  1. You may remember my previous thread http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...=27715&st=0 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beriev_Be-2500 however I ran into some problems, but after learning a little more I've gotten back to basics. After taking a look at the C-5 I redesigned the gear and bombay. Now could I some feedback. which should I build, a clamshell rear door like the last one, or a loading ramp like the C-130

This is a Beta version of my Be2500. It is UN-finished. Read the readme for details. It is also, incidently, the largest flyable mod aircraft in any flight sim in the world.

This is a pack containing a set of canards for aircraft modding. These canards may be freely used in other mods provided that I am credited and that they are not resold as payware NOTE: as of 05-04-08 I have re-exported and uploaded th canards in this package and the canards names should be correct CrimsonRoamer
  5. Same problem here. my computer's been buggy for months, and some driver conflict or something stops me from playing SF. Plus final year at college... Aghh, by the time I'll have time again we'll probably have retina display or thought scanning features in SF
  6. The frakkin' end of Galactica.

The first half of that episode was like getting getting slapped in the face with the hand of awesome the second half was like getting slapped in the face
  7. Hmm, the 8 Pilatus PC-9s the Irish air corps has, versus the hundreds of fighter jets the Brits have.
  8. Enjoying the Tornado F.3 in NFIII
  9. I uploaded the OST for the first two ovas to rapidshare http://rapidshare.com/files/206401594/Area..._Collection.zip
  10. Just to clarify, if the going to be for WOE, SFG, SF:P1 or the new strike fighters 2, If its anything other than Strike Fighters 2 and WOI then I can help with the Menus. as for the music I was thinking mainscreen.wav -How far to paradise(OST I&II) hangarradio1.wav -mission 6(OST I&II) debriefkilled.wav -So Long My Love (OST3) debreiffail.wav -mission 9(OST I&II) DebriefSuccess.wav -Sad destiny(OST I&II) SingleMissionScreen.wav -Sand of illusion (OST3) RecordScreen.wav -From Yesterday...Tomorrow (OST3) OptionsScreen.wav -Long ago and so far away(OST I&II) BaseScreen.wav -Area 88 ones old home (OST3) CampaignScreen.wav -mission 10(OST I&II) CreditsScreen.wav -How far to paradise 2(OST I&II) This is taken from the Ost's for all 3 ova's. the ost for the first two was pretty difficult to find
  11. Personally I do it Iron eagle style, 8-track player (or iPod) on my knee. Some aircraft put it in the windloop.wav file for the aircaft (you can choose which one in the data .ini file) And I'm amazed that the progress you're making on the terrain, is this using the new terrain editor I've heard about? Oh, speaking of background music, I picked up the OST for the first and second OAVs, including the battles, great music to fly to. I'll see about converting it to WAV for the sim over the weekend.
  12. The desert terrain is actually almost an exact copy of Aslan from the manga. Southern part the mediterranean sea. The Area 88 base itself is quite close to the sea. In fact if you poke around in the mission editor (le missioneur) there's a coastal city explicitly named Aslan (captial city of the country Aslan in the manga. Methinks TK's a fan.)
  13. Miramar crash update

Looks like charlielima was right in the first topic, micromanaged until he had two bad decisions left. That said, not every pilot who gets into trouble can be a master aviator.
  14. Recently dug this out of my WIP archive, for the MF F-8E I finally managed to get the transparency layers in the decals working so It'll be released as soon as soon as I have new shark mouth decals and the modified pylons ready. Also, Invincible Charlie on CAP
  15. Microsoft Aces Studio is Closed

On the plus side, Thirdwire beat Microsoft
  16. All thirdwire games uses a common format, and with the new patches everything works with every game (Admittedly some of the older mods need updating but they still work) And I run my games (fully patched)on a laptop with similar specs, with everything set to medium (except for shadows which I turn off) Also the enhanced explosion packs put a lot of strain on it, so you should probably avoid those
  17. F-18 down

This is an incident that could have gone so badly wrong but didn't. I'd have to say this was the best possible outcome of the situation It's really just random chance today a pilot ejected over a residential area and no one died, 20 year ago a pilot ejected over his airbase in Poland and it killed an 18 year old in Belgium http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_Belgian_MiG-23_crash
  18. I've upload the artbook 'Fairy Air Force at war' plus some other 3-views to rapidshare. Hope these help http://rapidshare.com/files/170800783/FAF_at_war.7z
  19. Famous WW2 quotations

I recall a certain British officer being quoted (I think it was in 'The World at war') during the 30's that "The Japanese will never make good pilots, due to being carried around on their mother's backs as children" Now whatever side of the fence you were on, you have to agree that that's just ASKING for it. and regarding Gepards statement, most of the world considers America (regardless of the truth of the matter) to have a lack of staying power, and that they rush into conflict gung-ho without any long term plan, like in Somalia, Iraq and Afganistan. I know that someone has to be the one to actually do something, and I'm aware that America does a lot of peacekeeping and humanitarian work that they really don't get enough credit for, but the big stuff gets the most attention. when you think about it, all wars start the same way. Some politicians start something, knowing that no matter what happens, they can't be arrested or charged with crimes. (Unless they lose BADLY) Two terms and an exit strategy seems to apply here
  20. It'd probably going to be next year before it's even flyable as Beta. I'll try to upload the artbooks next weekend. they were scanned by VF-research.com, and were posted on the macross-world forum. try searching their forum for 'yukikaze' Incidentaly, does anyone know how to modify the sky colour? I was attempting to get to look look more like planet Fairy (green sky, purple at dusk)
  21. Haven't told anyone about until now because it'll be a while before its even vaguely ready for release I've also manged to download the artbooks, which have some excellent detail, 3-views, unit insignias, etc
  22. One more blue bandit for VF-96
  23. Actually somewhat canonical (picked these up in my net wanderings) Exactly when the JAM invaded is never stated, but it's presumed to be in either the late eighties or the nineties, given that the original novel was written in '84, and the appearance of the C-141 in the flashback sequence
  24. After the the Mcmurdo station incursion the allied forces found themselves without effective reconaissance, having become dependant on satellites. With the SR-71 retired and to rare and unwieldly to use for tactical reconaissance, and allied fighters occupied with other missions, a new dedicated recon airframe was required. In the short-term, 15 RA-5C Vigilante's were pulled from AMARC, re-engined and equiped with modern avionics and multi-function AESA radar, they are deployed to air bases in the Antarctic, close to the front lines Due to enemy numbers, even a regular recon mission stands a large chance of running into bandits. Although the enemy favours Swarm tactics, they typically patrol in two's or three's Fortunately the RA-5E is well equiped to defend itself In this engagement all four JAM engaged were shot down without loss
