  1. Question for the car people

and you may also cosider usig oxy/acetylene on the area to shrink the metal as you do this, either way you are left with a patch that needs filling and wet/dry sanding, in terms of painting it is only ever worth painting the entire panel, feathering in a patch is never going to be invisible, or just get a new hood.
  2. Lunatic Gunman goes on Rampage

I'll have you know that being locked into a warm comfortable cell doing nothing but watching TV and playing on X-boxes or playstations, having acess to drugs and the internet! is quite a punishment, it's so not what our younger generation do in the day to day........oh wait! a skill that is even lost to our perps, watch the news here right now and you will hear of bits of hookers being fished out of a river in Yorkshire, and he proudly called himself the 'crossbow cannibal' in court, I'm sorry but that was just soooo gay, OMG even our serial killers are an embarassment! yes in a bizarre way this kind of happens anyway, disrespecting authority is almost institutional in our society, everyone is on the wrong side of the law sort of. In priciple it works, mainly for the crims, for anyone else it makes you a target for abuse and will attract an army of terrier like weasels who think they can wear you down, I was the big kid in school, my life was a misery with all the little gobs**tes that wanted to have a go, then when you do you are a bully for picking on a smaller kid, that playground mentality stays with the population over here.
  3. Lunatic Gunman goes on Rampage

almost certainly you would be sued by the perp, and subsequently you would have 1000 police officers at your door because you would be a 'very very dangerous criminal' in their eyes, it would take a few of them to restrain you because they have to faff about being all by the book about it, the press would be having a field day just being creative with the whole story, inevitably the poor crack head would be mollycoddled as a victim of society and needing a hug from society to make it all better, while you would be portrayed as an big mean meanie who doesn't like to share your good fortune with others, you should be ashamed of yourself being all aggressive and mean you big big bully boo hoo!
  4. Top Gun 2

NSAWC just rolls off the tongue doesn't it, talking of rolling off my tongue, that chick was certainly a nice looking young lady.
  5. Lunatic Gunman goes on Rampage

I live here and can't fathom that one myself, it may be that we have an even more litigious society than yours, some people mention a good samaritan act, but to be honest I would still hesitate to help someone injured, it's amazing what can cause whiplash here in the UK, people are also equally if not more tenacious at knowing their rights as you guys quote your constitution, it gets quite complicated trying to explain what we have here in the UK, we are slowly being turned into an androgenous 'mush of a species here in the UK. all I can say is that some of us are real good eggs and would make you proud but we are being withered away by our own soft nature and tolerance.
  6. Top Gun 2

Well I thought the clue was in the title, Top Gun is a training school after all, why wasn't Iron eagle called Iron Viper? I didn't see any F-15's at all , I liked both films but felt Iron eagle didn't deserve any sequels.
  7. Top Gun 2

WOW! no I don't know anything about this, just an idea I had, maybe I mised my calling in life.
  8. Top Gun 2

I think it should be a sequel not a remake, Old Tom can play Maverick as an instructor at the Top Gun school who has to work with a brand new troubled rookie, the rookie could be Icemans son, naturally the aircraft will be the bug, real mig's or sukhois won't be a problem these days.
  9. hud

So like Crusader and I both said, the game steerpoint function is not implemented, and any working steerpoint indicator is a kind of workaround or 'cheat' the reason I won't add this function into the HUD is I don't like the mix of game HUD and built in HUD, also not possible to import the HSI to the F-18, again it is a function built into the model. As crusader said, let's hope the F-14 game brings some new functionality into the game, rest assured the Typhoon will be updated to make full advantage of any that does.
  10. hud

