  1. Thomas: Looks like I somehow flipped the Avionics.DLL reference back to AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.DLL before uploading. See here for corrected files: http://combatace.com/topic/85726-sf2i-extension-pack-corrections/ Eric Howes
  2. Folks: Looks like I somehow flipped the AvionicsDLL reference back to Avionics60.DLL on the F-4E Kurnass 73, 75, and 78 before uploading. Attached is a zipped set of files to correct the problem. Drop the contents in \Objects\Aircraft in your SF2I Mods folder, allowing Windows to overwrite files as prompted. Eric Howes f-4e_kurnass.zip
  3. Canadair: It is a risk in any naval campaign. You can minimize the risk by restricting or even eliminating enemy aircraft that are tasked with Naval_Search. You can also minimize the risk by minimizing or eliminating enemy aircraft tasked with Naval_Attack, Cruise_Missile, Strike, SEAD_Naval, or SEAD. But depending on the geography of the terrain some risk will always be there. Even with battle groups that lack a carrier. In some cases (48-56, ODS, OTC) I have had pretty good success in minimizing the risk. In other cases (Black Sea Crisis), it continued to happen no matter what I did. The friendly naval groups were always discovered, and then the strikes on those groups would begin. Eric Howes
  4. Canadair: The problem of inland targets on Gerwin's terrain is discussed in the ReadMe for the optional install of the terrain. Baltika's terrain uses a different TARGETS.INI. Yes, the behavior I discussed in the Black Sea Crisis ReadMe is a feature of all naval campaigns. Eric Howes
  5. Canadair: I wouldn't suggest one terrain over any other. It's a matter of preference. The coastlines of Gerwin's terrain and Baltika's terrain are different than the default IcelandNA terrain, through Gerwin's terrain is otherwise compatible with the default campaign for the IcelandNA terrain. Baltika's terrain requires you to install the alternate campaign files if you wish to fly the campaign on that terrain. Yes, you can have the RSR add-on installed to the same version of the SF2NA Expansion Pack as NorthCape. That's the way mine is set up. Eric Howes
  6. SF2NA: The RSR Edition

Stary: None of the three aircraft included only for the Frisbee missions (the other two are the A-50 and Il-76) were listed as new aircraft for Expansion Pack because they weren't included to integrate into the main part of Expansion Pack. All three, however, are included in the Credits section. Eric Howes
  7. Wrench: My guess would be that your WW2 mods folder uses a customized .INI in the \Objects or \Flight folder that replaces the default SF2NA .INI, which includes whatever line is causing this little anomaly. Eric Howes
  8. I think it was Olds who, in his account of the approach to Thai Nguyen during the March 1967 raid on the steel mill there, described the flak cloud above the area as an "angry, boiling black mushroom of smoke." Eric Howes
  9. The Most Fun Car Chase Scene Ever

Dave: Great stuff. Interesting how many of the more memorable car chase scenes were done in the early-to mid-70's (or thereabouts). The classics: The Seven-Ups Car Chase The French Connection Car Chase Bullit - Chase Prelude Bullit - Chase Part 1 Bullit - Chase Part 2 The Seven-Ups might not be familiar to everyone. It was a kind of follow-on to The French Connection and was directed by Philip D'Antoni, who was the producer on Bullit and The French Connection. Coincidence that all three films feature memorable car chases? Probably not. Eric Howes
  10. blaze95: Thanks for taking a crack at it. I'll take anything you got corrections-wise. Just PM me with with the data and/or files. Best, Eric Howes
  11. tn_pvteye: There are no seasonal tiles for this terrain, so far as I know. I'd like to see some seasonal, hi-res tiles for this terrain, too. I was sort of hoping a dedicated all-in-one mod for the terrain might inspire someone to take on the task. Eric Howes
  12. Hi: If you're not seeing the AIM-7E4 & AIM-54A, then you haven't installed the Sept. 2014 Update Pack for the SF2V Expansion Pack, which includes those weapons: http://combatace.com/files/file/10466-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-sep-2014-update/ Eric Howes
  13. Hans: Thanks for the note. That fix will be incorporated into a future update. Eric Howes
  14. Zola25: Great info. And also very interesting because I stopped patching at the July 2012 patch level, which explains why I never saw the bug. It was never clear to me what benefits or fixes the 2013 patch levels brought with them, and I remember a number of folks reporting minor problems after patching. This would be just one more of them. Eric Howes
  15. Zola25: It would be interesting to learn what patch level introduced that bug. I know from experience that the StartTime setting has worked. When ODS was released for SF2 back in April 2012, the initial campaign mission would be at around 2:00 am, if you were flying an aircraft with AircraftCapability=DAY_AND_NIGHT. Day-only aircraft would fly their first mission at sunrise. The same holds true for some of the later NF5 campaigns (the '79 and '86 campaigns). Thanks for reporting your findings. Eric Howes
  16. Zola25: Thanks for the information. I was beginning to suspect something like that. The bug is a tolerable one for me, and the fix/workaround you offer is an easy one to implement for those who find it intolerable -- basically comment out the following line near the top of the affected campaign's DATA.INI: StartTime=2:00 So, it would be useful to hear from the folks who reported encountering this bug: are you using the navalized version of the campaign? If you try the above fix, does it work for you? Eric Howes
  17. Folks: Quick followup: I just checked the campaigns for the original SF2 release as well as the SF1 release back in 2009. The campaign statements governing the tempo of the campaign -- number of missions, frequency of missions, etc. -- have not changed. All the more reason to get the information requested in my previous post. It's possible something in the campaign engine itself changed. Eric Howes
  18. Guys: Again, more information, please. if you're going to report something that appears to be a bug, you should at the very least also tell us: - what patch level you're playing on; - whether you're using the SF2NA navalized terrain and campaign; - what aircraft/units you're flying; - whether you saw the same behavior with the original release of ODS for SF2 back in April 2012. Thanks, Eric Howes
  19. captainschwarz: I've not encountered that kind of behavior from the campaign engine, nor has anyone else reported it. The campaign is certainly not configured to do that either. Might help if you provided more information. Eric Howes
  20. Fubar512: I believe you're confusing the LightRange= statement used in afterburner effects with the LightSrcRange= statement used in aircraft Data.inis for aircraft lighting. I just checked the default SF2 ParticleSystem.INI -- there isn't a single LightSourceRange= statement in the entire file. LightRange= is, in fact, the correct statement. A number of SF1 afterburner effects have the LightRange= set to 250 or higher for afterburners. For SF2 a value of 5.0 or even 3.0 is more appropriate. Eric Howes
  21. Dillon: You need to locate the effect .INI file for the afterburner in question and adjust this line: LightRange=5.0 It's probably set to 250.0 or even 500.0. Set it to 5.0 -- that should solve the problem. Eric Howes
  22. Folks: Apologies if this collection is already known to most of you, but I'd not seen it before I stumbled across it tonight: https://www.flickr.com/photos/gerrit_kok_collection/ A large collection of high quality photos of military aircraft from around the world, from the 70's to present. Enjoy, Eric Howes
