F-35A Lightning II
Klavs81 replied to Klavs81's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Dave, you're quite welcome. I'm slowly working on the panel lines for the F-35, I'm settling for a balance between believability and reality, if accurate 3 views ever emerge, I'll redo the textures. For right now, the panel lines are their own separate level in a .psd file, meaning you can draw whatever scheme you like over them, and the lines and rivets and such will remain constant. I'm also somewhat hesitant to post a 100% accurate model, the 35 being as new as it is, and me being as paranoid as I am. So, I will maintain OPSEC by being lazy. Oh, the burden. -
How mature can a B-52 get exactly!

I'm going to start selling stuff later this year when I get my website up. Most of what I do now is private comission stuff and charity auctions. Combat acers will get a discount, don't worry! :D I've had a request by the subject to add red tracers and more flak bursts (wasn't intense enough!!!) so stand by dave, check your email tomorrow morning. -A -

Okay, I have been working on the 35, but I had to take a little time off to do a comissioned art piece for a local Thud driver... "Rolling in on the Village of Viet Tri, the morning fog was lit in just the right way for a split second so that I was able to see every bullet in the sky coming at me. Their vapor trails were leaving shadows in the fog. And it looked like vectors converging on me from every conceivable direction. It was like being in the center of a Koosh-Ball!" The actual print is 16x20 at 300 dpi. -
AIM-120 Terminal Homing

Every single time I shoot a Slammer at a Flanker, it tracks good up until about half a mile, then takes a right or left oblique and flies off into the nether regions of the world. Pulling good lead, according to Mr. Radar ball, and they'll do this from extreme range to point blank. Any thoughts, suggestions? The Aim-9x homes wonderfully, though, even in a tight turn. Cheers in advance! -B -

I just changed the countercountermeasure value to 99 and robbed all my modern soviet fighters of their chaff dispensers. Now everybody's Raptor meat! -

Really? Holy cow, what are those?! Maybe the "Retarded" flag in the weapon.ini has more than one effect... -
AIM-120 Terminal Homing
Klavs81 replied to Klavs81's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Nope, not fixed. Happens during high lead engagements, but the targets are just cruising along doing nothing. Seems like the missile gets near it's gimbal limit then takes a dump -

Well, problem fixed, I think. I took the weapons back down to normal. Apparently HARD=Gremlins spring to life during terminal guidance -
Especially since we can't be sure what the CN-20 will do.

Clearly you've never been to Disney World.

I personally like Bill Whittles concept of "Swordlessness" i.e. getting the enemy to fight himself. Good read here: http://www.ejectejecteject.com/archives/000172.html Edit: well not "his" concept, per se, but he applies Sun Tzu's concept rather neatly to the current situation.

My take on the Aurora Spyplane, a Liquid fueled rocket plane with a Scramjet for high speed flight. Not sure if it's possible, but I'm going to try to learn how to build a functioning SFP aircraft out of this thing. The mesh is almost complete, so I'm just going to try and stumble around trying to get the damn thing flying. Will probably just be rocket powered at first, and I'll try and make the scramjet work later. -Adam

For those curious about the size of this thing: I can just see this pic resurfacing on some cheezy history chanel documentary about UFO's and how the Air Force is causing cancer through high altitude contrails again... Edit: Besides, everyone knows that cancer is caused by hippies. -
Hoorah! VERY glad to see these guys exonnerated.

Well, maybe I'd use it do disinfect my eyeballs after watching, but knowing that stuff, it probably CAUSES infections. Seriously though, after the right number of other drinks at the XL club, it DOES taste pretty sweet. Tastes like... victory. -
Changing Cockpits
Klavs81 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Okay, I need your guys help on this one, because I have been bashing my head against the table for days. I have the F-16 Blk 50, and I'm trying to transfer the cockpit and avionics from the F-16A_10, since it has a nicer HUD and Radar Display I copy the A model cockpit and avionics file into the Blk 50 folder and rename, deleting the cockpit file and avionics file first, and jump into the game. When I start up a mission, I get no hud, no radar, nuthin, but the cockpit shows up fine. I've slogged through all the Config settings, and nothing that I can see that's obvious. Any thoughts? -

I always enjoyed Macross for the spiffy aircraft. Whenever they transformed into giant fighting robots I always got really impatient. Almost as impatient as I get with badly dubbed "relationship building" scenes. Yukikaze is all but unwatchable, save for the flying. One more lingering look between the main character and his "commander" and I was going to hurl a bottle of Jeremiah Weed through my TV! But seriously, great aircraft and modeling, I'm really excited about this one! -

I've started texturing, but in the meantime, I've also added glowing "slime lights", which will be tied to the nav lights.