Hi romflyer, Well first of all I would suggest ignoring the whole steerpoint issue, when I built the typhoon I was experimenting with alot of stuff, and much like you I wanted to see if there was a function for waypoint indication in the HUD, the avionics file certainly has a reference to it. but there are alot of functions in TW series games that have not been implemented yet (or may never be) one example is the brake chute, like the Typhoon any aircraft that has one is really using a 'cheat' to make them work. you may have noticed there is no working steerpoint indicator in the Typhoon either, just the lines in the .ini (which caused alot of frustrations......search through the support topic and you will see what I mean) some modders have created HUD's with a greater range of information by creating the symbology directly into the 3d mesh of the cockpit, effectively creating semi transparent instruments in line with the HUD glass, there are downsides to this i.e they don't use the 'shader material' that normal HUD's use and they stay fixed in position, unlike the normal HUD's where as you move your view beyond the edge of the HUD the symbology all fades out etc, also not all of the HUD's functions can be created this way and you end up having a mix of both, this in turn creates a weird 2 shades of green HUD, in my oppinion visually unappealing. so there you have it, until flight sims become popular to the masses and half the globe starts buying TW sims, I'm affraid this particular function won't be implemented (cost is usually the issue) having said that please don't stop trying new stuff, I learned this stuff in exactly the same way you are trying to do, the Typhoon was my 1st ever model, and I ended up creating something which has some fairly unique avionic features for this sim. good luck! Craig (bongodriver)
  11. yep, gonna have rails and it's even got the recessed amraam stations. always planned a 2 seater since the first one.
  12. Thunder works for me, I can imagine had those things entered service they would have made quite a noise with those Olympus engines ripping the air, and flying nap of the earth with the TFR you would hear them but not see them.
  13. I'm beginning to see it as a blessing, I can now start afresh and get right all the little things that I didn't like before. so I will be working on a new TSR model and pit and another Typhoon and various others, hopefully Ant will still team up with me despite the fact I am a data losing retard.
  14. My HDD died, a warning to all

Hi Folks, Just thought I'd let you in on a recent disaster of mine, as the title mentions my HDD died on me a few days ago, the problem is I am reeeeallly bad at bothering to do backups.......the sad news is that all my max files (including the TSR, Islander and a new EF-2000) are all gone, so are all my reference pictures and carefully edited plan view drawings and so much more....including my personal flying loogbooks...if at this point you want to call me a jackass for not backing up then please do, I really do deserve it. My ultimate reason for this post is to warn you about 2 things, first thing is if you have a seagate hard drive of almost any model (mine was a 7200.11, 500GB) then please go to seagates website and find a firmware update, the seagate drives are dying at an alarming rate I have found out, secondly if yo have one of those drives set up in a raid 0 array, then save your data NOW!!!!! I have spent these few days trying some of the fixes for my drives problems which is just as well I lost my job (yes thats right, my company went into administration the day after my comp died) thats why I'm not leaving the house, with my luck I probably would get hit by a random meteorite. Wish me luck while I grow a beard and dodge soap for a while but I am dedicating myself to rescueing my data if I can (without spending £££££ on a pro service, I have no job now after all) Craig
  15. Nope, I posted this pic just to remind folks I haven't given up on this project, it's just rl has a way of eating all available time to do this stuff, so she is coming..........standard 2 weeks.
  16. Well it seems the UK government made a U-turn and reactivated the TSR2 project a Typhoon of 3sqn escorting XR220 on her first trip to shake off the mothballs.
  17. R.I.P Tragic he was so young, My thoughts to the Family and all you guys here at CA that have lost a dear friend.
  18. Well......I wouldn't say it's a permanent prevention, I genuinely intend to get'er done, real life is calming down.
  19. Yeah and they arent even majorly sophisticated ones either, some skymap green and black display jobby which you can buy from any pilot shop.
  20. Dayum... I actually have a pit started for my hawk model. I guess im being slow lately with my modding anyway.
  21. Just heard about this. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgo...est/8130528.stm
  22. Did It return to normal with advanced shaders stll turned on?
  23. Well I don't know what this thing does but it worked like a charm for me, I tried it before when it was first posted but no joy, but this time it is simply miraculous, I have exerything on max and graphics card settings are also on highest quality, i just dropped the 2 files in the main directory (made no changes in the .ini) and the in cockpit fps is smoother than one of my pick-up lines, I do get the awfull looking weirdness when I press shift F12 tho (guess I can edit the settings to remedy that). system specs: intel quad core 2.83ghz overclocked 3.0ghz Nvidia gtx 280 8Gb ddr3 ram windows vista ultimate 64bit SF2, V, E despite a reasonably beefy system, in cockpit fps before this mod were around 15fps max.
