surfaces, I have retained much of the detail of his original skin. Enjoy LloydNB Click here to download this file
  5. This squadron went to France in March 1916 and was the second unit to have the DH.2. It transferred to Nieuport Scouts in March 1917. This skin now includes the wheel colours, and individual aircraft marking for the three flights. The upper wings have been darkened and the struts paint the appropriate grey. The damage model and missing tail numbers have been corrected. LloydNB
  6. Skinning a plane and wanted to know what the squadron, flight and individual aircraft codes were for No.112 Squadron RAF in 1917; well this is the book for you. British Aviation Sqaudron Markings of World War I: RFC. RAF. RNAS, Les Rogers, Schiffer Millitary History, 2001 My copy just arrived in a US Postal Service bag from Amazon. Its pricey, but a fantastic resource. My wife is already cursing the time I spend with my nose buried in it. Cheers LloydNB
  7. Each fight of 32 Squadron had a different concentric circle pattern on their wheels. The flight code and aircraft ID number was painted on the upper wing. The released skin will represent 3 flights, each with 4 aircraft in it. I've now got better information on the markings for 29 Squadron. The wheels on "A" flight were red, "B" Flight white and "C" flight blue. Individual aircraft numbers were painted either side of the nose, on the right-side upper wing and right-side lower wing. I'll do an update when I get time. 26 Squadron also had these colours on its wheels to denote each flight. However, each aircraft had an arrangement of coloured and white bands on its outer struts instead of numbers. If its possible, I'd like to be able to add decals to the struts - but they may take some time to work out. LloydNB
  8. Lafayette Escadrille Skins

Proud to say I was first to download them. Terrific skins. LloydNB

  12. Nieuport 24

I agree. Fantastic model. But i couldn't stand to see it completely naked so... I'm going to enjoy skinning this one!! LloydNB
  13. Now available. A Camel of 11 Escadrille, Belgian Air Force. It might come in handy when Flanders is done. This is MikeWhl's Sopwith Camel F.1 that is available at this site (not the A-Team one). 9 Escadrille, Belgian Air Force Dh.2 - 29 Squadron LloydNB
  14. I've noticed that some Belgian planes had their number prefixed by "Sc." and some by "Sk/". The pilots would have been a mix of Walloons and Flemish. But were squadrons mixed? Did a Flemish speaking pilot have "Sk/" on his tail and French speaking "Sc." Or were whole squadrons one or the other? LloydNB
  15. The start of an all doped DH.2 that operated against the Ottoman Empire in 1917. Hopefully it will be a couple of days fiddling with the decals and then I can release it. As David Hasdell has already started working through the RFC Camel squadrons, I might work on some Belgian Camels instead. LloydNB
  16. File Name: DH.2 - 14 Squadron (Palestine) File Submitter: LloydNB File Submitted: 2 Feb 2007 File Updated: 24 Feb 2007 File Category: WW1 Aircraft Airco DH.2 14 Squadron, RFC (Palestine) 1917 Obsolete on the Western Front by 1917, this little pusher fighter/scout still filled a useful role fighting the Turks. I've also included an alternative DH2_Loading file. Read the Readme! Full credit to Aladar for this terrific model. With the exception of the main surfaces, I have retained much of the detail of his original skin. When you can't improve on it, don't try. Enjoy LloydNB Click here to download this file
  17. DH2 - 14 Squadron - Available

Well my first WWI skin is done and submitted to Combatace. It was so much fun doing, I might do more. Perhaps No.29 and No.32 Squadrons next. Aladar has already skinned No.24 Squadron. Hope you enjoy. LloydNB
  18. As Amazon will not post software to New Zealand I was driven to be more inventive. I found an app that you just drag you 32-bit tga files onto and it fixes the alpha channels problem. Teh developer is a genius. http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/archive/ind...hp?t-25433.html LloydNB
  19. I have PSP 9 and it doesn't handle tga alpha channels (for decals). Black letter codes work alright but coloured squadron markings are a complete muck up. I seem to remember that PSP 7 does it fine. Before I run out and buy PSP 7 on Amazon, is someone able to confirm that decals work if made with PSP 7? Thanks LloydNB
  20. I hope someone can help. I've seen a few profiles of Belgian Camels (principally Wings Palette) which seem to suggest that the underwing surfaces were a darker colour than the doped linen used by the RFC. I presume that the basic paint job would have been applied at the factory (in England) and that there is no particular reason why the Belgians would paint the lower surfaces. Does anyone have the answer? LloydNB
  21. DH2 - 14 Squadron - Available

JFM When I've managed to do decent Khaki-green doped upper surfaces, I think you can expect No.24 Squadron to be done. I've got a good photo of the saw-tooth effect under the nacelle but there is no mention of the colour. I presume its white on a green background. LloydNB
  22. DH2 - 14 Squadron - Available

Here are the latest shots. I'm still trying to do the damage model for the DH.2, which is tricky because of how PSP 9 mucks about with the tga files. LloydNB
  23. DH2 - 14 Squadron - Available

I agree about glossiness on a lot of the skins so far. They tend to be a bit matt, but its easily fixed. Even clear doped linen is quite shiny so I'll try to depict it. LloydNB
  24. I've finally turned my hand to doing a Camel skin and I want to use the standard RAF roundals on the wings. After some trial and error I worked out the mesh name for the correct part of the wings but I'm stumped by the ailerons. I just can't get the roundals to appear as a complete circle. Does anyone know the solution? Cheers LloydNB
