Borts OEF ALBATROS DII, Repaint by M-M
MOUNTAIN-MAN posted a topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2 File Announcements
File Name: Borts OEF ALBATROS DII, Repaint by M-M File Submitter: MOUNTAIN-MAN File Submitted: 25 Apr 2007 File Updated: 27 Apr 2007 File Category: WW1 Aircraft Thanks to Bort for giving me permission, given publicly on his blog site, to repaint this wonderful aircraft. It is always a pleasure working with him.....the idea behind this was to show thats Borts stuff could be made "museum " ready, for want of a better term, with out losing the wonderful character that he puts in all his craft, rather than just throwing a bucket of paint at it and hiding aforesaid character. To be honest I don't fly this skin, preferring Borts original, as his stuff has the quality of a well used, honest to goodness warplane about them..character in other words. But this one's a beauty in its own way and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did doing it. Thanks again to Bort for this nice aircraft, hope I didn't mess it up too bad old man..LOL Click here to download this file -

Zaphros....believe you hit the nail on the head right smartly....Borts FMs were specifically made to add the challenge, and the fun, back into the game and in that he has truly succeded....His FMs are all I fly, and after taking the time to learn them, flying anybody elses is just plain boring..........Glad to see someone else enjoying the good stuff the man has given to us, while everyone else was worried about getting it "right"( virtually impossible with the medium we have to work with!) Bort just wanted to make it fun, and did, bless his crusty old hide anyway!!.....fly hard and have fun Mr. Z M-M -

Hi all..Been seeing some mention of interest in the EI here lately...When you consider it was the first German craft with a synchro'd M.G., was the plane that started the Fokker scourge, totally owned the air through the winter of '15, and was the pivotal craft that started the air arms race that still goes on today, that makes it one of the foremost aircraft in air combat history. The later craft get all the glory, but most of them would'nt even have been developed if the EI had'nt thrown the gauntlet down first.... Yet have never seen one in a game???? Well I have one, been flying it since I got the game..The story...Asked Bort, bless his hide, why he never made one, his reply was if I was interested and happened to have his early model EIII, that he had inadvertantly made to small, to have a go. Well I had one saved as a captured Brit, before I got his new III & IV. In doing size comparisons with other craft it appears to be almost spot on the correct size for the EI. Got three skins for it, two nice ones and my personal craft thats been rode hard and put up wet, and looks it! The only thing historically correct is the size of the plane, the paint jobs were done as I'm learning, tho must admit they look awfully nice, one of them is Borts late skins put on the early bird. They are done, and I have Borts permission to upload the whole package here.....So if there is enuff interest and I can figure out how to get them here I would be glad to do that.......ANY TAKERS?? mountain-man

Good idea Bucky, will do that on the tan & light grey one, the one on the grey/green has been scuffed up a bit to match the paint job gonna leave her alone ....thanks for the heads up M-M

Geneticly enhanced, neurally boosted, steroid fed, whacko nutcase killer puppys tho it did mess up they're ability to withstand temperature changes, thus the need for many coats.......Oh no ,one of them just read your post and headed out the door in your direction..................sleep well tonite!!!!!!! D M..Thank you so much Don't have a clue why the site wont let me upload??...the grey one is my first real paint job, in order to blend all the colors did them in almost clear layers, probably have a 100 coats on that puppy...got more mouse clicks in that airplane than I did all the way thru DoomIII.LOL! But think she turned out pretty darned nice and as soon as I get my upload request back we'll have a genuine historically correct EI in the game.......Thanks again D M M-M
