  1. File Name: Breguet 693 - France 1940 File Submitter: LloydNB File Submitted: 14 May 2012 File Category: French Air Force GBA I/51 France 1940 Breguet BR-693 (13 aircraft) The Breguet 693 was a light bomber that usually carried 8 50kg bombs. When they were delivered, the Breguets were popular with their crews, although the unreliable engines in the Br-691 caused headaches. Only in March 1940 were the first combat-worthy Br-693s delivered, and there were now five squadrons to equip: GBA I/51, GBA II/51, GBA I/54, GBA II/54, and GBA II/35, with a theoretical complement of 13 aircraft each. It showed promise in its role and all Breguet variants (691,693 and 695) flew 500 sorties against the German invasion. 79 Br-693s were lost in action. It seems most Br-693s went into service without underwing codes. While there are plenty of pictures of this aircraft in Vichy colours, it didn't serve outside metropolitan France and didn't see combat after the Armistice. Amended DATA and LOADOUT files are included. Click here to download this file
  2. Originally part of a Chinese order, one Potez 633 made it to French Indochina where it was used by the Vichy force, first against Siam/Thailand and then the Japanese. Coming soon.
  3. File Name: Potez 633 - France 1940 File Submitter: LloydNB File Submitted: 14 May 2012 File Updated: 14 May 2012 File Category: French Air Force GBA I/51 France 1940 Potez 633 B2 (5 aircraft) In 1938 France ordered 449 Potez 633s but in May that year it was decided that all light bombers must have a crew of 3, so the aircraft was developed for export only. A bomb-bay filled the space between the plot and gunner in which the bombs were hung vertically. 35 aircraft (4 from a Chinese order, 20 from a Romanian order and 11 from a Greek order) were allocated to various squadrons in 1939-40 to fill gaps and to help transition pilots into the Breguet 693. These aircraft have "C", "G" and "R" in their serial numbers. There were 20 aircraft in combat units (GBA I/51, II/51, I/54 and II/54) when the Germans invaded on 10 May 1940. GBA II/35 received the Potez 633 later that month. Only Potez 633s of II/51 saw combat, losing 5 aircraft. A further aircraft, destined for China, got as far as French Indochina before being requisitioned into the Vichy Air Force for the defence of the colony. Amended DATA and LOADOUT files are included. 6. I should have these posted in the next few days. These skins represent 1st and 2nd escadrille of GBA I/51 during June 1940. I've included 13 Br-693 skins and 5 Potez 633 skins to reflect the organisation of French squadrons of the time. LloydNB
  7. Normally I would try half a dozen different solutions before posting, but I'm getting older and lazier. Plus I'm at work. I'm re-doing the DATA file for the Potez 633 to reflect the most common bomb load (8x50kg bombs). Now these were hung vertically in a bomb-bay that stuck up between the pilot and tail-gunner. I was wondering whether the orientation of bombs in the bomb-bay can be changed. Cheers Lloyd
  8. Thanks for responding guys. I'll chase those ideas up.
  9. I thought the Breguet 693 could do with a spruce up.

  11. I agree with the sentiment about the Battle of France aircraft. With a bit of extra work (adding a glazed gondola)the Potez 630/631 could be made into a 637 and, by remodelling the cockpit area, the 63.11. The latter was used well into the middle of the war.

  15. I thought the Vichy Potez 633 could do with some company.
  16. Two Potez 633 bound for China got as far as French Indochina before being acquired by the French Air Force. They were painted in Vichy identification colours and used in the border war with Siam/Thailand.

  22. I still have to do the doors (decals), which may take a little time. And getting the corrugated skin superimposed correctly on the code letters is tricky.
